People scam because of money. If they are badly in need of money. They get to think something bad just to earn. If they need bigger amount of money , that is the time for them to find money in a bad way. In bitcoin, people do not need to engage in scamming. People scam for some reason sometimes they commit crime such as what so called scam , just to fill their needs in daily lives , and some are doing it because of greedyness of a person. As you said to because of very desperate on what their desire is they committing crime , and they scam to just to become rich , rich and richer they wanted more than just a thousand , they wanted more as higher than a million. And yes it have a return or what so called karma , either it's good or bad.
On the other hand, they become selfish to right? , what if they just spend a few dollars to help some in need , that spend it to nonsense things. In my own opinion, there are many different reasons why people tend to scam other people. One example is, they are in need of money. They cant get a job or they cant earn a decent amount of bitcoin thats why the only way for them to earn money fast is by fooling or scamming other people. Another reason is that, they are good in making fake websites and investments that scam people's money. It serves as their work and they are also the boss. Those people will not become successful in the future because they are earning money in a wrong and illegal way. People who scam are greedy. They are taking advantage to others weaknesses for their own sake and for them to earn in a quickies way. They are lazy because they don't want to find a decent job for them to earn clean money. Scammers are good in making dirty tricks, they don't care what others might lose because of them. They are just after themselves, and don't care about the others as long as they earned a lot.
It's their way of earning money even it's bad and this is the simplest way for them to earn by scamming people. They Don't care if it's bad as long as they earn. This people won't stop scamming others because it's their nature. That's why we need to be careful in trusting other people or investing in a project.

One of the examples here in this forum if I'm not mistaken is that in airdrop community. They are giving free tokens so that you can easily earn without exerting much effort. They task is only to filled up the application form so that they could easily sent those tokens to the participants.
People scam not because they've got no idea how to make money but because they are lazy. Everyone knows how to make money. Everyone knows how to climb their way to the top of the social ladder. Everything is on the Internet nowadays. You can learn everything. Anything that you want to know more about is just one search away. People are scamming people because they don't want to do these things. They don't want to go to the normal route. They are stubborn to learn something new.
While there are some people just lack the motivation to try to learn new things, there are people that simply wants the easy way. Scamming people are easy. You only have to make them believe that you are legit. Make them think that the deal is good enough and that they should send the money first. There are also people that are actually enjoying taking advantage of people lesser than them. It's not a hard thing to scam a regular joe if you know a couple of things in deceiving people and manipulating them.
Regardless of their reasoning, I don't see myself going high in life in the expense of taking people down.

Some people are in real bad situation but unlike others,they just want to deceive. So we really need to choose who is the real helpless.
