Topic: Why the US Government Is Terrified of Hobbyist Drones (Read 2567 times)

I think a lot of people will be terrified of drones especially when we start seeing them flying above us all the time. I think there could be massive privacy concerns as well. People will use them to terrorize neighbors and stalk ex girlfriends etc. All seems very distopian.

How to let "them" aka we the people have skills that can be harvested while keeping the domination on the people... harder than it appears to manage.

Government is more afraid of something else. They are afraid that people will find out that they can actually put the U.S. government down any time they want. The only two things holding the people back are: 1) they don't realize that they can do it or how; 2) some government laws are logical, so the people willingly obey them.

Take a look what Karl Lentz has to say about when some U.S. Marshals attempted to stop the law he was using. They wound up being friends - well, one of them, anyway - with him, because he is using the law in a simple way that can free people without the use of drones. With camera outfitted drones, combined with the law the way Karl uses it, no more income taxes, no more driving laws, no more drug raids for nothing, lots of innocent people out of prison, lots of government injustice reversed.

That's exactly spot-on! They are afraid and have no control over hobby drones...yet!

I think this event just goes to prove how unprepared the US government is to defend against small drone attacks.

Maybe they should create a defensive shield or screening device for drones that fly near vital areas?

I think drones will become a big problem in the future. The terrorists could plan t a bomb on them ,and control and manipulate it remotely, to detonate almost anywhere sitting far away.

The "terrorists" have already been doing it for years.  Roll Eyes

I agree. But the thinking behind the terrorism is something like this.

The big bankers and oil people who run the government - the real terrorists - are trying to keep the U.S. dollar strong so that they can continue to control oil and the world through it.

Back in the mid '90s, they did to Kuwait, the same things that they are doing to Iraq, now. They took the Kuwaiti dinar, devalued it, then conquered Kuwait, and then revalued the Kuwaiti dinar to be near that of the U.S. dollar. They did this to prop the U.S. up with the oil of Kuwait.

This same basic thing is happening in Iraq right now. Iraq is close to becoming the "ally" that the bankers and oil people want. Afghanistan is a problem, but it, too, may finally be showing signs of succumbing.

At the time that we started the war with Iraq, the Iraqi dinar was valued at about 3.5 dinars to the dollar. Now it is valued at about 1165 dinars to the dollar. When we finally take over Iraq, and absorb them into our "oil society" so to speak, the Iraqi dinar will be re-valued to approximately equal to the dollar.

What does this have to do with the drones? The drones are being used to get rid of the dissidents, the anti-American Al-Qaeda, and others, the ones who are keeping us from the way we own the oil. The innocent people killed in the drone wars, are simply, incidental casualties of war, although their deaths may actually prop up our gains in our war for Middle East oil more than is understood.

The point? Twofold. It's all about oil and petro-dollars. If we win Iraq before the dollar crashes, the Iraqi dinar will revalue to near the price of the dollar, and those people who bought 1,000,000 Iraqi dinars for $1,000 USD, will be millionaires or close.

It is terrifying what hobbyists are doing with drones nowadays compared to what the government is using them for.

The other side of it is, if enough common people attach cameras to drones, they will be able to record all the bad stuff government does. Videos of recognizable government people or government vehicles could cause all kinds of Senate inquiries into why government was doing whatever it was doing wherever it was doing it. This could get certain government agencies stripped of their funding, certain government people prison terms, and the objectives and agendas of the One-World-Government-Elite set back for years if not forever.

That guy is an idiot. He just mumbled a bunch of unintelligible gibberish while doing an unintentional Christopher Walken impersonation. Here is verbatim what he said:

Exactly. I've seen someone recommending this guy on here before as if he's some courtroom magician. He talks absolute bullshit and anyone who thinks he can get you off jailtime is an idiot. If his system for beating The System worked everybody would be using it and there would be countless stories of it actually working not just a load of waffle.

You do understand that there are actual cases where this man completely destoyed the oposite side with his "bullsh?t", and its all publicly available.
There are a lot of things you need to explore before telling someone that he is an idiot.
I agree that theres no chance you can use this to get away with anything, but you sure can help yourself with this sometimes.

Quote from: Karl Lentz, Master Baffoon
Well a person-- well, a man or woman-- when they enter into the court, better come into the court... house with their court, and their courtiers. They better not be coming in a courthouse in somebody else's case or then they're going to be defined by the rules of the court in which they're entering into. Because when I bring my court to court, I'm gonna have my court at the county court, or at the federal court. I'm not gonna be in the federal court because to be in a court, you're to be bound by the elements of that court and the rules of that court. Like if we were gonna meet at-- would you rather meet me at that big tree or at that rock, or would you rather meet me in that rock? If we meet at the rock, it's not gonna be too painful, but if we meet in the rock you're considered an element of that rock and we're gonna be bound by the laws of physics or whatever law that court or that rock, you know, subscribes to. The rules of that court are gonna be held within that rock, you see what I'm saying?

