Has anyone tried the password change trick lately?  I am in the same situation and have a time sensitive requirement for my bitcoins!

Edit: Well decided to try it anyway, but no joy unfortunately, counter still sitting at 600+ hrs :_(  I guess that bug was fixed...

this money hold fuck and obviously their support, too, is a fucking joke.
but maybe i have just found a workaround: i have tried to withdraw my coins and got the message with a money hold of something like 465h, so something around 20 days. but now i have simply changed my password (which always results in a money hold of 48h) and indeed when i try to withdraw now the money hold message shows only 48h. so i do have the hope that the old money hold has been overwritten by the new one. i will tell you on sunday if this method really works out or if the old money hold is still saved in a queue.

guys, i am happy to tell you my idea has worked out! i have been able to withdraw my coins successfully after waiting for only 48h. this seems to be bug, but a bug that is very useful for us. So

in order to widthdraw your coins as fast as possible and to avoid the shit with the providing of the id pass and the utility bill as well as the the ticket stuff and the whole trouble with their poor customer suppport, simply

- change your password
- wait 48h
- withdraw your coins
- be happy you got out of there

ps: please don't post the piece of advice in the trollbox of btc-e, but only here in the forum. we dont want them to fix that bug, do we?
pps: feel free to donate a little bit if i helped you more than the customer support of btc-e  Grin

Same problem here. Bought a shitload of bitcoins but when I went to withdraw to my wallet, BTC-e informed me that
there was a "money hold" and I would have to wait 650 hours to withdraw! Thanks to this thread, I see  what I must
do, namely send a copy of my ID and utility bill. I've just done that and hopefully they will release my hostage coins!

I sent a wire transfer for US$20,000 on Nov. 19.  Was credited to my btc-e account on Nov. 24. After that, had no problems buying coins and then getting my coins out.

They canceled my first ticket after 10 days.  I sent a new one and it took them 1 day to respond and another day to let me move my coins.  So overall it took me 13 days to get the money hold off.   Now when you open a new ticket at btc-e there is a option for money hold problems.

I suppose the fact that there is now a "money hold problems" option within the help tickets is suggestive that this may be a diffuse problem? Strangely reassuring.

No, that was my first time.

Ah I see, same for me. Can't seem to get a clearer picture if the Hold on the funds resets if you send in more money to them.
Or if you have to go through the same crap getting the account re-authenticated every time you send funds in.

Seems counterintuitive.

Its a pity that the other exchanges don't deal in the same order of magnitude for LTC volume.

Good question, actually wondering that as well. I don't want to risk doing it again just because i'm hearing that people are still going through this problem.

After my hold was released I bought BTC and withdrew.  Now I have tempted fate and and wiring more money.  If there is another hold, at least I can be reasonably assured the hold will be lifted at some point.  The first hold was somewhat terrifying, I thought they may never lift it.  Bad customer service and strange policies?  Yes.  Thieves?  Not in my experience.

I agree with you about btc-e's customer support, but until they address and fix this:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/warning-btc-e-not-releasing-my-usd-deposit-334039

I will not deposit USD to their account.

I don't think that it can be overstated that there is a third party in all of this, specifically the bank that they are dealing with. SEPA transfers (EU to EU countries) have a different regulatory process compared to international US to EU wires and thus a different amount of paperwork involved. It doesn't help that the exchange is open 24/7 whilst the banks are only open for a total of 39 hours a week in most European countries. Regardless, I too am interested in seeing how the US bank transfer works out.

How long was your account kept on hold for?

Ten days.

Hmm. 7th day for me (since USD credited; 15th days since first upload of ID docs). 7th trouble ticket. 4th time I've uploaded my documents. First time they asked me (in a response to a trouble ticket request) to provide my full name AGAIN in addition to the documents - although I used it to register on the ticketing system.. and it is of course on the ID documents.. and it was of course supplied as part of my initial document upload 2 weeks ago..

I've asked for an explanation about 15 times, but never any response other than the canned "Hello, it's actually difficult to understand what's the problem, could you describe it in detail + screenshots" or the one about the bank needing the ID docs.

I decided to go with BTC-e this time because the process with Mt.Gox seemed slow last time. But that was at least done in a day or so. This really makes me want to scream.

Guess it will have to be bitstamp next time. Can't wait for coinfloor to actually get going.

