For most people, mining and buying are the easiest ways to get them.  That will change over time as the market grows.  Penetration is low so far, so it is hard to work for coins directly, because finding people that know about and have coins is still rare.  This will improve.

I am philosophically against selling Bitcoins, I only buy.

I can honestly say that I have never exchanged a bitcoin for USD ever.  I am philosophically against buying or selling bitcoins with USD.  I only trade them for goods and services.

Then how do you get them in the first place? Either they were gifted or you have mining equipment that you at one time purchased with USD (perhaps before you considered it for mining).
most miners are gamers who bought their computer to game, mining is just a pure profit bonus.

If i wasnt mining i would still have this computer.

It's still a conversion from USD to bitcoins, because you didn't use bitcoins to get the computer.

No...I didn't buy a computer to game and no I didn't purchase mining equipment.

Or maybe he traded some good or service for them.

Bingo.  Honestly, although I'm a big supporter of bitcoin, I am honestly worried about the economy when I see so many posts from people who assume the only way to get bitcoins is through mining or speculative trade for USD.

Made a mistake at 10.25, thought it was going to drop sub-10's so I kept waiting. Had to buy at 11.9 when the rise was evident, lost $1.65/btc profit eventually at 19.98 sell.

I'm buying tomorrow.

I have a sinking feeling that everybody has seen the correlation between weekends and huge drops in price.  Expect heavy buying tomorrow and Monday morning instead of Tuesday like usual.

I got out early at $27 per, hopefully buy back in around 13-15 sometime tomorrow.

Maybe it will, but i'm no fortuneteller. It's very entertaining right now. I guess, it will fall below, but i may be wrong. If it does, even more sheeps will try to sell their bitcoins, resulting in a even lower price.
