you have a handful of options
- new wallet for new incomming coin to your collection
- wallet for the whole collection but you shall not spend from it & new address for new payment is a must
- keep accepting them as usual, spend them when the time will come

if you're skilled enough (and a collector), you can remove the private key of the address with the valuable coin
and -rescan to update the balance of your account. this is actually the bitcoin, the key to it is everything.
this way you should be safe not to spend it by chance (the client would not have the signing authority over the bitcoins)

Ride or Die
This is why we need clients to have address differentiation.
As it is, the client gives no option for spending specific coins, so if 1BTC is from pizza history and 199 are from other history, it will be difficult to pick the correct one.
Of course merging all 200 to one address could work, but then it gets watered down. . .

Client should give option of which received address BTC to send. . .

seven degrees of bacon pizza?

more like ordinary passion for coins. I doubt that people check their coins history and see if they are connected to pizza or first transaction

so, I'm guessing block 170 http://blockexplorer.com/b/170 is the first transfer from one address to another?
true. mined coins must mature at least 100 blocks or so, to be spendable. it was not possible to send any coins in the first 100 blocks

I look at block 170 all the time while I'm writing code to parse the block chain. If I come up with anything I'll let you know.
hal actually is active on the forum, i just might ask him directly. but if you stumble upon the coins, i welcome any info

had a look at some of the previous blocks (but not all 170) and didn't see any transactions.

Yes, block 170 contains the first Bitcoin transaction (other than generation, of course).

i was lucky with zimbabwe dollar exchange so i have a few bitcoins i can put aside and never use

Well, I only have 3.5 to give, but if you wanted it, I suppose I'd be willing to trade for 4.5.

Just to be clear, whenever you're ready, I will send 1 BTC (or however much you want... the prices have been pretty crazy lately) from my account with the T-shirt coins (the ones at the end of that huge chain I posted earlier in the thread), to another one of my addresses (just so I can make sure that the chain looks good), and then I'll send from that address to yours. So, all you'll need to do is add two more transactions to make a grand total of 77 transactions from the legendary pizza to you. Grin

Ok, just tell me what address to send it to.

wow, you really got one? Smiley
i'll create a new address for this one transaction to make sure it can be dumped from wallet safely
and stored in my coin collection display
i'm using bitcoin only from home, please allow few more hours for reply

yay!

Oh ok, sweet, care to share?

Ok, copy all the files into the bitcointools folder:

This one is a small modification to a bunch of functions found in bitcointools that makes my life easier: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28441300/deserialize_unfinishe.py

Here is the first program that I used to find out whether any of my unredeemed coins were actually descended from the pizza transaction: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28441300/bitcoin_descendants.py

Next, seeing that I had some at one of my addresses, I made another program to find the exact path:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28441300/bitcoin_descendants_pizza.py

It's kind of sloppy (I wasn't planning on releasing it), so you'll have to change a few things to use it for a more general case (parent_block, parent_transaction, my address, the restriction for only transactions with 1 BTC or more).
