Activity is based on the 2 weeks period you were a member in and not on number of post or just the registration date..
The most vital part here is your registration date. If you've registered 3 month's ago your activity simply can not be more then ~70-84. Your activity will raise 14 per 2 weeks max.
Activity depend on time too so it's not as easy as just posting (check the sticky topic for details)
I have 253 posts and 253 activity. 
I have 818 posts and and 168 activity even thought i'm here since 2012 
I have 325 posts but my activity is still 56?

and in two weeks time it will me 84 if you will post 14 posts during this period of time He doesn’t need to make 14 posts. Just one every period when your post count is much higher than your activity.

You need to post in those two weeks or you will get 0+ activity.

He does need to post once, but doesn't need to post 14 times to get 14 activity.

Based on the time from registration (the two weeks periods you have been active in more specifically) each = 14 activity new or your post count [lowest value of the two].
Ok in simple language pandher you activity can only increase upto 14 in every 2 weeks. No matter how much you post or spend time online it will only increase maximum 14 in every 2 weeks of time.

Your account was been created in Feb 4 and in March 4 you just completed 1 month mean till now only 3 activity cycle and just reach 4th one so you are in 56 now, your next activity upgrade will be on 4th or 5th of April, normally in 30 minutes but according to cycle on that day just count 14 days cycle.
In fact, each "2 week period" starts and ends at the same time for everybody, and it is not related to the account register time.
The next period will start on Apr 1.

I have 42 post with almost same activity that doesn't mean that my activity is moving together with posts, Activity is calculated in 2 week base and in that 2 week also you must be active, if you are not active in those 2 weeks for single post then your 2 weeks activity will be lost. Making 100s of post in a day will not increase your activity. I have been active everyday for atleast 10 hours daily from february.

Post count is only part of the story.
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Activity is updated every 30 minutes.
