Just noticed they are accepting bitcoin donations, that's a good start:

Total Received   4.03858581 BTC

But just wondering whether the owner(s) of the website and BTC wallet actually reside on that island.

Thanks for the link, I will take a closer look into this. It is really fascinating to hear about this, I think the bitcoin foundation should send some representatives there and convince them to use bitcoin a the official currency  Grin

To be honest their own NXT fork would be a better choice.
What's the point in making a fork of nxt ? Do they have an economy to support the currency ? At least bitcoin has a steady trading volume and is more accepted worldwide.

They cannot be all too serious. On their website theres a big "Registration" Button on the front page, where you can sing up for an account and leave personal info (including your country). This list of countries is long but Liberland is not included O_o

Im not sure this is going to work out well. It sounds good on paper, let's see if they can really run a 100% libertarian nation successfully. It will be a great experiment.

let's hope that there won't be taxes there if they want to run a truly liberation land, those small states if start accepting bitcoin, should avaoid taxes, they should collect fund in another way for they infrastructure
It will end up with some sort of regulations going on just like every single "fully libertarian" countries that ever tried to reach that goal.
I don't think we will reach the level of "fully libertarian" at the near future. There are a lot of scams, fraudulence, violence, killing around us. If every one are free to talk or act without restriction of the law and morality, our society will quickly fall into chaos.

Bitcoinland might as well as be The Isle of Man, since they welcome Bitcoin/Crypto openly and have lax regulation there:

As I see they think BTC is too volatile at this moment. (I can't blame them for that.)

This micronation seems more advanced (they even have their own football association):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand

They could declare Bitcoin as official currency, it would be a good move and will suit their image. Or at least accept BTC in their online store:

"Become a Lord, Lady, Baron or Baroness - from £29.99" tempting offer  Smiley
Probably no one that wants to be on there even knows what Bitcoin is. We should aware them and make it the official currency for the place.

yes its a bit small but would it matter?
Because they are delusional as hell to think their safe libertarian haven is going to work in between all these countries to boot. It's going to be just another fiscal paradise for the rich.
you mean monaco, cayman islands, luxemburg, jersey,  Nevada and Wyoming..... become concurrence
