Why don't you buy it?

becouse was abandoned by most devs to run their own ICOs ?
and none want develop on NXT Cheesy ?
all want free $$$ from ICOs
NXT is deadwater,
if 2nd generation community manager step up ok,
but the high profile dev are onto the NXT ico scam platform ...
and the platform field is very very crowded.

At best NXT can hold capital and become the poor mans kickstarter B-level for VC.  aka penny stock.

Fixed supply - No Inflation

Great Project

Has lots of great project on itself

Cheap ( $ 12 M Market Cap)

Why don't you buy it?

It was a good experiment and it was beneficial building it as a trial for other developers to study so that they could build better platforms. But as a longterm investment I do not think it will be that good. There are new and modern platforms now that could do better than NXT.

NXT was a great coin back in the days, but the bunch of scam Assets just fucked up the whole reputation

Everyone thought that those assets will help put NXT to the top. But unfortunately it was the other way around.

yes,, thats right,, and if all asset running on NXT have a good price and good feature,, it will give NXT more than before,,
But i believe this NXT is one of the best platform in cryptoworld

****what's this ardor thing people are talking about I must have missed it, is this the coin that was supposed to be NXT 2.0 where you get 1 ardor for each NXT you own?

When project 1.0 failed then you think that 2.0 will be much greater Smiley...
At end they go for free 50% DEV fund inside that is main goal of it.
Anyway now we will have NXT/ADOR... We create many alt chains to same project instead build around it.
For me devs just making bang for dev fund. It does not mean that you cannot get some free BTC from IT.
Today there is so many ICOs startups that i am getting headache with it.

NXT was and is great, tons of constant upgrades and features, the main drawback is the wallet setup is a pain in the ass for most users.

Agreed.

+1000

I highly recommend the jay lite client under the supernet client section.

The nxt wallet used to be easy to install, I tried yesterday and it was the opposite of user friendly almost like it was done on purpose. I ended up doing the jay lite client and followed his instructions and easy instant success. Btw, I really like using NXT, it's very versatile, and easy to store your coins and retrieve them later down the road. However, the whole Ardor thing turned me off to it so bad I literally don't give two shits about the platform anymore. I look forward to the current devs leaving and going to their new project and then hopefully a resurgence in NXT as a community platform again, not the dictator approach.

With the incoming IGNIS distribution, I predict 200%-300% price increase in NXT.

Mark my words, I am already in.
well I don't have shit in terms of NXT (~5000) but a 300% rise would be nice.

Before the end of Q2-starting of Q3 of 2017, I forgot to mention Smiley

I thought that NXT has been replaced by ARDOR and all devs have been migrating as well.

I used to have NXT, it was great tech, however I think they did not solve the "nothing at stake" isssue for their POS, I you try to corrupt the blockchain you are not risking your coin so even if the attacker has few chances to succeed he has no penalties to try, so over a long period it seems the blockchain is at risk.

With ethereum as you risk your coins you still have a few chances to corrupt the blockchain but block after block you are loosing a huge amount of coin, so it is an economical suicide to try to corrupt the blockchain.

I speak about the NXT Assets which can be created by anyone.

This is by design. There is no other authority in decentralized crypto but consensus of >50% of mining/forging power.

i guess they were thinking about Assets

I'm not sure what you mean.
There are 4 core devs listed here: https://www.jelurida.com/team
They have been NXT core devs for years and none of them abandoned NXT to run their own ICO.
Facts are not important anyways, let's get back to price charts Smiley

*double facepalm*

New software releases happen with wonderful regularity: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/
NXT has ghost devs or something LOL
And there is a link to the dev team only a couple of posts above.
Fact of life: core devs never abandoned NXT to run their own ICOs.
I am starting to understand how people lose money in crypto. They don't read basic information provided to them, only looking at price charts.

NXT was a great coin back in the days, but the bunch of scam Assets just fucked up the whole reputation

NXT is a decentralized platform, a tool. How people use a tool is up to them. You're in crypto for wrong reasons if you look for the platform to protect you against scams. Your best bet is Nasdaq or some other regulated exchange. Wait a minute, people lost a lot of money in Nasdaq in the dotcom boom. Let's see, is there something that protects investors from such calamities? Actually there is, it's called due diligence and common sense, of course. You can't have a cake and eat it too, it's against physical laws of the world. You can have guarantees without risk only when the reward is very low, like bonds. But meh, bonds have a 0.5% interest rate and the inflation is higher than that.
i'm not restricting  my comment only on financial stuff. I was thinking about the general image of NXT.
plus, i didn't lost any money in NXT assets. It's a great feature with good gain opportunities but, since most of the Assets turned out to be scams you can't see too many assets created in last time, because there is no interest for it.

Interesting thing about NXT is they call their mining (Forging). Also there is a lot of difference from Forging compared to mining, as the amount of NXT your will earn depends on how many NXT coins you have in your account which compared to Bitcoin Mining the better the hardware the better the earning. This is a good way to accumulate NXT coins if you think it has a potential to increase in value but right now it is down by 18% resulting to a price of .0162$ per coin which is not much, but the good thing is NXT forgers can buy a lot of coins to increase their forging power at a discount.