Ha! They did the "Hello, it's actually difficult to understand what's the problem, could you describe it in detail + screenshots" to me today too. It's almost like some kind of sick game they're playing where they come up with a new canned response every week and throw in one of the old ones to remind you that you are royally f**ked. Asked again today and again they also threw in the "Our bank ask you provide a copy of you ID and utility bill not more than 3 months old in high res quality (>300DPI scan) due to high fraud activity". They updated the withdrawal hold message now also (now its in hours vs minutes and they've tiered their levels of "F**k you"):

Money hold. 383 hours left

Why do I see such error? Hold is used in the following cases:

* Changing\resetting the password, changing of the e-mail. For the purpose of security. Hold up to 3 days. It cannot be removed.
* Depositing money from the payment systems with a high fraud activity. Hold from 1 to 7 days. It cannot be removed.
* Depositing money through the wire transfer. The time of the hold is from 1 month. It can be removed by providing your IDs through the ticket.

Don't know about first two but I can confirm the last one is a steaming pile as can anyone who's done a wire recently and had to play their sick game of "how frustrated can I make you". -->They won't remove the hold regardless of how many times you submit ID and utilities<--
This is how BTC-e customer service gets their jollies.

I've just had my account validated, and the money hold was lifted off.

There was no notice, just a message from the support "We unhold soon". After a couple of days I made a withdrawal attempt and it worked.

After all I've seen, BTC-e seems like a legitimate exchange, albeit slower than a cramped snail.

It seems these days it is in vogue among "financial institutions" to solicit deposits of money and then hold it hostage subject to some onerous demands.

Just to chime in here, I too am having this issue with BTC-e. Wired the money and they deposited it into my account. Was able to trade to LTC. Now unable to withdraw LTC. Already verified account with passport and bank statement. Should we just wait out the 30 day mark?

Has anyone successfully waited out the 30 day hold? I'm guessing not since this seems to be a recent thing. I think when BTC-e support replies "Fixed" they mean "fixed in 30 days, and oh hey thanks for the cash!"

got same problems. They decided to hold my coins for 26 days. It was only a small transfer off 500euro.Sent a ticket and waiting for reply. Also,  i have not got a utility bill. I dont have any bills except my rent and thats cash in hand. This has caused me problems at other exchanges.

I asked them for an alternative for a utility bill but they did not reply so I used house insurance (not sure if it works but will let everyone know once they reply).

For some other exchanges, you could use a bank statement, phone bill, tax papers, insurance...

i got none of those either. got pre paid phone, live in another country and work where the tax man cant find me so no insurance either. The bank dont know where i live and i like to keep it that way.

I am in the same boat.  The frustrating part is that my $1,000 'test' wire went through no problem, and I was able to withdraw the BTC without delay.  Now I have sent in much more and am being subjected to the hold.  I had already sent scans of my passport and utility bill weeks ago.  They seem quasi-reputable, so hopefully this is just bad customer service.  And you wouldn't think solvency is an issue with bitcoin being over $400, OTHO, maybe this is a good time to cut and run.

Does anyone know the address for BTC-e's offices?  I assume they have some sort of physical location.

I had the same problem happen to me except I attached the required ID's before my wire transfer deposited into my account (to avoid this specific problem) and they replied with "ok". When my funds were finally credited to my account, I traded for btc then went to withdraw the btc and had the same message appear (money hold) for the similar amount of time. I then made another ticket asking what the problem was since I had already verified my ID's, and I attached the ID proof again. It has now been 4 business days and I haven't received a response yet.

Please update us when you resolve this issue.. i'm intrested to know what happend.

Thanks

They responded to me yesterday saying that there is always a standard hold of "24 hours". I responded back with the money hold is much longer than 24 hours, its in the 25 + day range. They then responded fairly quickly after that and asked to provide an ID and utility bill. I mentioned once again that I provided a DL and another form of proof of residency (insurance) already. I also asked what are alternatives to use for a utility bill. They replied with the same answer stating that that there bank requires them to provide copies of ID and a utility bill. I then uploaded my DL and insurance once again. I will update with their reply.

My experience has been exaclty the same. Support regurgitates the same ID and Utility requirement (although I've already submitted) and they even did the "24 Hour Hold" answer and of course it's going on 1 week now since my wire. I would recommend no one send BTC-e wires, not sure what's going on over there but my spidey sense is tingling pretty hard. If I ever get access to them I plan on taking all my coins out and heading for the hills.

HI,

So yep this is a major problem , its a pain in itself but at least they could let us know what the limits actually are (what triggers this hold):-

Quote
Hi,

Please can you explain or point me to where it does explain why im now getting a 24 hour hold on some of my btc withdrawals ?