I find it hard to believe anyone can see what he's saying. What's for certain is that nothing he said is a legal concept, it's hardly even a concept. New flash: refusing to submit to the jurisdiction of a court is not a defense, and doesn't magically keep the court from claiming jurisdiction over you. The courts do not need your consent to have jurisdiction over you, and you cannot bring 'your own court' to court to challenge the legitimacy of the court. Most importantly, none of this gobbledygook releases you from the verdict of the court.

LOL have you ever listened to legal proceedings of a court? They just as incoherent, until not so long ago you had to study Latin to become a lawyer  Grin

In my country, no matter how right u may be, the jusge would scentance you anyways, but damn that was awesome.

@op regarding drones, drones are relatively new tech on the market, and therefore have little law regulation, but that will surely change.
it is obvious that the tech can be used for many illegal activities, and they have every right to regulate it, but not to ban it ofcourse.

cheers

If only everyone knew Common Law and were able to express themselves as well as Karl Lentz there would be no injustices perpetrated by the courts against them. I am aware of Common Law, yet I would not be able to express myself well enough in order to prevent the courts from molesting me and my rights.

I don't see how anyone could ever be surprised anymore by a terror threat.  It's random and just when you let your guard down there's another attack.  Attacks occur around the world just about every day as far as I can tell from the news and then there is the stuff that doesn't make the news.

Of course the gov't has to do something about drones.

The government has to go after the perpetrators of these attacks.
Make sure they have nowhere to hide.

Better yet, the government has to stop creating them.

@Mr Tea that always happens. But in a different way. Black torture sites already exist in America. The police is getting even more militarized. Maybe some incidents with drones will happen. But more likely they will be used against the population. In one way or another.

Yep. Nothing they can do to stop advancements in technology other than learn how to deal with it. With the rise of 3d printers it probably wont be long before people can print out their own drones. America can't really complain about the dangers of them either when they've been routinely using them to murder muslims for years. I'm sure their chickens will come home to roost at one point.

Frankly I'm surprised it took people this long to work out you could do the exact same thing the Americans are doing but with those consumer drones, obviously I wasn't going to go posting this shit up everywhere because then some psychopaths might try it but it honestly crossed my mind more than once. You could even do the same with remote controlled cars that you get in toy stores if you wanted to cause some chaos but obviously to have a chance against armoured vehicles flying drones are a better option.

With technology like this, the battlefield is going to start levelling out, the U.S won't have such a strangehold on the world anymore.

Quote
If you want to understand why the government freaked out when a $400 remote-controlled quadcopter landed on the White House grounds last week, you need to look four miles away, to a small briefing room in Arlington, Virginia. There, just 10 days earlier, officials from the US military, the Department of Homeland Security, and the FAA gathered for a DHS “summit” on a danger that had been consuming them privately for years: the potential use of hobbyist drones as weapons of terror or assassination.

The conference was open to civilians, but explicitly closed to the press. One attendee described it as an eye-opener. The officials played videos of low-cost drones firing semi-automatic weapons, revealed that Syrian rebels are importing consumer-grade drones to launch attacks, and flashed photos from an exercise that pitted $5,000 worth of drones against a convoy of armored vehicles. (The drones won.) But the most striking visual aid was on an exhibit table outside the auditorium, where a buffet of low-cost drones had been converted into simulated flying bombs. One quadcopter, strapped to 3 pounds of inert explosive, was a DJI Phantom 2, a newer version of the very drone that would land at the White House the next week.

Attendee Daniel Herbert snapped a photo and posted it to his website along with detailed notes from the conference. The day after the White House incident, he says, DHS phoned him and politely asked him to remove the entire post. He complied. “I’m not going to be the one to challenge Homeland Security and cause more contention,” says Herbert, who runs a small drone shop in Delaware called Skygear Solutions.

The White House drone, of course, wasn’t packing an explosive and wasn’t piloted by a terrorist—just a Washingtonian who lost control of the device while playing around in the wee hours. But the gentle censorship directed at Herbert illustrates how serious the issue is to counterterrorism officials.

A Drone Maker Takes Decisive Action
The Phantom line of consumer drones made by China-based DJI figures prominently in the government’s attack scenarios. That’s not because there’s anything sinister about DJI or the Phantom—in fact, just the opposite. The Phantom is the iPod of drones, cheap, easy to use, and as popular with casual and first-time fliers as with experienced radio control enthusiasts.
