Twitter isn't even a strict social medias, there are many porn videos, mixers, torture or any other dangerous videos not being deleted. Elon Musk should be arrested too, but he has a lot money, so he can bribe the authority.
I think now Twitter is the best platform to express people’s freedom of speech it's happened after Elon Musk taken over Twitter, it’s now known as X. They have no filters to delete porn videos or other bad things in their platform they said it’s a pro freedom, And now Telegram is another entity as like Twitter, it’s now using sometimes as like porn sites and other illegal activists that's true.

With the news Telegram's CEO is being arrested today, it affect Ton coin and other tokens price that played in Telegram. It's surprising that the CEO is being arrested during the cryptocurrency in Telegram hype, it means that cryptocurrency is already that big.

Will this make government to ban Telegram? I found that there are few former countries that censor Telegram and there are few countries still ban Telegram. If The US start to ban Telegram, this will be a disaster.
Telegram offering freedom to people is something not every part of the world could handle. Remember, we still have dictatorships all around the world and we are going to keep having them in the future as well. What a dictator hates the most is freedom of speech.

Because you can say bad things about them, in fact you can provide proof of why the yare bad, and that's not okay for a dictator at all, they want to be admired, kind of like north Korean fat dude, but not everyone can be like that, some has to be like Putin, seems democratic but in reality not. That is why I think it's clear that we are going to see telegram banned in a few more nations at least, in all the nations that either have dictatorship, or presidents who dislike freedom.

I do not see any point in arresting the founder of Telegram as it is prohibiting technology and privacy. If they are arresting and taking him to trial which can lead to 20 years in prison then they should arrest those guys who founded the internet. This is a stupid and bizarre way to say that you as a founder should comply with anti-privacy laws. One of the main reasons why Bitcoin was invested is to uphold privacy and after this arrest, I think they as in the deep state will be going after mixers. All they need is a chance to persecute anyone who does not follow their directives.

I do not think other countries will follow the same path as this arrest is related to control of the app by the US and EU. Tiktok is banned in many countries but it is not banned in the EU or the US. I gave this example only to counter my reply.
Can we compare the internet and Telegram? They are not the same, the internet is like an open book but not telegram, it's very close to a privacy haven for chats and yes a good fit to be called social media, peer to peer transactions can also happen on telegram.

I don't know how genuine this info is but I heard that the Facebook creator is involved in this man arrest, some are saying its a competitor to other social media, only time will tell but now I am still not sure of what's happening.

The truth is Telegram is a powerful tool where even terrorists can communicate without any comprises, this is sure a big threat for many countries, they won't let telegram rest until a part of it is centralised.

No doubt other countries will try to censor Telegram or try to force Dubrov into allowing them spyware access somehow. I feel like we are at a period where governments want to hammer down absolute control over us. They hate us & want to control everything about our lives. I believe that the World Economic Forum is behind a lot of us.

Will they? Maybe, but will it be cared? I do not think so. Remember that there are so many nations that ban so many things, in the end we still keep using it. You think torrent is legal? It has been illegal for over two decades now, and yet we still illegally download music, videos, movies, even ebooks for the past some years.

So, it is clear that just because you make something illegal, doesn't mean that it is not used, maybe less people will use it, that much is true, there are people who are so afraid of committing a crime, they would not even log into their telegram account, but how many people would do that? Not even half, maybe quarter of the telegram users, we will keep having telegram as the main chat for crypto for many years without a doubt, even with legality in question.

but i feel that this is just unfair. telegram is one of the messaging applications that prioritizes privacy and freedom. the arrest of the founder is just a framing by the government to limit people's freedom and privacy, and if continued, this will be dangerous for people's freedom and privacy on the internet.

Yes, it is true Seeing the situation like this with the arrest of the founder of Telegram, there will be many questions in the community that have because some people will think negatively, and I think that is difficult to accept, because it will hinder the progress that has been achieved so far.

After Elon Musk bought Twitter and turned it into X, it's true such videos and content started being widely displayed there without filters, including through paid ads. But before, Twitter was more or less like Facebook. Nowadays Twitter or X is a cesspool of the most disgusting contents of the internet. It's still a popular social media, though, because there is a vast public which enjoys this noxious vibe the platform transmits. I access my old account on X to check the daily news, but always feel somehow disturbed after accessing the social media.

If the ban happens in every country, there will be a big impact, especially on projects that use Telegram services. So far, almost all projects use Telegram to gather members or followers. There is no other social media group other than Telegram that is used as a medium for discussion and information delivery
I don’t think every country will ban telegram although already some countries did this but it’s absolutely conspiracy of a country and telegram CEO Pavel Durov mentioned which country name in a television interview, they tried to take under their control but they're not success. Telegram is the most renowned messaging app for freedom of speech in the world wide, so that a jealously entity try to shut down it.

I agree with you. The arrest of the founder will give some other countries a reason to censor Telegram. This is a problem because I often use Telegram for my business needs. We can do many things that WhatsApp can't do such as sending and deleting messages, managing groups and messages, and having a bot system that helps run the business on autopilot.

