Its the bankers coin. Huge centralized POS but if its been deemed the bankers coin then it will most likely outperform. I own a .25 bitcoin position at I think it was .26 cents. I plan on just holding it and see what happens. It's a fairly small position so I'm gonna let it ride up to 2 bucks or so and try to squeeze out a few Bitcoins.

considering XRP was at it's peak was close to $4? it's not right to say popular in that sense, considering it lost 90% of it's value. it might be one of the highest marketcap coins but it's mostly living on the beginner-friendly and media-covered angle in my opinion, since it doesn't serve much use beyond "investing for profit" for regular people.
Ripple has been successful to tie up it's partnership with both traditional banks and renowned crypto projects and they are in development of many products including and not limited to a international money transfer, international bank transfer and a new coin to compete with Ethereum.
Just because a coin is currently enjoying a pump doesn't mean it's popular. I can find little reason for the current pump so suspect a price fall in the coming days or weeks for XRP. As for its overall popularity it interacts with some major banks and despite lots of discern about the not so decentralized nature of XRP it can easily attract many investors.
