In Bangladesh, still media spread wrong info on cryptocurrency. It’s still illegal here. As a member of the forum, I feel the necessity of doing something by any means to be honest.
So, I was planning of creating a petition on change.org including all the right info and share this among everyone. Would it really make any difference? Will it be able to get the attention of the government? What do you think?
The intent you have is pretty good but I have hardly seen these change.org petitions having any effects on the governments especially in third world democracies. I think a better idea is to try and lobby the government by forming an association of bitcoiners, better get it registered as a trust in your country, then try to appeal government using the name of the trust and your contacts to overturn the law against bitcoin. Also, a very good motivating factor for you would be if the Indian government somehow brings a law on bitcoin. Because from what can be heard bitcoin is going to be regulated in India which means it would exist and Bangladesh too could copy India's style of regulation for it' economy.

Little mouse is quite famous here in this forum and as a Cryptocurrency follower and user, it is really hard for you to do something that may build a good image into cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is still illegal in some areas of the world and as well as in your country which is Bangladesh. It is really hard for you to make a good move that will help the image of cryptocurrency become better and may help it to become legal in your country. I'm just wishing for the growth of cryptocurrency in your country.

Albeit being a known site for creating petitions and whatnot, I don't think change.org is a the best platform to voice out your opinions and your desire to make a petition regarding misinformation of the media in Bangladesh re: cryptocurrencies. It has to be on official channels recognized by your laws in order for it to be valid, or at least be heard and considered. For this you will require lobbyists with friends from high places, but I understand that it's fairly difficult to achieve this. Nevertheless, you can still create communities and whatnot and discuss things in there. Gather support, and possibly connect with people with more connections for your voices to be heard.
Well, I have community through which I may get 500 sign in for the petition. I think that will be too low to get attention from the media or enough?
There’s another way though. There's a public talk-show- Face the people organized by Saifur Rahman. That would be good but I think I can't reach him.
And there’s no popular site in Bangladesh to share the voice, change.org is more or less popular here.

Now petition isn't a good idea. Rather we can spread the right information about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency through Youtube and Media. You can contact with "Face The People" channel organized by Saiful Sagor if he can arrange a talk show about the importance of Cryptocurrency from the perspective of Bangladesh. It's a good idea i think. Media can play a vital role in spreading right info toward the Govt of Bangladesh. Recently i watched a report telecasted in Somoy TV, they showed the importance and impact of Bitcoin from the perspective of Bangladesh. This type of report can play a vital role but most of the media spread wrong information. So, we can focus on Youtube and Media.

Make sure you use the right petition platform. Some petition websites are better because they make it easy to register with Facebook and share the petition with your Facebook friends. You should spend some time finding the best platform for your petition.

See the main point is that will the government willing to take any appropriate actions for your petition or will it be compiled under the other hundreds of them like human rights, workers demand and some others. The government's will take only action when masses go on rally against them or near the elections otherwise they don't care about anything. The Bangladesh who has population of more than 160 million people even 5-6k signed petitions will not matter them. But big changes are initialised from small community and who knows it turn out to be revolutionary. The developing and under developed countries need to legalize cryptocurrencies for their economic growth which they need to realise.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
You don't need to convince anyone as long as you are using the true/safe crypto. What will happen globally will most likely put critics to shame. They will probably try to change the true name of Bitcoin/crypto to something else to be able to handle the shame while using it in difficult times
This is an important moment in history when people choose where they want to be before a coming hurricane hits everything. Alots are currently busy digging pits they could be buried in forever. Responsible people should not be prevented from choosing what's safest and best for them.

Op, I think it depends on how petitions are treated in your country. In my country, it's possible to file a petition on official websites of the government, to the parliament or to the president. It's very important to file it there officially, and to file it to the relevant authority (because the government, the president and the parliament have different competences), and then there are 90 days to get 25 thousand signatures of my country's citizens. Then the petition receives an official response from the authority, and usually it at least leads to some legislative progress on the matter of the petition. I don't know how it works in Bangladesh, but if it's similar, then it's worth a shot. Good luck!

