I think the major reason is to take care of the earth. If we analyze it properly, one will notice that only us have been blessed with such capabilities. We possess control over every other living thing. I don't think this comes to be coincidentally. From the Christian point of view, I would also say in order to worship God. But I'm sure many will disagree. I hope many agree with my first opinion anyway. And honestly, we humans must take this responsibility more seriously and stop doing otherwise. Destroying the earth.
How we can find our mission?
I think we're in this world to go through this way till the end and live this life with dignity, to test yourself and see what we're worth. And only after death we'll get to know if we passed this exam.

We are in this world to fulfill God's will in our life, we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, we are in the world to manifest God's glory. Though everyone do not have same perspective about live, your motive of existence in the world may be quite different from mine.
