it would create tons of issues for amazon if they add it IMO, the legal sources of funds and the claiming issues etc... as well as the impact adding bitcoin might have on their existing user base since bitcoin has a negative image at the current time, I guess they are waiting for BTC to go more mainstream to make a move like this.

The only reason probably is the dynamic nature of the bitcoin price. TO deal with the difference in selling and buying price, amazon needs to prepare a contingency fund. And for a big marketplace like Amazon, the fund volume needs to be really huge. Probably that's why Amazon is not accepting bitcoin as of now.

Dudes everyone knows where to acquire Amazon gift cards for Bitcoins and that's why the Amazon management doesn't care to include the payment option on the site itself. Also the Bitcoin userbase is tiny compared to the credit and debit card customers.

i think they don't accept them yet because it is against their TOS
do they even have it in their tos? i highly doubt that to be honest, in my opinion they just are waiting and thinking that bitcoins will not be big

IT could be a result of many reasons. They include:

- the volatility of Bitcoin price
- complexity and 'newness' of Bitcoin in this world
- the fact that Bitcoin isn't accepted in some countries.

I think a combination of these factors influences their decision of abstaining from Bitcoin payment on their site.

I think they can try to change their TOS? Actually they really can only if they wanted. In my own opinion it is acceptance they may still be doubtful about what can bitcoin gives them will it be a positive or negative.

I guess they still aren't ready to take the initiative, I mean of course other websites have started tasking BTC and even big ones but nothing like the size of Amazon or EBay, if a company that size take bitcoin maybe it would have an impact on it's membership and public opinion about it "since BTC is still being negatively viewed".

Maybe they are still waiting for the perfect time.
Maybe they are considering the performance of bitcoin in the market and looking for what we call "stability".

I guess they are on a tight spot, If they accept bitcoin they would be one of the first biggest commercial sites to take it, Some People have a negative opinion in bitcoin and they might take this step negatively and therefore affect the site in a way, I too think they should just take BTC.

They could just change the ToS themselves. Why are they restricting themselves? I speculate it is due to financial reasons and refund issues. Might be a hassle?
I think because of bitcoin is still new ( not all of countries in the world give legality using bitcoin) and the bitcoin's price is high fluctuating, they will not take high risk by using bitcoin for payment method.

I agree. Price is always fluctuating it is very difficult to earn profits with the sellers if that will happen also He's right bitcoin is not popular in country they dont know how to use it but i disagree a little what if the only put a payment method thru bitcoin whether they use it as a payment method or not.

uhmm why should it be against their terms of usage??? you can just provide the address where you want to receive item and thats it, either way it is easy for them to change tos

Amazon is huge so you could argue that they are being cautious, but Steam is huge too and they finally accepted Bitcoin. From that day I knew that Bitcoin is going to takeover the world and will eventually be a form of payment in amazon, Paypal, Ebay, everywhere basically. It cannot be stopped.

Amazon.com does not currently accept the use of bitcoins directly on their website, but you can use bitcoins for Amazon product purchases by using your wallet to buy an Amazon digital gift card Now, though, users of the controversial peer-to-peer digital system can spend their cryptocurrency in brick and mortar stores including Home Depot, CVS, Kmart and Sears as well as online at web retail granddaddy Amazon.com eGifter uses Bitcoin wallet Coinbase to process

Bitcoin can be used in Sears and CVS?

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
They want more people using it i guess, they mainly just want solid trade vehicles so buyer and seller are happy.  They then take a cut, everyone wins.  I think we will see paypal full into bitcoin pretty soon.
though if they started accepting bitcoins they would add up to bitcoin adoption and people would use way more amazon, for example i dont have a credit card right now so i cannot use amazon at all

amazon are making so much money already i doubt they find bitcoin significant but, also, i would point out that perhaps accepting bitcoin will turn them into a bit of an internet fad company instead of what they are now - a giant retailer. Also as mentioned numerous times here, the bad press of bitcoin is something amazon may be watching

amazon is indeed a very well-known company and surely every activity they do full calculations are done. However I am sure amazon will be the companies that accept bitcoin for each transaction that is in their site, because can provide everything bitcoin with very cheap cost and guaranteed safety

I don't understand why Bitcoiners are so upset about this. It is up to Amazon to decide whether they want to accept BTC as a form of payment or not. We can't force them to accept BTCs, if they don't want to. There are hundreds of sites out there which accept BTCs. Overstock and TigerDirect are good examples. Use them, if you want to pay with BTC.

very simple, people want amazon to accept bitcoin as they think it will be seen as incredible news (which it basically also is) that might get the price to sky rocket. it's always price related.