I see that it’s a direct arrest against freedom of speech. The CEO didn’t commit any crimes or illegal activities on Telegram, yet the police arrested him. I am sure that many countries’s governments are in support of this. It’s also being speculated that Asian nations are planning to ban telegram. The ton coin will definitely be affected, and the investors will panic. This will also create tension for other alts. Many big people are against this arrest. Let’s see what happens next.

in my own country, the use of telegram has been restricted here, and the use of their cryptocurrency for payments has been clearly prohibited by the government. so it could be that the arrest of the founder of telegram is a reason that strengthens the decision of other countries to take stricter action against the use of telegram in their countries.

The point is that governments will always fight anything that they don't have total control over and both telegram and cryptocurrency represents privacy and freedom. So the telegram's founders arrest might be to intimidate him and let him bow to the pressures of regulations. Is it really coincidental that this arrest is coming when telegram is merging with cryptocurrency that has increased it's popularity. It's true that some people see telegram as a hub for scammers but then there are a lot of legit people that uses telegram too so you can't victimize it because of the criminal activities that goes through it, afterall there are scams in other apps and institutions. Will you hold the man that created AK-47 responsible because criminals also uses it? I hope that the matter is resolved amicably and people around the world will keep enjoying the services of telegram.

You make valid points about the tension between governments and technologies promoting privacy and freedom. The arrest of Telegram's founder does seem suspicious, especially as the platform merges with cryptocurrency. While Telegram has its share of scams, many legitimate users rely on it for communication, and it’s unfair to judge the entire platform based on the actions of a few.

We hope this situation resolves positively, allowing Telegram to continue providing a valuable space for open dialogue and privacy worldwide.

This map is incorrect! I can see my country is highlighted as formally banned telegram but that's not true! Telegram is a fully legal app in my country.

Now coming back to the main question. If US starts banning telegram then a lot of its allies will follow the same path. That will then become disastrous for many telegram based cryptos as well.

Also it will push the altcoin market hard because a lot of altcoins use Telegram as their primary mode of connect and to run bots. But who cares about the shitcoins anyway!

But I think of one positive side - scammers will have to find an alternative to telegram so they may not be able to hide their identity as easily as they can do in Telegram.

Once a man, twice a child!
I had to do a quick dash to my TG handle too to check if there was a restriction or ban on it. It was crazy when the rumour broke. I'm safe at the moment on that.

Speculations are running into different routes on this. We may not have all the facts of his arrest. However, whatever it's that led to it won't be solely a Durov crime. If the allegations are on the use of Ton chain for creating memetokens that end up scamming people, then Solana and others should also be liable. If it's lack of moderation on telegram, other chat apps are also liable.

Anyway, whatever it's I believe it won't destroy the Ton ecosystem or collapse telegram. It's just going be a passing phase. That's my take.

The timing is bad just when people are anticipating Dogs a telegram based meme coin is on the process of getting listed on exchanges.
Telegram based tapping mining are very popular now, We have a lot of this now, but with this news, it will take a back seat and affect these tapping mining negatively.
This is bad for the most popular messaging application; their membership will dwindle if many countries will restrict the or censor Telegram.
Many countries do not support freedom of speech and privacy, and their weapon is to ban Telegram or anything that has these.

Telegram is unregulated platform lots of scams happened there and can't blame the government to block that app sites lots of anomalies happening there. Plus they create their own crypto which makes them more questionable.

If USA will block telegram for sure lots of countries will follow since some country is just following regarding on what they implement in their country. Also now that their CEO has been arrested then provably the list of countries that ban Telegram would rise up.

Not using this app anymore so I guess banning of this app cannot affect to crypto users since there are lot of ways where people can communicate online.

I heard he was arrested because there are no moderators on Telegram, but isnt it interesting that other interesting competitors like Whatsapp don't have such personnel.
I don't know, but looks like witch hunting
Probably Telegram is the biggest competitor against WhatsApp, since Telegram is a non profit company and the authority find a way to arrest the Telegram's CEO, they did this. WhatsApp is a profit company, so they might bribed the authority, anything can be done with money.

Meanwhile, another platforms such as Twitter and Facebook immediately followed the orders.

I think Telegram is going to encounter more difficulties from governments around the world because it's offering more than messaging, it's giving people a way to generate income and enabling transactions that the governments can't control. No government will like that so am expecting more bans and more restrictions from governments all over the world

As far as I know, Telegram is in favour of the freedom of its users, and as consequence they don't follow orders from governments and regulators which go against this basic principle. At least, that is what happened in my country when the supreme court started hunting some people for "threatening democracy". Meanwhile, another platforms such as Twitter and Facebook immediately followed the orders.

This philosophy of Telegram may lead them being censored in more countries in the future, as governments become stricter and more tyrant against their citizens, although they can use the excuse they are protecting the citizens from a dangerous platform like Telegram, where there are scammers and terrorists operating anonymously.

Anyway, nothing changes at all, since we can still access Telegram despite its prohibition.
