The owner could make more then $400 with that account...which leads me to believe it is just cheap enough for someone to think its a real offer.

Too good to be true

They could use the account to join signatures campaigns, the higher your position on this forum the more signature space you can use.

This is difficult to measure. If it was last year, then you can make money through a bounty, but this year it is very difficult and there are few good projects.

As this forum is monetized by ICO campaigns and services regarding bitcoin then you earn money for advertising on bitcointalk forum.
The Bitcointalk forum monetized by ads.

Selling accounts is highly risky because if noticed some accounts here are called trusted members and if they notice that there was an account trade done they will flag your account by simply giving you negative trust. With negative trust your account is limited to enter less campaigns. So there is huge risk involved if you are looking into buying one, not to mention that there are many scams around as well.
I don't think its has high risk to buy account instead it is prohibited, I'm actually against it since "Account sales encourage scams, spam, and account farming."

I dont use this forum that much but was thinking here..
why pay $400 for something that you can do manually by yourself?  Roll Eyes

where can you get so cheaply?

any legends selling their account for 400 bucks are mad. You may as well do a couple of weeks sig campaign and get that just from that.

I guess that the only legendary accounts which get sold are those which have been stolen, so the thief tries to capitalize before the account is eventually turned back to his owner or redtrusted. I cannot imagine a real Legendary selling his account.

I don't think that's possible. Why would a guy having a legendary account sold for only $400? Getting to that rank for me seems to be impossible for now especially during this time where merits is very necessary to increase a rank. If that is true, then perhaps it could have a red flag with negative trust that is why he sold it for that amount.

I mean $400 was so cheap for those legend account,  it does sounds funny buying a legendary account but it take your time so long actually to get those rank level. So it's kinda deserved thing I mean for the people who want to sell their account for that price evenmore. Well, if you do bitcoin as a workers and do some bounty project I think you know the challenge.

Some people want to buy bitcointalk accounts (especially with high rank) in order to earn big from signature campaigns. Imagine that a usual reward for legendary member in a single campaign in weekly basis  can be up to .01 btc which is equivalent to Php10k in our country, to be honest that's a lot of money already.

Anyway, Yes! You're right that you can make it by yourself but that's not so simple because even how many and good your posts are you only get 14 activities per week and you will wait years before you accumulate the required activity for a legendary member. Besides, it becomes harder because of the implementation of merit system. For these reasons, beginners or even low rank members here are tempted to buy an account.

I guess it will be hard seeing that anywhere and in case you see it anywhere, it's likely to be scam.
Why not contribute to the community and get merited for your contributions while you rank up? Just beware when you see account selling and report to help make this forum better. It's as illegal as taking cocaine through the airport.

The chances are that every one of them wants in speed to get something and by paying it will get faster, and hence can get faster results, maybe that's why.

First, they're going to be able to use the account for some signature campaigns. This is without a doubt, with their rank, going to bring them a good amount of money. Also, they could use their account as collateral for a loan, which is going to allow them usage to a good amount of capital in a short amount of time. Lastly, they even have the trust of being a legendary account on here, something which ISN'T EASY at all to come by now that the merit system has been put into place.

Makes sense to pay this amount, with the amount sig camps are paying right now. They'll make their money back relatively fast.

I've never been too fond of the idea of buying other peoples' accounts; it's unethical and flat out wrong.
Why not just pout in the work the honest way and contribute to the forum with your own insight?

Because they can earn more than $400 if you use it. And the higher the rank, the higher they have the trust and the reputable they have in the forum. It really takes time to put your rank in legendary at all.

I agree with you, that selling accounts are prohibited, it's a very low price for legendary accounts, even legendary earnings can be greater than $ 400.

I think 4 years will not be enough to create a legendary account today, because it is not easy to get 1000 merits.

Try and wait for 4 years if you can try to rank up by your self, I think it would take more than that with merits to consider. Be warned that some legendary accounts for sale is hacked by someone and therefore would be banned occasionally due  to sudden appearance when it was long gone for how many years. By the way the most important thing is, selling accounts are strictly prohibited.

CoinMetro - the future of exchanges
If $400 is low according to an earlier poster, quite fascinating.
I haven't gotten any bounty rewards yet even if I joined alot, but I do see the stake differences in them, but a couple of weeks of signature bounty alone giving $400?
No wonder everyone wants merit  Cheesy

I think it is unethical to sell accounts on bitcointalk . I think this is because of many money making projects that are popping up in the cryptosphere, namely ICOs and their related bounties. These gigs attract many to the scene who are looking to make money either in an honest way or not so honest way. For example if your are doing a signature bounty then having a high rank account would be very very lucrative. I think these sort of activities ( selling accounts for money ) should be stopped.
I believe it’s one of the reasons why they introduced the the merit systems as well so that not only the activity of the members that helps them to rank up but also whether other members find their posts to be good as well for this forum.

the task of this forum is to make the ICO or ITO viral so that investors are interested and many investors come from this forum...
the legendary is the highest level and the most influential in this forum, by the way traded accounts are strictly prohibited in this forum !!!

They could use the account to join signatures campaigns, the higher your position on this forum the more signature space you can use. But it could also be used for bad things, for example scamming with a good reputation. It is a mystery for me, why the staff seems to tolerate account selling on here.
