Has anyone seen Bitcoins at stores yet?

Please add emails if you want us to send them out.

I would suppose it just depends all on the merchant. Everybody is free to do what they want to do.

Bitcoin-hotep for sure you should be able to use bitcoins in malls, restaurants and every other place you may think of. And these bitcoins won’t be used in one single country but they would be accepted worldwide so next time you won’t have to go for exchanging your currency before travelling to other country

Want to take a bet for this to be happening in 2014?
Cause I really doubts there will be lots of places you can spend your bitcoins in malls or other stores everywhere in the world.

Does anyone(coinbase, bitpay, etc) offer a service where you can pay at the point of purchase with BTC and the merchant receives USD?

Pretty sure both bitpay and coinbase and offer this.... no ?  I thought they did and I thought they also eat the losses themselves on things like double spending instead of the merchant having to worry about it.

Yeah, think you're correct on both.

I hope we get some Bitcoin ATM machines here in the uk next year. That would really help promotion and legitimise it with the public.

I'm hoping for this also. I haven't heard any definite plans for any, but surely a few must pop up in 2014.

Does anyone know where you buy them from?

https://lamassu.is/

$5,000 each for the lamassu ones.

I've heard this one only works one way Does it let you sell them or buy them? And can you buy them with bitcoins

Been in contact with lamassu since i'm interested in buying one. Sells bitcoin for cash. Put cash, scann QR, confirm btc arrives, very simple. 5000 $ for one, cheaper if you buy many, they prefer Bitcoin but accepts Fiat. Can deliver about mars/april. For future versions they consider two-way and Lightcoin. Haven't checked out the other manufacturer yet.

I heard about something like that called BitPlastic but I am not sure if it's real

I don't know about BitPlastic, but cavirtex is definitely real -  "debit card for bitcoin"is a great idea!

I'll check it out If it's real that could be awesome

Bitplastic has a few fees involved:

Quote
5% conversion fee from Bitcoin to send cash to your card. ATM usage fee is minimal, about $1.50 per transaction. No other fees.

I reckon it'll be easier just to print out a paper wallet or make your own bitcoin debit card with a QR code on or whatever. I'm sure there will be all sorts of services and gizmos for Bitcoin coming out in 2014 to make payment easier.

it would be nice for this to happen, but most likely there will be some form of government resistance. i hope the moment that big brother decides it wants to slam the hammer down, it'll be too late to stop the momement; only slow it down.

Altcoins are the way this will happen The government can regulate bitcoin all it wants as long as we all have altcoins

I 'm not sure about legitimising it. So far whenever bitcoin gets into the radar of authorities bad things happen   Sad

And whatever the authorities start poking their noses in Fox news starts broadcasting about So I can't wait

Can't wait for what? Watch the fox news?  Roll Eyes

No I can't wait for Fox news to be on our side so that old people and tea partiers start buying coins like crazy

"Trading Platform of The Future!"
Eventually, the businesses might realize they should keep the BTC instead of turning it into fiat. This is impossible until other businesses that they rely on start using fiat, etc. hmm...
