It's because etherium as same as to altcoins, let say the bitcoin price at the 0.1 and the etheriun is in the .001 so there is a big difference between the price of two coins. Because bitcoin herein the top of all coins. We are now it's because of bitcointalk which clear to us that bitcoin are leading to all coins no one can bit to bitcoin.
Like for example in the company if who is the big share which mean he/she the the CEO of that company same like that in our crypto world.

It is the handiwork of speculators. Just like one them insisting that Ethereum is heading to $300 and a lot of holders will panic and initiate selling and flood the chain with sale order and when there is so much sellers the price will plunge.

Bitcoin also fell significantly, although it grew over the years, and its price is quite reasonable. Most of the price of Ethereum is just a marketing void.

In February, Eth was worth almost 0.12 BTC. Now it's 0.6. Any thoughts on why it drops? Yeah, I know that 'cryptocurrencies are highly volatile' bla bla. But are there any objective reasons?

Because ETH is still considered as alternative to BTC . Bitcoin will always be at rank 1 so when btc suffering from dumping its price it will also the same with others or worst double .

eth is now declining, but I see if the price drop eth is very minimal and not as big as bitcoin. this happens because eth has better price resistance than btc, so it still has a good chance to store eth.

the problem is thousands of useless topics kept comparing bitcoin and ethereum and kept saying ETH will reach or surpass bitcoin that every newbie started believing them.

but now they are all facing the reality that ETH is a pump and dump altcoin and all these newbies who believed in bullshit blindly will get dumped on eventually.

the dip this beginning of 2018 much have taught us a valuable lesson once again, what goes up must come down.  i lost opportunity to withdraw the profit of my life but then i'm hope the price will be back up whenever things calm down. so before i can do something stupid again, i always remind myself that eventually the price will rise up higher that the previous high.

Remember that BTCI gets all the other altcoins pegged to it and Ethereum is another altcoin. On top of this, you have the fact that most Initial coin offerings aka token sales are created and generated on the Ethereum blockchain, so when the Teams of these ICO projects and Developers collect Ethereum from the ICO investors,m they naturally dump it in order to get fiat, so sometimes the supply out paces the demand of Ethereum., which in turn generates a snowball effect when it comes to the price. I do hope though that in the near future, ethereum prices will rise again as it makes me have to work much harder to earn much less nowadays, which is a little tiring to be honest.

I like this explanation the most! Thank you!

ETH was dependent on BTC so if BTC drops ETH will also. We can't see sometimes that BTC is dropping its value because of its high value compared to ETH and rest of the altcoins. Somehow, ETH increases if BTC drops value or vice versa affecting other transactions and sudden cause of panic and lost of trust for the future

I think ICOs projects are even not helping out with the projects now, most of them raise significant amount of money when the market is doing well and now they are dumping their tokens on the market because they are losing their portfolio value due to BTC price crashing.

As can be seen from the schedule of the drop in bitcoin prices in the market, all the cryptocurrencies are mutually linked and depend on it. As the price of bitcoin drops and the whole market goes down.

that is what happens to all the pump and dump altcoins. they finally go down to their real value at some point. they may get pumped a couple of times more  because the "death" of an altcoin does not happen overnight specially when they are this big but it is inevitable.

add to that the fact that the supply of ETH is out of hand at this point and the sell pressure is great and increasing day by day thanks to the no cap thing, then you  can see why it is truly dropping hard.

ETH for a rise, most of the reason is that the ICO market lasts hot, so caused the rise in price of the ETH, appear even the bubble, but when the ICO market cooled, so the demand of the ETH prices also normal.

The reason for ETH drop is cause the prices of alts are still tied to bitcoin. Since bitcoin is dropping in prices it is taking the whole market down with it. Also ETH is going through a correction which is good for it as it will value the price of Ethereum at a price the market thinks is right.

Why do not I understand? I understand that this is the most wonderful time to cut the loot on those who have a lot of money.
I sell video cards, and BP and other Labudu, but for other tasks, although I perfectly understand where they are going. But for me this is the main business, and not that waste of time.

As a respect of bitcoin down price mostly also altcoins are decreasing due to the respect of the bitcoin price decreased, then you will see that they are connected to the bitcoin through the altcoins. Maybe all cryptocurrencies now having a very hard issue on of that is banning of Google in crypto ads.

Here my point of view in this situation we got here:

1. More people wants bitcoin
Or
2. People just have invested in bitcoins rather than ethereum.

3. People maybe have seen bitcoin a investment and ICO just have finished this month and few of them have just bought altcoin by ethereum. ( Please correct me if this situation I am wrong)

Also We can't say its kind a predictable if cant say the true reason behind it, but as you said I have written and given you OP the possible reasons.

It has been recorded for quite a time when there is a huge depression in crypto price, there is a general increase in dominance of bitcoin.
If you view the price of others coin as well, you can see they've relatively decreased with respect to bitcoin.
And similar is the case for increase. Altcoins increases at a greater rate than bitcoin.

Yes altcoin grow in greater rate or percentage compare with bitcoin but not all of them.
Only the altcoin which has great value of idea and good team can grow so much in value. Shitcoin would die.

It is normal chart bro, i think eth is going to its support again, if btc starts a bull run from here expect eth to reach the previous low area like 0.026 btc, from there we can expect reversal, this range can be good entry 0.026-0.028 btc in my view.
