Blockchain authenticated stamps sound cool, and they look nice, but IMO they are just too expensive! Who's going to pay almost 7 EUR for a fancy stamp? People who make collections, maybe, but I don't think that there will be many other people.

What's up with you guys?
It's a collection stamp, a novelty and it's created in a country where the average wage is 1900 euros a month.
What did you expect? 50 cents?

There are plenty of stamps sets in the link I gave above which go over 20 euros for 4 or 5 stamps.
I really like the idea but ...ETH only...that is a big NO for me.

you can buy also with ethereum and receive at your home.

there is a sort of rarity, red edition has only 1500 pieces.
Black one (most common) 75500 pieces.

Does it mean that it's possible to get it delivered next to our doors? It's interesting that everyone would get the chance to have some of it. It's a great thing that there are crypto related goods which we could purchase anytime. People will surely support this one.

Yes, they are a national postal service and there is an agreement between countries (UPU or something like that) about transit of postage between countries. There is not any expense to pay!
Please note that each stamp will be loaded also with ETH, so it's a kind of crypto-collectibles Wink that we have ever seen!
I am still curious to read more about generation of private key...

But it's nice that this thing is out there, I guess.

Ah, Thank you OP. I am a collector of coins and stamps and everything that has something to do with Crypto currencies, so this is a perfect fit for me. I like the QR code idea and I would like to get hold of this as soon as possible.

It is a pity that email basically replaced letters and stamps these days, because there is just something about receiving a physical letter with a pretty stamp on the envelope that cannot be substituted by electronic documents.  Tongue  < I must say, the stamp is pretty expensive. Roll Eyes >

btw "€ 6.90 apiece" is kind of expensive for a postage? is this normal price in austria?

For collectibles yeah, it's about the same prices as usual editions a bit more costly but around the average.

A normal letter with no priority will ship for 80 cents internally.

Stamps are very beautiful, but now in the 21st century, the age of the Internet, few people now use traditional mail in envelopes. But still an interesting idea.

Honestly it was cool because at least crypto are now getting more attention from the Austrian community. On the other hand, I think post stamps are not so important anymore because there are already social medias and SMS for sending messages to anyone. But ig we will look on the brighter side of it, this is could be a good memorabilia so I'm sure that collectors aout there are now rushing to get this one Smiley.
As stamps collector https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.19001071 and bitcoin/blockchain passionate, I have just placed my order.
Despite I am not a collector of new editions (or Austrian stamps), I think this is a kind of object that deserve to be collected!
Thanks for share!
I've seen one already Smiley.

"The Austrian Post has released a line of crypto collectible stamps, according to a press release on June 11."

One more step to adoption.
this serves more to increase people's awareness of cryptocurrency, ETHereum specifically
it would be a good example of major adoption if these can be obtained only by crypto payment
that would make people learn more about cryptocurrency and its practical use in real world

This kind of adoption no matter how big or small it is would bring a huge impact on the development and improvement of cryptocurrency. It will still spread awareness for those people who aren't well-informed about crypto and Bitcoin. We must appreciate every little adaption because we'll never know how it would affect the market.

"According to the press release, the so-dubbed “crypto stamp” is the first stamp in the world to be authenticated via blockchain technology. The postal service has reportedly issued 150,000 copies sold at € 6.90 apiece."

So these crypto stamps got to be purchased via fiat? Cheesy
These seem to be collectible items rather then something people would actually use on a daily basis because of their cost. Maybe if they could of marketed for its use on the blockchain then the way they did people would be more interested in it as a technological advancement rather than a fad item. Embarrassed

What are the odds these will increase in value one day? Any idea?

Collector market is a bit crazy. Its already available on their shop, so no, this is not another gold chicken for sure Cheesy

BTW in a long term (5-30 years) I will not be surprised for an evaluation between 25-100 euro. It's curios that can be used as stamp (marked with ink)  or scratched! Maybe this is an item that can attract not the classic stamp collector but also blockchain users, and other collector of NFT.

Austrian! Not Australia!
I have placed my order without issues, 0 fees/shipment (to Europe).

Are stamps like this going to be more valuable because they are the first of it's kind? Since I am not living in Australia they would not be used for much else.

What do you think?

I like them. Glad I looked at your link.

How large are they? Is there anything special about the paper substrate they are printed on? They could have holograms, or it could have a futuristic edge to the paper they are printed on.
