regular wallets for example such as Etherscan and Windows wallets, which do you think is the most secure for each campaign you participate in?
let's share a little because every Windows wallet I have ever participated in always fails to be exchanged or sold when the token is on the market exchange..

Etherscan is like a blockchain explorer for Eth why are you mixing things up? Do you even know what real wallets are ? Myetherwallet is an example of a real Ethereum wallet, windows wallet aren't good for bounty participation because it takes time to synce blockchain data on windows wallet, also 99% of new bounty projects requires for Ethereum wallet address so you don't need a windows wallet to get paid

There is a wallet and then there is a blockchain explorer or block explorer. A wallet includes Trust wallet, Enjin etc and an explorer is etherscan. Every blockchain have its own explorer which is used to track tokens as well as transactions, hence the reason we have different blockchains like Tron, Ethereum and their explorers, tronscan and etherscan respectively. Therefore talking or asking about etherscan means you are asking about Ethereum and supported wallets; actually be it could be windows wallet or regular wallet like Trust wallet, they offers same things and are good as well, hence in as much as you secure your private keys, you are safe and can import one into the other. Nevertheless, the only major difference is regular wallets are easily accessible, as they can open or work on smart phones while windows wallet can't.
On the other hand, asking about the wallet which is better to be used for each campaign depends on the campaign and the project in question, if the project is based on the Ethereum blockchain, then you will need an ERC wallet of your choice, and if the project is based on another blockchain, you will be informed as well which wallet to use.
Lastly, in the case of windows wallet being used for a campaign and you failed to exchange it when listed is a different thing. If you used a Windows wallet for a particular campaign, then it could be a new project building their blockchain also if you fail afterwards to sell could still mean that the project might not have succeeded.

Point of correction, Etherscan is not a wallet get your fact right.

If you are talking about web wallet and Desktop wallet, Desktop wallet for sure, but I use to tell people to always opt for Hard wallet, if you want to hold thousand of Dollar in your account, you need to look for right medium to keep your money and the best we have now is Hard wallet

Any wallets will do, as long as you have the full control of it and you hold the pass phrases or private keys are good to go but I prefer simple wallet apps that as multiple functions that can also interact with  other blockchain ecosystem like trust wallet app for example.

Many wallets for Ethereum and ERC20 tokens so of course I don't know all of them. You can check the big list for ETH/ ERC20 wallets and get one or few to use.
[BIG LIST] Ethereum Wallets (121 wallet)

First of all, Etherscan is not a wallet unless I'm missing something because they are Ethereum Blockchain Explorer. Maybe you are referring to Web wallet(MyEtherwallet for example) compared Desktop Wallet like Electrum right?
I agree that OP misunderstood wallet and explorer. Etherscan.io is a block explorer for ETH/ERC20 tokens, it is not a wallet. From the big list of 121 wallets, I can not find it.

I mean the Windows wallet offered by every small sample campaign like the bitdepositary bounty..
You must be careful if you want to download and install wallet from new projects. Their teams can hide malwares, trojans in wallets and if you are unaware of such threats, install wallets, your computer will be infected and they might steal your crypto.

I try to avoid unnecessary installations of strange wallets.

The possibility for the wallet to be infected by the malware to steal your password will always there.

QT wallets are open source if I'm not mistaken. They will be tagged as untrustworthy by someone with high knowledge and newbies will able to read it no matter what. If wallets are on the website, there's no need to download and install them so I don't see how malware will able to infect our system unless there's a phishing form there.

OP is just disappointed that some of those projects that have their own wallets didn't perform good when they got listed to the exchange.

I believe in the wallet that developed by the trusted party rather than the wallet created by the team. if you were participating in the new bounty and you didn't know how good the reputation of the team that created their own wallet. The possibility for the wallet to be infected by the malware to steal your password will always there.
This makes the wallet is a very important thing. You should choose the wallet that will give you a very small risk when you wanna deal with it.
So many times people's pc got hijacked caused by that.

Basically, the point is, you have a bad experience on those projects using their standalone wallets?

Actually, either of the wallets, standalone or what you called as "regular wallet", it depends on the market situation if their price will perform well. It's common for coins and tokens to crash the moment they get listed so you have to be prepared for it.

I have lots of coins here on my desktop wallet with their respective standalone wallets. I got good profits overall (thru airdrop) before but they are dead in development right now.

If the exchange listing goes bad and the team refuses to list the token, the first market order is enough to get rid of that shitcoin. Bounty participants are always late to sell the token because the regular market prices are for pre-investors. The windows wallet will do the job if there is no reason to hold the bounty reward token on another wallet.

Maybe the failure is because you lack ETH for the gas fee.

But if that's just a coincidence then it has nothing to do with the wallet you use. As long as you're using a valid wallet and you're keeping the private keys or any form of the same.

Then, you're using the correct one, windows or regular or whatever you describe it.
Right, if the user has access to the private key and no one else has a copy of the private key, no need to worry about anything. The legit wallets are almost the same and have shared the same wallet features for both mobile and PC users. The key point is to have access to the recovery seed or private key if the wallet is hacked or stolen.

Check their security features. Any wallets will do as long as it was secured or a non-custodial.

The wallet has nothing to do with the coin's value once it reached the exchange. There's no relation to why you weren't able to get profit out of it.

Etherscan is not a wallet, its Ethereum Explorer. Do you mean to compare web wallet with application wallet? like Trust Wallet or MyEtherWallet(MEW)?
For every campaign i joined, mostly i use trust wallet because its multi wallet which can receive many coins and token. But if you want to use that, make sure you backup the phrase so you can recover it if you have any problem in the future.

The OP is probably comparing the desktop/web wallets that has their own native token and the mobile wallet tokens like Trust Wallet's TWT and Safepal's SFP. Enjin wallet has a token too but it's both a web and mobile wallet. I remember there are also a lot of POS coins before that requires you to download their desktop wallet to receive your reward.

@oemar bakrie, it's not about the type of token but it's about the guys behind the project.

Desktop wallet is safer than Web wallet because your data  is securely on your PC unlike Web wallet that you are prone on phishing. But it's more convenient to use Web wallet because you can access your wallet wherever you are. There is a pros and cons on each wallet type, It depends on your preference to choose the most suited to you.

.

You mean Wallet Application? I'm not familiar on bitdepositary wallet, I try to google it and I found out that the website is not working anymore so I really don't get your point about windows wallet. AFAIK, Windows wallet are wallets that you can access via Windows OS  Grin.

Anyway, the wallet that you holds the key (private key, recovery seed and other key) to access the wallet is the safest wallet to use.
bitdepositary is now no longer active even in CMC and Coingecko there is no data there so what does the OP enter about a bitdepositary Windows wallet?

Even for small campaigns, the OP can use MEW, Coinomi and several other application wallets.

I'm a little confused about a windows wallet for a small campaign. Grin

Hmm, looks like the same experience I had when mining new altcoins, the truth is most new altcoins don't have mobile wallet at launch, they only make windows wallet available and you need to sync the wallet from time to time, id rather use Coinomi wallet or Trust wallet to hold any coins because there is no data syncing in these type of wallets
