You are doing great in sports betting you Are wining a good sum and you are on the way mastering a good method in sports betting finally you have come to a point that all the years of perseverance is paying off then you're rich father  decides that he will disinherit you if you do not stop gambling because he thinks that money that you are going to inherit will just vanish because of your addiction to gamble you will have to stop gambling for a minimum of five years.
You are going to inherit amount that you cannot win in sports betting possibly multi million

when you have good control over your gambling. which means you are not too excessive in gambling or you are also not greedy in playing which can spend your money. I don't think your parents would give such a warning.
what happened was obviously the situation was bad which made your parents very hard on you who really likes gambling games. I know parents think of a good future, in this case, it will be difficult to decide. but I myself will try to follow the advice of my parents, even though I can't stop completely, at least we reduce our gambling activities.

Will you explain to him that you are doing great and you are not a compulsive gambler
Will just stop gambling  and be practical and get that multi million inheritance
You'll just go on with your passion and just forget the money that your father will give to you as inheritance.

There will be no accurate (or even close) answer here even how far we discuss it because we don't feel the actual pressure on the situation. We don't know being struck with that situation and we can't understand how far the gambling addiction of that person involved is.

Others can easily say, to stop, to continue, or so on because it's easy to make a guess without any pressure.

For me just a matter of respect to our parents but as we know, we will surely have a different approach once we are in that situation for real.

It is good to go with my father's advice. Initially I'll try to convince him and continue my gambling activity. When I find this isn't gonna work I'll go upon his wish. I don't think such situation won't exist in reality. Most of the threads relative to gambling were just assumptions. These days beyond 18 no parents involve into their children's life. Just the advice is given to lead life and the rest is their choice. Maybe if the children were using their parents money then they're supposed to give statement on it.

Now if you can be patient following your father is a good decision, Once you get your inheritance then do the gambling again lmao.
Five years is such a long time and things will be way different by then you will missed a lot but you can start all over again and you have huge money for bankroll I think 5 years is worth it some people bet on lottery for a lifetime and they are not hitting it and you only have to wait for 5 years, but its always worth to try convince your father maybe invite him to watch a sports and show him how good you are in sports betting  just be sure that the sports you're betting is where you are good at predicting, you don't want to spoil your chances.
Right? Even a stop for a year is too long already especially if you gamble regularly, that's a great challenge actually. Although stopping of gambling is good for your health, wallet and family (coz of your father) but i don't think it will be an easy decision since gambling is very tempting to regular users.

It is a no-brainer, I will heed my father's advice and stop gambling.  You have stated that the amount to inherit is not the amount that can't be won in gambling.  It would be a waste if I keep on pushing my wants just to suffer the consequences of losing such huge amount of money.  Until I inherit the sum of money, I will stop gambling.  After all, he is my father and it is a right thing to follow his demand in order for me to inherit the wealth.  Besides, the father is not asking me to get myself destroyed instead he is keeping me away from possible gambling addiction.  So it is a win-win to listen to his demand.

I will stop gambling if it is time to stop, to reduce the risk of gambling addiction. Sometimes we want to continue playing gambling, especially when we have just won a lot and we feel very lucky at gambling. This is the danger. As for me, I will stop for a while after winning a lot, and I need to organize myself again, raise the money, withdraw it into fiat, and do it all over again with small capital again. Don't let the money I earn from gambling run out again for the next gamble because I feel greedy that I can keep on winning.
It's not uncommon for us to feel a sense of excitement and accomplishment after a big win, which can lead to the desire to continue gambling in hopes of sustaining that luck. However, as you rightly pointed out, this can be dangerous and may increase the risk of losing more money than you initially won. There should be a clear plan for how you handle your gambling capital, such as organizing yourself, setting aside winnings, and starting with a smaller capital again, which is a responsible strategy. It helps to maintain discipline and prevents impulsive decisions driven by greed. After all this everything depended on your side and how you will handle this.

Family comes before everything else, especially before gambling, so for that "simple" reason I would stop gambling.

Second, as you yourself commented, if the inheritance is significant, it is better to keep it than to continue taking chances in games of chance, because one day your luck may run out.

Third, successful people don't gamble at games of chance to make money, they gamble for fun, "losing" money.
Smart, successful people invest their money in something that is safe and actually profitable. So the father's idea that the son needs to kick the habit, even though he's in a good phase, is valid.

Hmmm, I'd probably stop? I mean even if I'm doing good, gambling is still for me, just a form of entertainment. It isn't something that would feed me or my future family in the long run, and may actually kill them in the process instead. All the explanations in the world could be let out but I doubt a father would be persuaded, they're rock-hard on stuff like that. Unless, ofc, something life-changing happens, but I doubt that'd happen.

In addition, who's to say that you can't gamble later on down the line? Your life would probably last a long time with a multi-million inheritance. Gambling can be experienced again later on when you're really, really financially stable.

