What could make a woman take to gambling ? Can it be for fun or for the need to make profit for the family?
It could be both, for fun and making their own profits (not for the family I guess). These days, gender restrictions are doesn't matter anymore, there are numerous women outside that already involved in several fields which identically belong to men such as sports (e.g MMA) or even business. Women also have the freedom to choose what would they do in their life.

There is no such restrictions that gambling is only for men but not much of women love to spend their money on bets because they have other places to spend like shopping, cosmetics and foods. Cheesy

Risk aversion is the term, I mean men prefer to take big risk as compare to women, maybe that's how we are build on made, our genetic make up is different from the women.

But it doesn't mean that there are a few percentage of women not willing to gamble. There's a lot of them, maybe it's the reward ratio, or the rush that gave to them similar to men.
Men are adventurous in all angle, they are able to risk more than on what women could do and thats why we do see that there are lots of men are engaged into certain things but there are women who do able

to catch up and able to do even though there are really differences on some point when it comes to physical abilities or even just on being risk taker then doesnt mean that they cant do similar thing.

Gender inequality is something always a problem in the society now where majority is belittling women that they cant do on what man can do.

Gambling is looked at as the business of men just like football but these none of these are exclusive to the men folks anymore even though it still carry the face of men becyof how society relate with it. Things have started changing with the known saying that "what a man can do , women can also get it done". I'm also yet to see the men area of live that women have not dived into.

On gambling, I see the increasing speed of women also in this area especially with the opportunity of growing online casinos and poker games that they can play from home alone or with their husbands. But for physical gambling that they need to visit a gambling store, maybe they still a little withdrawn not as online either because they are shy or just not convenient for them .

It is true that in the past the televised poker we've seen has been heavily weighted towards men at the table. Not that it is right at all, but I think women in the past have found themselves with a lot of unnecessary attention in all walks of life - so they might get some sleaze directed at them on the tables or abuse that might not be directed at guys. While in things like weightlifting there is clearly a difference in ability and men get a large edge from natural testosterone, there is no such limitations when it comes to the power of the mind at the poker tables and it would be nice to see many more conquering the tables now they have increasingly safer environments. It would be nice to think that they are silently dominating the world of online poker behind anonymous aliases.

Every women have their own reason to gamble and we have to respect it, either to have fun or to make money its all depend to then and we should not care about it that much because they are always welcome in gambling. Some women are more risk taker, they gamble very well and that’s why some other great players are women. Though there are still a discrimination at some areas, hopefully women will not be discourage because of this.

Women in the gambling industry are common in my opinion. There is nothing different between women and men in this industry except for gender-specific gambling. It's actually quite easy to see a woman gambling or working in a casino in countries where gambling is legal and I think they are often used as a symbol to attract other male gamblers. In online casino, the use of photo of sexy women is much more frequent than that of handsome men. I don't know any of the women in the OP, but they seem to be women with a much higher interest in gambling than the other women.

You made a good list of prominent poker woman, but Vanessa selbst is not a good example in my opinion. She definitely lost more money than she won.

Lol but your judgement is nothing to deny the woman the spot she occupy on the social media which of course was done through a survey I guess so certainly.

Meanwhile, every gambler or trader has their time that they recorded losses both huge and small. Or you have her record to show why she wouldn't be on the record  Huh

No offence to feminists, but it seems to me that women who are successful at the game of poker differ from other women by their high iq! They keep gambling because they're good at it and they enjoy it! I could say the same about the cryptocurrency craze... According to my observations, smarter women are engaged in stock trading or investing...

Anyone can gamble regardless of gender, whether female or male because basically there are no official rules that state that gambling is only for men. Maybe in some casinos there are such rules which are specially made at the discretion of the casino owner.
In order to avoid something that usually harasses women for men who flirt with crazy seduction. But again, gambling is actually not only for men, but most gambling is still dominated by men.
Gambling doesnt really limit out something when it comes to gender and just like with other natural things or in any activity then theres always some gender inequality and im aint surprised if there

are people whom do really think that Women shouldnt touch gambling at all but it is actually having the same impressions or things in mind that theres nothing that women cant do.

Gambling doesnt really mind of since it isnt really needing whether you're a girl or boy as long you can able to play and when it comes to winning then they are also having those chances.

