So here I am looking at Coin Market Cap and the supply of coins. I'm just curious why the hell people invest in coins with a huge supply. Coins like Ripple, Tron, Cardano, Stellar Lumens, IOTA, and Tether, just to name a few. All of which have a supply into the BILLIONS. Thoughts?

*I've bought Tron and have gotten rekt since but am still learning.
People invest in coins with a huge supply, as in such coins huge liquidity, these coins are traded on almost all exchanges, the volatility on these coins is less than on coins with less capitalization. I think these reasons are sufficient.

Even with a large supply if the token will gain a lot of usage then why bother the number.

Well you can also see how much money is circulating.
If there is one question that is really hard to explain is, how did it end up like that?
How did iy grow so huge that it went to billions of dollars?
Do people really believe that much in those coins?

Coin supply isnt really a big thing,a coin which has big supply but well distributed to the people is better than a coin with small suppy which most of its supply is being handled by the founders and developers,so the distribution of a coin should be considerable so that people will still invest to the coin even if the coin has large supply, the quality of the product would be another factor ,and lastly the developer's credibility.

I did not buy the Throne before, now & ever. I buy only those coins I believe in. I believe that projects like Dragonchain, NEO, Power Ledger will change the world. They will develop and their coins will grow. I also buy Bitcoin and Ether because I believe in them. And why do you buy coins?

You are complaining why people are investing in cryptocurrencies with huge supply but you said that you bought Tron. so what is the reason you bought Tron in the first place? There is nothing wrong with investing with a coin that has huge supply, if you look at the price of those coins they hardly hit even $1 because even there is a high demand if there is a large amount of supply in circulation, the price will only move slowly. But investing with those coins has also an advantage, like you can buy a lot of coins because it is more cheaper but since the price can only grow slower compared to Bitcoin you will end up holding those coins for long term to gain large profit.

Why do you care about the supply?  In digital, a large pizza with a hundred slices is the same as a large pizza with only two.

What's wrong with huge supply? Market cap is what you need to consider. It doesn't matter if you buy 100,000 of a coin at $1 and it grows 10% or 1 of a coin at $100,000 and it grows 10%. High market cap coins just mean there's less room to grow.

Because all we need to know is to tal Marketcap of that coins. If a coin with huge supply, price per coin was low, and investor just care about how much money did they invest in and if price grow up, they'll earn profit  Grin

A large supply is equal to a small one. If you buy 10 coins of a max supply of 21 million at $100 each, or 1,000 coins of a 2.1 billion supply coin you have the same potential.  If it goes up 30%, you've still made $300. Plus, in the future, large supply coins may become less volatile.

Somewhere in the Ether
Yen and Euros have quite a large supply in circulation.

What matters most are how well is the currency distributed among others.
What you can buy or sell with it, and if it will be honored as payment.

For IOTA, I know that the currency will only be as good as the partnerships that they acquire to get manufacturers to use IOTA as payment between machines.

There are millions of machines being used everyday (IOT Devices, Amazon Alexa, Google Mini, Smartphones, Tablets, Refrigerators, Lights, ETC) that can benefit from this method of payment between services.

If your refrigerator comes with A Built-In Repair Insurance in the form of IOTA, The Refridgerator can pay for its own repair service, or reorder food from instacart/amazon key without you being involved.

Your Self Driving Car, can pay the dealership mechanic for any maintenance issues, Pick up more fuel/Recharge and park itself in your garage, while you nap.

Instead of fumbling around for quarters at parking meters and at toll lines, you zip right through because your car makes the payments.

Digital currency can enable alot of interesting scenarios, and you will want to be holding alot of it, before it comes.

Why do you buy bitcoin?

The more sustainable or known that currency is more power it has... Also Bitcoin is the best because it's decentralized.. And also, what do you think will happen if btc moons?
All altcoins will come after with great price, so mostly it's better to have in btc, because when btc moons, other crypto goes cheaper against btc.

If you buy some coins and hodl them why not?
Because, IOTA and ADA are great crypto, all other that you mention are garbage or centralized and the biggest scams ever probably....

also i still buy them some because I didn't have them before(IOTA, ADA)..., for hodling, the right time for buying it's allmost anytime... if you wait for the right moment you can do even better...

Because the believe in the technology behind the coin, its not about supply because supply is just one factor that you need to be considered before investing, technology and product/services that the coin has to offer, the roadmap of the developers and the credibility of the people behind these coins, theres a lot of factor,if the coin has huge supply but they have given big amout of supply to the public, that wont be a problem

but if the coin is like XRP which the develoeprs and founders has the most supply, STAY AWAY

I think it depends on the idea. Also, the supply may be large, so it's meant for the long term. Personally not a fan of large supplies.

You ask why, yet you bought Tron yourself? Perhaps ask yourself why you bought that Tron it will be the best insight. The main reason I see people wanting to buy big supplies is because they want to own a large amount and want to own more than one coin. If you had $100 you could either have 0.01 Bitcoin but if it was Ripple lets say you could have 50 Ripple at that price. People like to own more than one of something, and that also applies to cryptocurrencies.