I would have no problem giving up gambling in exchange for a few million (to be honest, even in exchange for a few hundred thousand). I know a lot of entertainment and could easily adjust my leisure time if I were offered such conditions. It would be much more difficult to give up barbecue or pastries  Grin

I'd go for the inheritance, I mean, you can say and explain that I am not a compulsive gambler now, but you could still turn into one if you continue to gamble. also, despite "mastering a good method in sports betting" there are still risks involved, things could still go sideways and leave you in a bad situation.
Would probably go to this as well, winning is not always in gambling and if you think you’re lucky today, better not to think to be lucky gain tomorrow because its very rare in gambling.

Beside its not all about the inheritance, your father probably is saving you from a possible addiction because he knew the risk of gambling and that’s why he come to his last resort and hopefully you’ll follow it.
That’s exactly my thought and it clearly says that the father is afraid to inherit the money because of the possible addiction in gambling, he is just making sure his money will be worth it when he left it to his son. Well, I’d rather choose the inheritance over gambling since addiction can really ruin your life and its not worth it. Winning is not like this in gambling, the reality is that you’ll always lose the money.

I mean if it came to that point then you gotta start asking yourself, if you're really not addicted to gambling. Just cause you're winning great doesn't mean you're not addicted although you did say you're on a system. Regardless, if it came to the point where your Dad is asking you to stop gambling in exchange for a spot in the will and testament I think it's much better to be in your Father's good graces, cause if you're really on a system regardless of the season you'd be able to consistently get wins provided that it's not an exploit or a bug on the sportsbook/casino you're playing in. I'm not saying this cause I'm a greedy bastard who wants to ensure I get a place in the inheritance, but I'm saying this cause you're dad has a genuine cause for concern, and him being old is more than enough a reason to put it down for a while to make him a little more happy you know.

Yes- I would definitely quit gambling and get once I inherit the money, I would gamble again!

Jokes aside, this is a case of choosing two (2) options where one is a guaranteed sum of money; while the other is continuing an act which is considered risky. The answer is obvious- I would definitively quit gambling and focus on other ventures from the money I inherited.

Even if I do mastered my craft in sports-betting, the act itself is still risky. The only thing absolute in gambling is not winning- but the inconsistencies that are associated with it.

There's a saying Mother knows best, so true also for fathers, they just want the best for us and they don't want what they worked for in their business to go to waste because let's admit it this is gambling and there's always the temptation to lose everything, when it comes to gambling its hard to be in control all the time, there will be a point that you want to bet more or all because you don't want opportunity to lose, there is also FOMO in gambling.
You will also understand what your father feel when you become a father yourself, your father wants the best for your future and you feel the same for your son and gambling is not something that will lead you a good future, so gamble moderately so your father will not think that you are addicted to gambling

We all know where most addicted gamblers end up with. So yes, the father has his valid reasons about the condition before he will give the inheritance.
You may be winning today, but if you continue your gambling activities, sooner or later, you will realize that you are on the losing side already.
You can't guarantee that you will always be on your winning side, remember, this is gambling. So I am that person, I would take the inheritance
and promise not to go in gambling anymore. You are given an assurance of wealth that you can further increase it via other means like setting-up a business.

I will choose the first one and prove to him that I am not an addict. Someone doesn't need to lie just to get his inheritance, it just need a healthy conversation, not all people who gambles will fall into addiction. He will heard that kind of thing only if his father sees something in him but if he don't see any thing that made his father suspicious then talk to your father if he insist then don't rely on him make your own name.

You are going to inherit amount that you cannot win in sports betting possibly multi million

First and foremost, we should discuss the benefits of parent-child communication on success. then now we should discuss the financial reward our father will give us if we stop gambling as he desires on the one hand, and on the other,  As a result, I won't really denied it when my father advises me to stop gambling, even if he won't give me any money seriously; instead, I will stop gambling, which will even stop me from developing a gambling addiction.

So now that I've discuss the money my father has decided to give me when I stop gambling as he requested, I should clarify that this is just a small thing to do when I'm not addicted to gambling absolutely stop gambling and take this money to carry on with my normal life. Given that even if I gamble for more than six months, I may not win the amount of money my father has decided to give me, I would rather accept this money and perhaps start another business with it.

I will educate my father about gambling to make him change his views on gambling. Maybe he sees every gambler as an addict.

I don't think Educating him will be the best course of action, in my opinion; instead, accept what he said, take the money, and concentrate on other worthwhile endeavors. Besides, he doesn't view every gambler as an addict; rather, the truth is that every gambler is at risk of developing a gambling addiction.

I will educate my father about gambling to make him change his views on gambling. Maybe he sees every gambler as an addict. But if he insists I will accept his proposal and quit betting for five years. Wins in gambling cannot be predicted, therefore income from it is not certain. Now my father has promised to transfer millions to me if I stop gambling for just five years. Which means I am sure that I will be a millionaire after five years. I will gladly shun gambling for five years and inherit my millions. Although it will be tough to stop gambling because it is an important source of fun to me. But there are other forms of entertainment which I might also find interesting. I will painstakingly switch to other forms of entertainment. After five years I might come back to gambling or continue with my newfound games.
