Topic: Why Litecoin was doomed from the start to fail (Read 2009 times)

I think the reason it was doomed to fail is because it doesn't offer much over bitcoin.

it offers a few very crucial points over bitcoin for going mainstream, eg known creator (anon dev may be cool around here but not in the real world being real money, especially when said creator has a billion dollar + stash).

thing it offers over all other alts and the reason it stays a solid 2nd, no matter what FUD is spread here....TRUST.

I think the reason it was doomed to fail is because it doesn't offer much over bitcoin. Without merchants accepting it there's not much use for it as a currency and why would merchants use it when they can just accept bitcoin.

Point 1 - the developers of Litecoin are absent.

Wrong! Litecoin does not need any more development, therefore it does not need a developer.

I'm accumulating. Once I've completed the accumulation phase, I will leave this place in peace and return to my kingdom and my golden throne. Tongue

Doesn't it have to deal more with its original purpose as being ASIC proof?

I guess you could say the real mistake was underestimating the adaptability of the users involved in the space - particularly in their quest to mine.

biggest myth on this forum litecoin was never ever designed to be asics proof, at the time asics wasn't an issue. d

They are just dropping the price, litecoin has actually been a success, depends how you look at it.

Also keep in mind the very first discussion in here was me defending ALL alts. So yea.....thanks for the vote of confidence and blasting Litecoin for whatever reason even when those involved in it still help/work with/defend alts and cryptos.

How in the world can you honestly defend ALL alts? That just makes everything else you say unbelievable.

The fact of the matter is Litecoin's developer works for a boss that hates altcoins and who has laid down the law regarding altcoin "moonlighting".

Thanks for this very well informed post. I will now email all the news orgs to ensure everyone knows this! The only problem is that a week ago a RC was just released https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=25306.0

Ahh yes, Ignore the fact that the LA launched Litecoin.com (special thanks to Aspect for this one), as well as the new branding guide, and working on other great things Smiley. But hey, whatever coin you are trying to push im sure this post will have an affect on the marketcap by swinging massive people from Litecoin to whatever you are currently holding (or at least in your mind thats how it works). Also ignore the fact that the Litecoin Devs work on the bitcoin core as well, meaning pretty much anyone involved in cryptos can thank Litecoin along with Bitcoin.

But what do I know, im just some guy on the interwebz Smiley.

Litecoin is still widely used and accepted.
It doesn't matter how much it is. Only greedy investors care about their money. Daily users don't care much.

Litecoin does not focus on day traders like most other coins do. We DO focus on wider adoption and can prove it Wink. For those of us that are here for the technology and not to enrich themselves (which I can only assume the OP is here for), the price is more or less immaterial. Of course personally that is with the understanding that 90% of adoption is motivated by price fluctuations. So not saying price isn't important, but for larger widespread adoption in the long run it doesnt matter because once larger adoption takes off (which Bitcoin has not even yet), the demand will be there to drive price up higher.

You as well as everyone else knows that is taken completely out of context, feel free to listen to the explanation here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLVwMFWGseA&feature=youtu.be (I dont remember what the time was where I talked about it, but it was a good interview). Also keep in mind the very first discussion in here was me defending ALL alts. So yea.....thanks for the vote of confidence and blasting Litecoin for whatever reason even when those involved in it still help/work with/defend alts and cryptos.

liquidity, merchant adoption will come only when the coin has advantage over other currencies or if it makes difference for the merchant's using it than existing payment system. does not make sense mr.litecoin lee