What would the petition do though? I mean if you aren't a powerful and influential person, I don't think that you will be able to change something in your country through petitions.

Why not go for it mate? you won't lose any, and on the contrary it might attract the attention not only of local Bangladesh, but many bitcoin enthusiast around the world. I know that it's tough that the government is having a anti-bitcoin sentiments, but who knows, maybe they will take a second look and change their tune in the next coming years. At least you are in the forefront and make a big difference on how they look at bitcoin. Several governments in Central America or even neighboring countries in Asia are pro-bitcoin.

Even if you are low in numbers but you have the money, you can take the attention of the medias for paying them by making a press release, petition or paid interview.

But try to unite first with your countrymen that shares the same goal as you in your country. I think that's a good start and foundation if you have people accompanies you with the same goal.

Just as what we know with the quote, 'Vires in Numeris'.

You guys have the strength if you unite.

Yes sir you are absolutely right because our town policy completely opposite of cryptocurrencies business. If cryptocurrencies legalize in Bangladesh, most of the political leaders transfer their black money into cryptocurrencies without any testimony....

still with the same problem that Bangladesh has constraints in the economic sector, funds tend to be heavy for those who have high strata. You may know better how difficult it is in Bangladesh if you are not close to the government. you are just exiled. in other words, even if crypto in Bangladesh is approved by the government, they should be in control and not let the public take free control of their crypto. that's the belief that complicating crypto legality in Bangladesh is complicated.

You may create such a petition and many people (who concern with crypto so far) may help you fulfilling the petition.
But later, the questions are:
- Are most people in your country concern with crypto? If it is still something not "common", they may not agree with the petition and maybe making it worse.
- What things make your country still legalize crypto? If it is about government concerns, I am not sure that it will succeed. Because we all know the power of government and if most of them don't like it, so, we will get nothing. Except, more than 50% of society in the country maybe agrees with the petition.
- If the petition only has a smaller percentage of the society, it may not work well, the government may create bigger and reasons again why crypto is still illegal.
Moreover, if it is backed with media, media will always spread FUD about crypto to people, and more common people will also hate crypto.

Actually, this also happens in my country for years,
But since 2019, finally, crypto is legal and there is a law about crypto officiall. Maybe it needs more time to wait for, please be patient. Or maybe until the government is changed to another eladership?  Grin

If you do think that it would really poke out some attention then its up to your choice but be mindful that you are against with Bangladesh government and if you don't like to get involved yourself into something then better skip out.

I know on what you do felt about false information and it sucks that media and government do really be showing off false information about crytocurrencies which do really sucks.

Is there something we can do? No, there's not but it isn't really a bad idea to have those kind of petitions though and at least these small steps could at atleast show off the truth.

I think the best way to do these things is to address the issue first and why crypto is looked as bad thing, and you should try to find people from country that share the same vision as you and try to push that idea toward other people, so the way i did it is i had a club in my university that holds events a lectures about several stuff and i was able to convince some successful people who have been working on the blockchain and crypto to come and share their experiences and their visons with the students, because fighting the ideology that has been spread about the bitcoin can only be fought be the same way, and not by creating an online petition that no one cares about.

Cryptocurrencies are the talk of the town in Bangladesh, despite their country's policy still insisting on prohibiting interacting with anything crypto-related.

@little mouse , it very difficult to create a petition for Bangladesh because most of the political leaders in here disagree with cryptocurrencies excluding MP polok sir. He alone agree with Cryptos but it's very hard for him to legalize cryptocurrencies here. So don't take a step, you would fall in danger.

it's hard even if you make a petition, because basically the popularity in Bangladesh is huge and can't represent the petition you made. but at least people in Bangladesh should be able to coordinate with you. even then it is not enough, the media there is very extreme and will not really respond to things like this. they are in economic turmoil.
So if you really want to make a petition, go ahead, because I'm sure it will at least give you a sense of satisfaction, but the impact on Bangladesh is still not possible.
