In my humble opinion, yes. Ethereum as a project has many more real case uses, and the number of developers building on top of it is unprecedented on the crypto world. Meanwhile Bitcoin is stuck not being able to scale to 2mb even after 2 years of heavy debate within the community.
Bitcoin will always be the cornerstone crypto and most tradable.
But, Ethereum is doing more on the development of blockchain side of things.
Surpass in tech, yes, definitely. Currency wise, not so sure.

Bitcoin ofcouse is the main cryptocurrency but what do you guys think of long term value of Ethereum? seems that developers do not like it much but its applications seems limitless. could it surpass bitcoin in future?
I know everybody are looking for a great opportunity in terms of gaining investment. If people having found in ethereum, it might change their mind and put their money in ethereum. But as we recall its history, bitcoin is still having a huge potential in earning profit and having a chance of surpassing bitcoin by ethereum is very impossible. 
If we draw an analogy bitcoin is like bank system while Ethereum is industrial sector. I suppose bitcoin will be TOP-1 coin for very long time.
This is just a pretty good way of putting it. There will be so many development for bitcoin to make it remain at the top of its own game judging even from the recent developments now, but that will never make it surpass bitcoin at the long run. There are so many alternatives coming up for eth and if ethereum does not stay at least one or two step ahead of its game, it might even be surpassed by these alternatives.
I dont think it is possible but this is life and literally anything is possible so maybe there is an off chance this occurs. But I can only see that happening if bitcoin some how messes up, not through ethereum excelling .

Anything can possible in cryptocurrency but the thing is supply when compared to Bitcoin, Eth has huge supply and when it comes to growth Bitcoin is already expanding it network. In some countries Bitcoin is another option for payments but ETH is not up to the mark.
ethereum will remain number 2 under the care of bitcoin, but it can not be denied if ETH has a bright future.

I do not think that in the foreseeable future, the etherium will outstrip bitcoin. Both coins are very promising and they have a future, but bitcoin is more popular and supportive, and the course between them is too different. However, in many ways it will depend on the team of developers of these coins, how quickly they will eliminate their emerging vulnerabilities and improve their technology. After all, it may happen that some other, more perfect coin will take a leading position.

In terms of value per coin it would be impossible to surpass bitcoin because it has only 21 Million supply but in terms of overall marketcap it would be possible because ethereum has more supply than bitcoin.

All depend on the cryptocurrency of bitcoin. We see it all the time. Until the rising price of bitcoin is increasing and the price of Ethereum. Of course this does not apply to such moments as we saw before the fork. at this point, the price of cryptocurrencies is reduced because the capital is removed to buy bitcoins, but then the capital is returned. And of course a limited amount of coins bitcoin will restrain inflation. The Ethereum on the contrary has no restrictions on mining and it will inevitably lead to inflation.

The main thing to believe! If you are interested in this coin, you mean you earn it. Just believe and everything will come true.

I think it is likely that ETH will pass BTC in market cap, but perhaps not in importance. For people who are not involved in cryptocurrencies, the only name they know is Bitcoin... and I think it will remain this way for quite a while.
No never, not any alt will do this.
First of all, anything can happen in crypto world. Right now there is no huge barrier in the way of Bitcoin due to which it is growing at a great pace but future is unpredictable and hence crypto. It is totally possible that people may dump Bitcoin in the future and move to different alt due to some strong reason.
Secondly, if Bitcoin stays long in the market, Ethereum can hardly surpass Bitcoin basically because there is limit on supply of Bitcoin but no limit on Ethereum. Moreover, Bitcoin price is comparatively higher than Ethereum but Ethereum growth rate is higher than Bitcoin. Also, there exists a speculation that if Ethereum growth rate goes the same way it is right now, it can also equalize or overtake Bitcoin in future. Lastly, one should quote Bitcoin may be the king of cryptocurrency but Ethereum progress cannot be ignored.

Ethereum is good and sure is coming up with lots of development but I really still do not see how it is going to surpass bitcoin now or in the future. It has its own advantages and it will definitely grow, and as long as it keeps growing, bitcoin keeps growing too.That first movers advantage will always be there for bitcoin, but we surely don't know what happens in future, but to me it seems impossible.
I think ethereum will not go beyond bitcoin. quite difficult in my opinion. bitcoin is the mother of altcoin.

There is information that 95% of bitcoins belong to 1% of people. And these people are very interested in the bitcoin growth. I think that the bitcoin price will only grow.

Ethereum is a coin which has alot of potential and is the platform which hosts most of the new projects and ICOs. The team is strong and the project seems very promising but i don't think that ethereum will be able to surpass Bitcoin in the long run as Bitcoin is the master of all cryptocurrencies. It is the most popular crypto and is the most widely accepted crypto available in the market. I don't think that ethereum will be able to surpass Bitcoin as it is nowhere as popular and as stable as Bitcoin. Jump to:
