People in some countries think that it is not good for them to gamble as it may ruin them if they get addicted. They have responsibilities and they talk about the same in front of their 2nd generations to teach them that gambling is not a good thing to do as they fear the addiction may end up for the gambler going bankrupt and make his family suffer with him.

I have been involved in gambling for sometimes now and have realized, gambling is not as harmful as some countries make it looks. Apart from trying to control the rate of addiction what are the reason behind the ban of public gambling by some countries?

In some countries, that law banning gambling is already taking place for a long time and they just remain it as it is. Religion also plays a factor. I'm sure most of us know that there are religions that find gambling a sin. It influenced the government to totally ban gambling.

Try to search at those countries that ban gambling. You will find also the reason for it.

so i just did a quick search and read this article - State of Onlline Gambling from Restricted Countries in 2021, and it says that online gambling is "a major way to cause fraud and can lead to addiction", as the reasons of this restriction. so i guess, aside from the religion as reason for most muslim countries, the govt is also concerned about fraudulent activities as well as potential addiction of their citizens to gambling.

Religion is the strongest factor for this, but it's strange for a country to prohibit gambling and casinos in general but allow lottery-type betting as happens here in Brazil, what is the difference between them?
I believe that the prohibition of this only makes it difficult but doesn't prevent gambling from continuing, it will happens irregularly without the government being able to have control over it and also earn taxes that could be reverted to the benefit of its population.

There’s a lot of reasons for them to consider this and their top priority is the current rules and regulations of that country with regards to gambling. Most of the site follow that rules and the best solution for them is to prohibit that country on their site. Some greedy gambler still use VPN to crack the system, this is too risky and not advisable at all.

Not all the countries are leaving off all the basic responsibilities of human being to the people itself but they are still caring for their people which is the reason from governments are not ready to allow other people to gamble.

Some other countries have prohibited gambling for religious reasons.

In my country for the interest of welfare of common people after lots of scammy projects and hacking kind of incidents, government decided not to be allowing people to gamble in public places but we are still having access to online gambling (I am expecting some kind of regulation will be possible in my country even for online gambling in near future).

Possible reasons? Here are my assumptions or opinion about that.

1. Government does protect their citizens on gambling addiction
2. They dont really need another tax revenue source
3. Personal decision into those who are sitting on the top

Dont know about the rest but this is the only the things i could say on which i do really believe
on why certain countries do really block or prohibits gambling into their vicinity.

Its prohibited in some countries because some persons abuse it, especially people who are under 18. So the government make it strict just to regulate it to minimize the rate at which it is done.
Aside from this, in some countries gambling are illegal so they have to adopt that strict regulations so they cannot be sued by the government of that country so if you’re living on a country where gambling is prohibit, better to follow that rules because you might experience bigger problem later on if they caught you. You can also confirm to that specific site you’re using for the reason of prohibiting a country on their site.

Maybe start with correcting your thread title, you misspelled gambling to gabling.

Well, the number 1 reason is the religious belief, in countries where the government is run by Muslims, they don't allow gambling as that is against their teaching, 2nd reason I know is the economic effect of gambling, if a country is poor or full of poverty, gambling may only add to the existing problem so they'll rather ban it as although it would help in the tax revenue increase but the overall effect is still not good for the economy.

my country is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world and religion is the main reason why gambling is illegal here

governments under the control of religious leaders argue that tax money from gambling is haram and the state will be in trouble if it accepts illicit money

Maybe aside from religion, I can see that one of the possible reasons why some government prohibit gambling activities is the possible source of money laundering. Because people can send 'illegal' money to the site (though some casinos already stated from their terms about the source of money), but how can they confirm that it is from illegal means? So what these people can do is "clean" it via gambling casinos.

apart from religions and regulations. casinos being involved in a lot of shady stuff or being used to do illegal activities is probably one of the main factors why some countries limits or outright ban gambling in their country.

Besides religious reasons, I've also noticed some governments are using gambling addiction increasement rates during the pandemic and interest in gambling from young people to justify a ban or more severe restrictions towards gambling. There have been several news recently saying regulations on gambling ads are going to become more strict, or that taxes are going to be raised for gambling industry in different countries. Spain and Ukraine are two examples.

Authorities are really worried about the negative social consequences (mental issues, poverty) of betting platforms growing larger and stronger these days due to the wide internet global access.

Regulations, every country have their own rules and regulations so if that site didn’t qualify for that they tend to prohibit that specific country on their site to prevent any problem in the future. Gambling is not harmful as long as you know your limit and its good for you to have fun in gambling, just always remember the basic rule of gambling don’t be greedy.

The reasons that surrounds the ban on gambling for a few nations is not far from what have been outlined in the replies as above, 'Religion and Regilatoons'.

It's not strange that gambling has been seen as a vice in our everyday society due to the fact that, when not properly coordinated, it could result in some violence. Again, for an addictive gambler, it could result in the gambler going bankrupt and as such, the individual starts living a desperate life style and hangs in the balance.

Not being able to regulate it on the other hand is where some nations just push it off. They just don't want there citizens to be too focused on luck as that's what the gambling lifestyle is based on but instead, they should cultivate a hard working lifestyle and earn there income.

As they've said about religion, it's the first thing that will be said to you why a country bans gambling. You'll see those countries that are prohibiting gambling because of their belief.

And you cannot twist that fate even if you have a debate to them so that's why if a country is religious and they're following their faith very well, gambling is part of it that they're abstaining.

A lot of this is cultural.

But usually, if you look hard enough into these countries, you'll find that people still play. It's just that they may be playing in underground venues.

I don't think that any ban makes a ton of sense because regulating the gambling sector would both bring revenue to the government and make sure that the games are safe to play.

As far as I know, most Islamic countries banned gambling totally, so obviously it has something to do with religion.

But maybe non Muslims countries who restricts gambling simply doesn't want their people to involved themselves in gambling, simply as that. Or there are countries that don't have regulatory framework to cover gambling, hence they also ban it.

The most used reason why gambling is prohibited or illegal in some countries is about religion.
Some countries consider gambling is a sin because of the religion teaching and gambling is also considered as a crime in some other countries.
Indonesia for the example, gambling was legal thing in the past when the official government had lottery game (SDSB) and sports (PORKAS).
After that there are many parties complained about it to the government which make the government decided to stop it.
