5-12-11 - Major Update
- Fixed Bug that would flood bitcoincharts.com
- Fixed Timer Bug
- Added BTCMine Support
- Added BTC Guild Support
- Added Support for more then one gadget settings file.

To use more then one gadget just simply install the gadget under a different name.

You can do this by changing MinerStats.gadget to whatever you want and then install it or go to %LocalAPPData% and copy MinerStats.gadget and paste/rename.
The MinerStats_Settings.ini is now stored in the MinerStats.gadget path allowing you to run more then one copy with different settings.

I am hoping this fix should take care of the issues people were having.

Also the support for the other pools is a bit limited currently they do not list any of the workers. I have some more things to add in and I will update this again.
This update is a MUST, it will fix the flooding issue on bitcoincharts.com, so please update ASAP.

Also, sorry for the long delay with the update. I had a PSU die and my A/C was dead in the house was having a hard time keeping my miners going this week.

Fantastic gadget, great work. Little feedback to go along with my inbound donation:

Bug Reports:
As stated, when the API's for either your $/BTC or Pool are unavailable javascript errors occur, and memory leaks happen, eventually crash.
Limit refresh rate to something > 1 minute to prevent hammering pool/price API's from a ton of users, maybe 5+
Dialog size causes the connection error message to appear very strangely at the bottom, extending beyond the dialog bounds.

Feature Requests:
Add confirmation on clicking the BTC value before doing an API call, I don't know how many times i've misclicked that, and or add setting to enable/disable that functionality.
7 day historical graphs for the various values you're tracking.
Add "Total value" field below current price (BTC*PRICE)
Logging/historical of withdrawal
Ability to set background color (even at 20% transparent its clashing with my wallpaper, would be great to match that color so it "blends" and appears as part of the background)

Yeah the gadget is broken. Recently it's not able to connect to the market site which then it creates a memory leak eventually crashing sidebar.exe.

Great tool when it worked. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I added BTCMine support to 'my' version of MinerStats.
Its custom..so it only shows what I'm interested in (Total BTC, estimated, confirmed and unconfirmed bounty, hashrate and current exchange rate) and works the same way; you need to plug in your API key from BTCMine.

If anyone wants to use it while the OP creates a new release, theyre welcome to it.

Awesome -- thanks for sharing!  Smiley -- And thanks to the OP for creating the foundation!

It would be really nice if you could support BTC Guild with your gadget. Nice work btw.

Settings window doesn't close, after opening it again, it's still at 1 for me.

I think this is due to the memory leak, I would recommend you open taskmanager and kill sidebar.exe then right click on the desktop and go to gadgets. This will reload it and should fix the problem for now.
Once I upload a new version tonight the issue of memory leak and connecting to bitcoinmarkets.com all the time should be fixed. I have also started adding debug logging into the widget to help if there are any other problems in the future.

Wasn't able to change the values (hence why I said, impossible)

Attempting to click "OK" just does nothing.

Clicking "OK" does nothing, does not explain this problem to me. Is the settings window not closing?

And I did find a bug that was causing it to update the currency value way to often. I have fixed that now.

Hi netxshare,
I'd love to get my pool supported by your gadget.  Please send me a PM with what information/format you'd expect, or you could register on my pool to take a look at the current JSON-API output Smiley.  Thank you.

Anyone else notice the USD exchange rate thing broke today and caused the program to use your entire system memory? It was rendering just a colon and the up arrow.

Windows Desktop Gadgets
Windows will only close enough programs to restore needed memory.

I had something similar happen about 5-7 days ago.

My memory usage was really high, so I checked in task manager and sidebar.exe was using 1.6 GB

Also, sidebar.exe seems to use more memory the longer it has been running.

It's a problem with the fact that widget is updating every second (cannot be changed afaik), and causing a memory leak.  OP needs to fix this ASAP.

The miner updates by default at every minute, you can go to the settings panel and put whatever you want in, I recommend something greater then 1 minute. I myself am using 10.

I did find a bug that was causing it to create more then one timer I think, making it load the page more then once per update. I have fixed that on my version and I am currently testing it. I will try and have a fix up later today.

Sorry for the problems.

I've had the Mt. Gox widget on my android phone for a while now and have been wanting something similar for my desktop. This works great. Thanks!

I think the reason I was banned may be that every time you hit OK in the options, it forces a refresh, regardless of your delay. I was tweaking a bunch of settings earlier while in the midst of changing pools and also adjusting the text size, causing it to refresh repeatedly.

It looks like this gadget has a bug which causes it to do multiple requests per second to http://bitcoincharts.com/t/markets.json in some cases.

Bitcoincharts has firewall rules which blacklists IPs that cause too many request/s. If you can't access bitcoincharts, email me at [email protected] and mention your IP so I can unblock it.

I think this leak problem is just a side effect of not being able to reach bitcoincharts.com for me. downforeveryoneorjustme says its up so maybe I got blacklisted for not changing the (default) 1 minute refresh in this gadget?  Huh
