Heh yes, this thread kinda approves my point that ICO bounty campaigns are pretty much useless. They don't benefit the projects as 99% of the participants are there to get some free tokens and dump them right away, and considering the most obvious efforts to gain subscribers in social media and so on there's a giant blob of bounty hunters just subscribed to each other with zero advertising capability. Projects just lose money because they have to feed bounty hunters and then they lose again when all the dumpers drop their token exchange rate and make the project even less valuable.

On the other hand, to prevent massive spam on the forum, you need to introduce, to be fair, obviously BS schemes like merit that harm normal users. Even paid subscriptions would be better, I believe. For like $5 a year.

P.S. Did anyone of you actually click the spambanner in someone's footer for once? I doubt that Cheesy

I would be willing to pay $5 dollars a year if it helped moderate the place, it would reduce people with multiple accounts that way too.

Hi guys,
I was just wondering why so many haters and spammers are getting away with so much abuse and off topic garbage.
Im a member of many forums of all different subjects, and I see these kind of people get banned all the time, but not on here, why ?
They seem to spam just to up there post count, and most seem to have gained some merits, and are advertising in their signatures.
Am I the only one that thinks its wrong ?
Rick
Bitcointalk is a open source. Its true many of the member are spammer but some rules and action will protect them for sure. You will not one to eradicate the whole haters and spammer they should be banned and restricted by moderator.

As the merit was already implemented, I think posting too much in off topic is now okay, some enjoy their interaction their since their no messenger here, we have inbox but theirs limit in sending, not like messenger in FB one type one click and that's it, since they increase their activity but their rank stays the same, but answering a question off topically, just click the report option.

Those ones seem to try joining campaigns and get free (almost free) money, then dump the coins they get to earn fiats as soon as possible. They don't care about what will happen with their accounts or projects they participated, I guess. Of course, they don't contribute anything to both projects and the forum at all.

Haha people hate each other that's a natural thing, spamming also is natural thing, since people tends to post same thread without knowing it was already placed since they used different words and diffinition, maybe when they used the search button it wasn't there there so they created the thread.... That's why spamming happen naturally

This reply is a complete pile of shit.

In order for this forum (and any other) to remain useful, and on-topic, moderation is required. Regardless of any ridiculous "decentralized" claims. Can you imagine if we only had one decentralized forum in the whole world for any topic at all?

You mean something like 4Chan?  Roll Eyes

Your post isn't spam at all. But the reality is that the mods are unpaid volunteers, and there aren't enough of them. The addition of Merit as a requirement to rank up is significant (although already being abused, unfortunately), but it's not a magic bullet.

That's not true, at all. Mods ARE being paid. See the current forum's expenses.

We just need more mods. And less fools like covfefe.

Agreed, but i'm guessing that there is probably a pretty good reason why we haven't gotten more mods yet, -- Maybe he is waiting on the new forum interface before trusting more people with that kind of access?

This is what I just wonder about. I'm a complete newbie, and in these days I read a lot of thread, just to become familiar.
But it seems to me that a lot of posts have nothing to do with bitcoin but are just pure spam or useless flame.
Keep reading, we'll see.

Haha human rights, free speech? Give me a break. There's no free speech in the world. Just go outside and start shouting racial slurs. If you're a white guy and start walking around the streets in the US, the land of the free, saying that all niggers should be hanged and KKK rules you'll either be arrested, beaten, or killed, depending on the area where you decide to do it.
You may have your own opinions but the forum is being maintained by by admins and it's their choice if they allow you to express them or not. I've seen many people banned because they were talking shit and trolling.
Spammers, fudders should definitely be banned (permanently). Doing this will help the forum cleaner, better place for discussions.

Let me disagree with you. Spammers on this forum are moderated cleanly, and as for the haters freedom of speech is still here. Only real conflicts are not encouraged. People earn money here, and everything that concerns good earnings is not always accompanied by courtesy.

Before you set out to answer that question you need to separate the haters from the spammers. They are not the same and their motives differ. Haters just don't like this forum, spammers often spam because they have something to gain.

Though there is some moderation, It's a free forum. Everyone can do anything they like and the quality depends on the preference of the viewer.
In my opinion, your post is a spam which advocates against the free speech, decentralization, human rights and democracy.

Oh come on, please get off the high righteous horse. Not everything in life is subjective and if it was, it's easy to take side of those rebelling against the norm and be perceived as a hero. There is a reason why the term "spam" exists and to consider that a violation of free speech or human rights? Let's not play devil's advocate...sorry for the spam post!

When the day comes I will get my first merit, will I be available to give merit to others as well ?

Each received merit gives the receiver 0.5 sMerits (spendable), so you will need to receive at least two merits to give one.
