In just four months, the 'payment system of the future' has built a network of nearly three million adopters by offering ever-decreasing sums of their future currency in exchange for an e-mail address."

I doubt out of these three million address, actual users might be much less. It is free to create email and many people certainly abused it.
Secondly, generating free cash by just giving email address will not help anybody.

Initiative Q - if it is successful, it will be just another Altcoin, not BTC.

Well it is quite obvious that we need a cryptocurrency that is very faster and convenient to use than bitcoin but i doubt it is going to be Q-Initiative. I believe if there is going to be any coin to replace Bitcoin then it will probably be Ethereum or any of the first major cryptocurrencies. Q-Initiative is a great project but it has not yet gained that popularity like Bitcoin.

I have heard of it in an email from a friend a couple of months ago, and read something about how it was different than Bitcoin. I even took the chance to be a part of what they call an early adopters and recieve a $100 amount in their currency for free  ( It doesnt take away anything from me except the time I spend to register). But, what really bothers me is, how would this project be succesful when there is a succesful currency (Bitcoin) that has the same function and has existed for 10 years already.

No, it will not become new Bitcoin. Many projects and coins were developed with aim to become as much successful as Bitcoin or even to replace it but so war that didn't happen. And I don't think it will.
This Q intitiative doesn't have the necessary potential. It promises some kind of revolution but what can actually achieve and who knows what actually stands behind it? I wouldn't count on it at all.

This seems to be a unique project that has been initiated and into the reach of more user community to make a value for it. Myself got registered and I send invites to three while only one registered it. Even if it succeeds as planned it'll surely serve as an altcoin. Nothing till date has got the potential to take the place of bitcoin.

I had totally forgotten about this nonsense. I had several friends and colleagues in real life, some who know about my love for bitcoin and some who don't, try to sell me on this. I asked them all the same thing - what can this do that bitcoin can't? What are its advantages over bitcoin? Not surprisingly, I never got a sensible answer. None of them have mentioned it since before the new year. I might have to ask them how their get rich quick scheme is coming on.

Turns out my predictions were fairly accurate:
I doubt very much it is going to be successful. It looks more like a multi-level marketing scheme to me - asking everyone to "recruit" 5 friends for more rewards. It is worth nothing and depends entirely on adoption to become valuable, but do you really think the people chasing "get rich quick" MLM schemes are going to be motivated to spread this "currency" for widespread adoption? I doubt it.

When is the project supposed to actually move out of the MLM phase?

Here's an interesting tidbit. Initiative Q has had over 3 million people sign up for their new-and-improved Bitcoin thingy, yet this thread has ONLY [now] 23 posts. Further, click on the link below ...

https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Initiative+Q%22+bitcointalk+site:bitcointalk.org&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS727US727&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjmjsGmwMPgAhWLrVQKHb6DAxsQrQIoBDABegQICRAJ&biw=1164&bih=526

... and you see myriad threads on this forum about Initiative Q, ALL of them deleted excepting this one. How odd is that?

This is not the first time a project has promised to revolutionized the payment system in the world. And this is also not the first time a project developer has talked trash on Bitcoin (or any other cryptocurrency) just to promote their own project. Initiative Q is just like any other sub-par projects out there that is promising their investors that they will earn from them, and even though they are not calling themselves as a cryptocurrency, what they are offering are units called Qs which at on its own has a value.

They can call it whatever they want but what they are doing is basically launching their own cryptocurrency using their invite-only scheme to make it look more "exclusive" for its investors. I'm just tired seeing these kinds of projects mentioning BTC in a negative way to somehow make a point out of it.

"We want Q to become mainstream and that's why we give it away for free to those willing to promote it." - Yea sure, they know if you ask people to pay for something like this, then almost nobody will signup for this service. So this is why new concepts like this are hooking people into projects like this, to speed up adoption.

