I would say definitely. I have faith in the system and it has been around for 6 years or so and the price of it has jumped so dramatically. I don't see why not that bitcoins can't last another 5 years. Also bear in mind that only in 2140 will all the bitcoins be dug up. I doubt everyone will stop using bitcoins in 5 years.

I guess I am like most people with the hopes that bitcoin will only grow. I can see it stabalizing around the $1000 mark in 5 years pretty easily. I think this should be a good goal for bitcoin in the coming years.

I'm sure bitcoin will be much more bigger than now Smiley
In 2020, there will be more bitcoiner & less bitcoin issued. SO i'm sure bitcoin price will be much more better than now

Maybe about $5k

i'm undecided, but i think yes it will be still here, maybe side by side with a new type of currency?

and price obviously will be high, i would say 10k for sure, 100k would be too far stretched i think

$10k is good enough.
10 bitcoins would be more than a year's salary for most people.

do you guys think it is possible to go  $10k/btc by 2020?

In almost 6 years of time so many things can happen. No one here can predict what the price will be in 2020.
Could be 10K, could be less, could be more.

True. Bitcoin is such a speculative asset. No one can predict what exactly will the price be 5 years from now.

This may not be a good thing though as bitcoin was made to be spent not held and sold... I think the price will grow when we see more and more use for the coin. In my country I can just about buy anything now with bitcoin which I will be taking up soon using a bitcoin debit card.

Yup definitely right. Bitcoin isn't designed to be an investment, it is designed to be used as a currency. But what's really happening is that most users treat bitcoin as an asset, thus going against what it was meant to be used as.

I think this is a big problem with where we are at right now, if it continues like this it may be unlikely that bitcoin will become a widely used currency. We are at a point where we create the outcome IMO.

It's hard to change every users' mindset, and we cannot deny the fact that in the current times, we are still bound to some other currencies, and the norms of the society dictates that everything we need is in terms of those currencies. Bitcoin is valued and priced with those currencies, and the value fluctuates wildly--people tend to ride the wave upwards then trade bitcoin to those currencies, in this case, bitcoin isn't used as money and is used as an investment that gained value over time.

Bitcoin will always be around but the question is how much will a coin be worth. It could go back to a few bucks or soar to thousands all depending on upcoming news

I think if it's alive by 2019 it will have reached the 50000 mark.

Hmm hard to tell. At the current conditions of the market, it is hard to see a price of $500, but again, 5 years is a lot of time to speculate. We don't know whether we'll see a price of $10k or we'll have a valueless coin.

I am thinking can't bitcoin coexist with the legacy financial system. Because it can either take it over, or it will fail. It's hard for me to see bitcoin value still high in 2019.

We have not seen any "here to stay" bitcoin companies besides coinbase, and maybe bitpay but I am skeptical about them.

All of these other companies that got media attention have not reached the point where you can see them around in 5 years. I expect 75% of them to go bust.

I doubt it will ever fail, looking at the advantages it has over the existing system. I feel they will coexist.

But people have to adopt it for it to succeed. Unless that happens, it will havev a hard time succeeding.

5 years is a lot of time for adoption to happen. Slowly we will get there, but within 5 years? Maybe it will become widespread and more people will use it, and by then we can concur that we have a successful currency within our reach. Wink

Definitely yes. Bitcoin will probably be around in the next 5 years. In regards to the price, I can't assume an exact value because the markets are very hard to predict, so is the time frame that you've given. So yeah, it will be around.