Nobody i work with on one on the UK exchanges knows exactly what is triggering this 24 hour hold and were all getting it at what seems like random times.

Its almost impossible to work without knowing how this 24 hour freeze is decided.

Please advise,

Many thx.

Good day, according to the rules of payment verification within 24 hours

Sorry i don't understand your answer , i did not ask anything about verification.

Please let me know what exactly triggers the 24 hour hold on withdrawals.

Thank you,

Check require OKpay

Can i please speak with a human , this surly is a bot responding.

the sentence "Check require OKpay" is not even a sentence, makes no sense and i asked noting about OKpay at all.

Please tell me what triggers the 24 hour hold on withdrawals ??
Thank you,

Good day, this constraint is related to the protection from fraud

hi.

"protection from fraud" ok i understand that, but what triggers it Huh?  i cant just deposit $ and "hope" i can withdraw btc.

is it triggered at a certain amount deposited ?
is it triggered at a certain amount withdrawn ?
is this per hour , day , week ?
is it a combination of these ?
is it random ?

I just can not continue using the exchange if i have no clue if I'll be able to withdraw the BTC or not as a wait of 24 hours could loss me a lot of money but if i knew what the limits were then i might be able to work within them.

Please explain,

Thank you.

Hello

is it random

I shall Try to open a ticket and send verification next time but at no point has CS or anything on the page where it shows the hold said anything about verifying to clear the block, the closest was "according to the rules of payment verification within 24 hours" from CS, this did not make sense to me at the time. I read the rules of payment and did not see anything plus when BTCe wanted my bank verified they contacted me and asked for it.

Quote
"Our bank may ask your documents due to a high fraud activity. If you seen in your btc-e account a money hold please provide a copy of you ID and utility bill

I pay by OKpay and see nothing like this ?

this has all been very confusing and its only just started doing if for me too so i thought it was a new thing.

If you would have just read the notes right next to the payment data (IBAN, etc.), you would have found:

"Our bank may ask your documents due to a high fraud activity. If you seen in your btc-e account a money hold please provide a copy of you ID and utility bill in high res quality (>300DPI), create ticket with your ID in subject at https://hdbtce.kayako.com and upload your docs inside"

Never had any issues with BTC-e. They put this money hold on my account after a large deposit, then after providing verification, they almost immediately removed the money hold.

I recently made another deposit and was not asked for verification documents a second time.

I've been trading on btc-e for 6 months without problem.

Had the same situation. I've sent them the requested documents and I was cleared in about 3 hours.
(yes, I agree that they have no reason for requesting it - but I had much to loose if I wouldn't)

Took BTC and ran for the hills ... I'm never going back there - their customer support is bad, real bad (worse than their english) - if they would at lest notify you that your withdrawals are frozen, but noooo - you have to find it the hard way ...

Same thing they asked me. Likely because you sent a USD wire and their bank has stopped wanting to deal with US/USD wires at all (their deposit page says no US bank transfers).

So be happy they don't just reverse it Smiley

Support gets back to me with:

"Hello

Our bank ask you provide a copy of you ID and utility bill in high res quality (>300DPI) due to high fraud activity."

I have responded with:
"Hi,

you wrote: "Our bank ask you provide a copy of you ID and utility bill in high res quality (>300DPI) due to high fraud activity." in response to my ticket.

1. I am withdrawing bitcoin, nothing to do with your bank.
2. Why do I have to do this? I did not know BTCe had a verified service?
3. Why cant I withdraw my bitcoin, I want to withdraw Bitcoin and not USD with your bank.
4. All I have done is deposit to your bank, why do they suspect fraud transactions?

Please answer above first.

Thanks"

I am verified with Gox and Bitstamp but this seems fishy, if they want me to be a verified account then that should affect my ability to deposit not withdraw BTC...My deposit was obviously accepted and i bought BTC with it however when withdrawing it this happens. Happy to receive my money but not give it back...

Hi,

When I try to withdraw BTC on BTCe I get this error, has anyone had this before? I have no idea what this is as I usually have no problem with BTCe....

Did you just make a deposit?

E-mail their support, i'm sure they will get it fixed up for ya.

I had the same problem last week (try searching for my thread, i don't know where it went).

Reserved.

I believe though, that you should read their part of rules in Russian as well. It is not an error.

Why are you reserving the second post on a bunch of threads? I'm lost, is this going to be some advertising ploy?

Not using Tor or a VPN. Can't even input an address to withdraw the BTC to. Lets see how this support ticket goes......
