This has happened to me a few times  Sad  I have a buddy that is a commodities trader and he has a name for that kind of a trader and I cannot remember the name, he said they get a name real fast amongst other traders...i think it is called a Mush or something like that.  It is like it never fails, they buy and it drops, they sell and it goes up.

patience is also key, most alts bottomed out during late 2015 and have risen in 2016 like Dogecoin, Ether, Dash etc

buy low and hold and have patience

I'm not sure I quite understand this. It has happened every single time I bought a coin. Whether it's BTC, VTC, XPY, BC, DRK or even LTC. It doesn't matter what I buy it shits itself as soon as my buy order goes through. As soon as I get tired and sell it starts going up.  Huh

Buy when it drops, not when it rises.  Hell I don't know.   The same thing happens to me most of the time too.  Just hold and you should be ok.   Maybe you're trading too much?

And avoid putting too much stock in the news.  Unless you're an insider or know someone who is, you will not know what's really going on behind a price move.  The news is mostly market noise and could affect your trading.

Later on when you meet people on the forum, it's good to join or start your own trading group and do all your research together, share strategies, etc...  It really helps get better at trading and it definitely helps your bottom line.

Of course you should!
Generally speaking you should sell with positive news, not buy.

What if momentum continues after you sell?  You really can't leave money on the table as it makes all the difference vs your bad trades.

Because you are doing it wrong ?

You should never buy when there is almost no volume or a bad vibe around a coin.

I didn't get a bad vibe of Vericoin to be honest

Don't buy coins during a pump.  Admit you missed that train and stay away.

Buy promising looking coins with low marketcaps and growth potential and be patient.  Don't buy after the marketcap has risen 100x already.

If a coin is being hyped and praised as the second coming of satoshi, stay away.  Even if it is a legit project, the dump will come and you can buy in cheaper.

Don't panic because the coins you are holding haven't doubled in price an hour after you bought them or they have stumbled in price.  Crypto is cyclical.  Only the pure pumps and dumps die completely.  Coins with solid development and community support rise (and fall) again eventually.

When you are holding a coin whose 6 month price charts looks like the black line below, sell where those red arrows are pointing.

Stop considering it buying. Tell yourself investing. Dont invest unless you think its a good investment.

If the price drops but the item/project/coin/asset you invested in is still the exact same as is was when you paid what you did, why would you sell?

Making educated 'buys' creates a mental backbone in your portfolio to stay optimistic when panic ensues.

You will not profit on them all. Period.

But making profit is way easier than most butt hurt people make it seem when you invest with your own knowledge.

I also made some mistakes in my coin trading, I started with like 1.5K USD and lost a lot of it during the crashes. But then I managed to win it back, and now I am losing again, happy I didn't put in more than this nowadays but still it's hurt to be a loser

It's not luck. Look at the chart of a coin you are considering. If there is a period of time where the price is stable and very low that you missed out on, stay the fuck away. Chances are excellent you will end up giving these early buyers profits and yourself losses. Sometimes, not very often you buy into a pump and it turns out good - but the chances of that happening pretty much suck, so fuck all of them.
Now, spend your time looking to get in at that low level BEFORE the pump.

If you buy a few bitcoins everything two weeks you take advantage of the low prices.