...

Annette is very young but she is already very good at playing poker and making millions of dollars...

I wonder what they do on a day-to-day basis when they're not in poker competitions, do they train themselves by continuing to play or do what women normally do at home?

I'm confused if I think of them as role models, because surely people don't want their friends, children or sisters to be poker players. even so they are still the greatest woman.

Any gender could go out and gamble as much as they want as long as they want it doesn't matter what the gamblers gender is.
I don't know why people care much about it?
I mean we already male and female sports and also in every gambling site or even offline casino's they doesn't care about their gamblers gender.

They care probably because they are curious about it. Also, it's a rare thing to see women do gambling I mean they are more sensible with money compare to males who are testosterone fueled to play on even though they are losing every time. Yes you are right that we shouldn't care but that doesn't mean that we aren't allowed to be curious and ask questions.

I saw news of some women who have already won considerable sums in gambling, but about the low involvement of women in gambling the explanation is very simple: women are more responsible than men especially in money management and they prefer to use money to buy women's clothes and things than bring money to be at the gambling. while men are more involved in gambling because men are less responsible towards women when it comes to managing household expense money

They are more into other things and not that engaged much with gambling, that's the good thing from women as the attention is not focused alone with one activities they have lots of things inside their minds best to counter any addictions.

Men and women are welcome to gamble, as long as they have the skills to play. They have the freedom at will to be a gambler wherever he is. Even though it sounds a bit excessive if a housewife gambles, her husband stays at home taking care of his children. I believe not all countries allow women to gamble, usually in some countries women are still considered as housewives who work at home taking care of the house and taking their children to school.

Indeed! both genders are welcome and they are free to decide if they wanted to push or they are not going to go deep,

though you said right, there are still places that women considered as housewife and the main concern is only to take good care of the family.

Gambling never limit gender but I believe gambling will only limit anyone who has no money. Getting a woman to gamble is still very difficult in my country where gambling is prohibited but I am quite used to seeing it on YouTube and it seem they are quite used to sitting at tables with other male gamblers. I see they are quite happy to do it even though I feel gambling is very synonymous with men. Women are not limited to doing anything that men can do including gambling, as long as they can afford it then I don't think they should be banned.
Same is with my country. Gambling is much limited, and when it comes to women into gambling it is an unusual thing. Maybe there are women who gamble online for fun/money. Recently myself too saw women coming out of casino in a very casual manner on a gold digger prank video. Our countries need to grow to reach such level of access for women.

Have you gone to a casino and if you have gone you will not make this claim as you will see everyone from each and every folks of life irrespective of color and creed and you cannot put sex into this conversation because in a casino there is no distinction between sexes.

I cannot speculate about online casino as you cannot assume that everyone playing is of one sex, the gambling house that ask for KYC can give you a solid answer regarding that and if you have the skills in poker you can be a world class player and i am not even good at poker and whenever i win i consider them as fluke.

I believe women participation in gambling industry is probably the same of men. I see both genders very involved in gambling. Women and specially old ladies love slots machines, cards, lottery and bingo games.
It's easy to conclude that just by going to a land based casino or by watching some movies which display gambling scenes.

Money. They may say they just want to have fun but surely there are more ways to have fun than playing slot machine or dice. We are all in a rat race and women are among us who also want to succeed in life and everyone needs money.

They could also be successful like the men in  sports. Women can do the same and sometimes can be more sucessful.

Gender does not matter in gambling; it is a recreational activity that anyone can participate in without making gender a factor in the game. Women's gambling is very common in my country; you can see them playing bingo or tongits on any street.

You'll only see a few women in casinos because gambling isn't their favorite recreational activity; they'd rather go shopping than waste time gambling; they'll prioritize what makes them happy. Don't make gambling a male activity only just because majority of the players are male.

I have seen a some of a gambling activities that a women are more involved than men. And there is nothing that a gender hinders in gambling because some cases women can beat a men in and women are more responsible in what they're doing. But yeah most of the gambling activities that a women are more involved are like cards game like mahjong, tong its or other known as poker. In casino type of gambling I've seen only few women that I think only those who can afford to play this game can gamble but one thing I can say in gambling the genders didn't define who can only gamble.