I think projects like this are not getting the whole picture or vision of a open decentralized payment network that are not controlled by a centralized authority. They will just follow Ripple into the shady world of the Banking industry, where government oversight is mandatory and a requirement for success.   Angry

To have an international currency that can be traded and shared without the ill-equipped processes that are currently in place and cost so much time and money. We want to use technology to trade smarter and more secure.

Sounds like bitcoin to me.
I hope that the initiative was, is and will always be. In our time without it in any way

Initiative Q will be a Centralized Paypal for your cellphone.
https://initiativeq.com

Since there are currently 2 trillion Qs,

Quote
80% are expected to be distributed as incentives — to encourage user activity and promote network growth.
Around half of the incentives are reserved for buyers, and the rest for sellers, agents, contributors, and to incentivize growth-supporting activities within the Q network.
10% are assigned to the Initiative Q payment company, for the purpose of funding development of the world’s most advanced payment network.
10% are assigned to the Q monetary committee monetary reserves. These will be gradually converted to other currencies and financial assets, allowing any Q member to easily convert to other currencies if needed. Monetary committee members will be compensated according to industry standards.

Once the initial 2 trillion Q are fully distributed, the monetary committee may create and distribute new Qs in order to keep the money supply in line with economic activity and to maintain stability, as outlined in the economic model.
Qs vs Crypto

The part where they will scam you is highlighted in red.

Also their math is bad.
80% are expected to be distributed as incentives          =>80%
That only leaves 20% for anything else.

But Yet they pulled another 70% out of their ass.

Around half of the incentives are reserved for buyers     =>50%
10% are assigned to the Initiative Q payment company =>10%
10% are assigned to the Q monetary committee            =>10%
Total Amount They Keep or Sell => 70%
Which leaves only 30% for incentives.

 Cool

FYI:
It is a bullshit ICO for a Centralized Payment Service,
Expect the SEC to rip these idiots a new one before everything is said and done.

Thats what i though about the Ripple giveaway in 2013. Made ~5500$ for free in ~one year, and these were 20k compered to 33k. Wink
Obviously the profits wont be instant like always.
But the project seems promising, especially since the people know what they do, because they worked at the top of PP.

Nope, if this project is successful, it could be a great Altcoin, but can never become or beat Bitcoin.

In our country too I am getting a lot of invites to join this Q project and reading a lot about it. This is getting more and more popular among people and currently they are offering some free tokens as well for registration. Do not know the future of it but obviously nothing near bitcoin it can reach it atleast for next couple of years.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/lelalondon/2018/11/01/is-initiative-q-the-new-bitcoin/#5b7d0a10783f

Interesting project that's so crazy it actually kind of makes sense...:

"Initiative Q is not, in any way, a cryptocurrency. But it might just be the new Bitcoin.

In just four months, the 'payment system of the future' has built a network of nearly three million adopters by offering ever-decreasing sums of their future currency in exchange for an e-mail address."

The more people there are who are willing to use a currency and trust it, the more value it has...

The founder goes on to say,

"The world needs a better payment system. We are glued to its existing infrastructure and the only other option is cryptocurrency, which I don't believe answers the real problems.

Crypto - like all currency - has built its value based on trust but is decentralised from government. It circumvents the systems, which I think most people realise can be as bad as it can be good. We want Q to become mainstream and that's why we give it away for free to those willing to promote it."

"We want to make all financial processes both easier and faster. We want people to be able to pay for a meal like they would an Uber. To use artificial intelligence to allow families and businesses to share accounts. To have an international currency that can be traded and shared without the ill-equipped processes that are currently in place and cost so much time and money. We want to use technology to trade smarter and more secure."

Genius idea or doomed to fail?

So another altcoin soon to be made and attempt to replace Bitcoin now I guess this a centralize altcoin like ripple which I think this is not cryptocurrency , so if this coin will work or will hit to the market so it is find but to be prankly speaking this coin can not replace Bitcoin .
