Notice how I said some innovation and nothing really innovative about vertcoin or earthcoin?

I can't quite figure out why you have Earthcoin and Vert in the same category. EAC adds nothing new other than gimmicks aka "varies in a sine curve with amplitude of 2,000, with a period of
one year (like the Earth moving around the Sun)."

Vert basically became the #1 gpu scrypt coin in functionality. That's why people like it.

They both don't bring that much new to the table that warrants them having a high market cap.

According to who? The only thing Doge brings to the table is Doge, and it has a market cap 2x higher than Namecoin.

I like to think that someday we could use crypto currencies in day to day shopping.
If you only think about how innovative some mining difficulty adjustment might be. Then that really is not all that it takes to be great consumer coin.
Also some fun coins might not be as fun for some regular consumer as they might be to some internet boy.

I think we could use few different kind of coins. For example some coins can be great to be used to store value (Bitcoin) and some of them might be great to be used to buy some potatoes from the shop (Earthcoin).
Bitcoin can be considered valuable, slow, secure and scarce. Earthcoin can be considered fast, not so scarce, not so secure and less value per coin. You can maybe buy potatoe with 5 EAC instead of 0,00005 BTC (just example not real value comparison).

In my mind Earthcoin has all that it takes to be great coin for consumers and as currency in general. It's new coin and needs more time to develop but hopefully there is enough people that see this coin interesting.

Just some thoughts. Smiley

Earthcoin never had anything going for it and I'd go so far as to say, was a scam. The foundation is a joke obviously thrown together to deceive hapless goodniks. Take a look at it over at www.earthcoin.biz - the projects are really micky mouse, and above all- the sort where it would be unprovable as to how much support they actually do send.  Roll Eyes

This statement is baseless.  I'll make it no secret that EAC is one of the coins I heavily support, however if you're to claim that EAC is a scam based on all of the supporting services and marketplaces that have sprung up, then that means that you must consider all altcoins (including Litecoin) a scam.  For the sake of debate, you'll have to be a LOT more specific and provide reasons to support your statement.  I'll start you off:

  • Define what a "successful" coin is?
  • What coins have better market/service structures in place that have "succeeded"?  (Hint:  Look at Earthcoin's current offerings on the announcement page before mindlessly listing your favorite coins.)

To reiterate, I'm interested in an actual evidence supporting your statement, not opinions on which coin you think is the coolest and should make you rich.

You could not be more wrong than this...
The Jaguar rescue center project was started by myself, and I can asure you that all the earthcoins that are raised for this project will find their way to the owners of the center!

Me and my wife worked there last year as volunteers, and we wantend to do something extra for them.
I could convince the owners of the center to accept earthcoins for donations...

The earthcoin community raised already more than 112000 eac for the center.
Every single donation was made by members of the community...
Thats exactly why I hope EAC will be worth something in a few months, so they can have a couple of hundred dollars extra for their center!

We will hand them over the cheque when we go back in september.

For the non-believers, please check our earthcointalk project and the Jaguar rescue center website!

Looks like the rest of the crypto's if you ask me, it is lacking compared to Bitcoin for sure, but compare all that to Litecoin and what do you have? Now don't peg me as a supporter cause I do not want to lift up any one specific coin, I just want the best to bubble up and get away from bank fee's, anyway, it seem's that it was hyped at the beginning with a long term plan with its mining rewards changing with the season's, does not look like a scam IMO, I mean really, if it was I would be seeing some attempt's to pump it again and again.
What I see is the flash miners came and left, the beginning excitement is gone, and now its going to float until someone creates another exciting development for it, then you will see the pump's again and its value will again spike.

Because Earthcoin requires 1 million dollars per day to maintain a stable price. Ain't happening.

Not alot of money if you consider the global supply though, I have to guess that it will be around for awhile, and its value would rise if there were brick and mortar shop's accepting it as currency, that is my best guess why so many altcoins are undervalued, they need to be accepted as currency in the mainstream of consumer's, then shop's would accept it as a  means of payment.

This + there isn't anything innovative about Earthcoin or Vertcoin really.

Vert has some innovation, but not enough to warrant its market cap this early.

nice contradiction.

I wouldn't say that's a contradiction. They both don't bring that much new to the table that warrants them having a high market cap. They obviously have some different features (albeit nothing significant), but they aren't Namecoin for example. I hope you understand this.

I've just stopped mining LTC and focusing on this now with my GPU. Can see some potential in it, so I'm willing to mine some while it's still a bit quiet and take a risk on it potentially rocketing down the track, as I've got ASIC hardware working away on BTC and soon to switch that to PPC, so I'm not overly invested in EAC. The marketplace and so on should really help, not too many other coins seem to try and do this (i.e. 99% of the pump-and-dumps and novelty coins kicking about).

Too many new coins coming out, we are giving too much value to the new ones and forgetting the old, steady ones.

I don't really like where it's heading, I see it in a negative way right now. But if you can't beat them, join them.

This + there isn't anything innovative about Earthcoin or Vertcoin really. Other, older coins solve for their 'innovation'

Reagrding VTC - is it YAC and CACH you are referring to? Educate me on which others if you'd like Smiley

Ummm EAC is only a couple of months old. I mined it from launch, held it for a bit and now I have dumped it...

The truly undervalued coin is MEC...

So many have said it was pre-mined, it was not. So many have said it has no innovation, now the KGW has been adopted by a hoard of coins...

EAC is new and I am no expert but apart from a nice logo and a bit of marketing it is not really innovative or worth holding...

But who knows, look a DOGE for pete's sake... LOL

i've got some EAC as long-shot investment but honestly the coin it isnt that innovative, just had a really well marketed launch.

I agree on that, the coin isn't the most innovative.
But I believe what's most important is the community + the fact that you can actually buy something with your coins.
This is where EAC will succeed I believe...
Your coin might be as innovative as you want, but if no one is able to use it, or to convert it to usd and back, it's only a submedium to BTC in my opinion.

The EAC devs and community are working very hard to get these things done.
Earthazaar, where you can actualy buy things with your EAC, and Incryptex where you can buy EAC with dollars, or trade your EAC for dollars.

The android wallet, earthcoin foundations and all other good things that are coming are well needed extra's!

Coins don't need to be innovative, they just need to work, honestly do you think the ordinary person really gives a shit if a coin is sha 256, scrypt with a specific algorithm.

At the end of the day coins just have bad names, bitcoin is great, litecoin is fine, iCoin is amazing (if the devs end up doing something with it), eCoin is alright... but really
most of the coins I don't see my GF ever taking a interest in besides iCoin.

I even like the name Digibyte but I am a geek, but outside the crypto community it's a name that won't fit well in the real world, unfortunately that's the same with most coins.

Because Earthcoin requires 1 million dollars per day to maintain a stable price. Ain't happening.

I don't know where you get those numbers...?
@ the current price, you need 10,080$ to maintain the value.

Dogecoin for example, needs 864,000$ to maintain the current value.

Even @800 sat EAC would only cost 70,560$ to maintain that value.

If you give us information, please make sure you give correct information.
