OneCoin? It sounds very familiar. It's my first time seeing it here but I'm already seeing it being advertised personally by a store here in the Philippines. I didn't know it was a cryptocurrency though. Good thing scams like this are being sniffed out and getting put behind bars. Man, this type of scams is what's keeping people from investing in cryptocurrency.
Same thing here mate since i saw this also in some store and being introduced by a person i met once from a friend,i am lucky because i find it so good to be true thats why i keep the distance

Now i am trying to reach out my friend if he become a victim of this and waiting for the reply

Whats good in this is now the governments are making actions towards this scammers and i am sure we will be seeing more of this in future.

But lets make this as an example for us not to become a victim of this kind of scammers

I'm very delighted that some good measures are happening to all those that has use the opportunity available with blockchain technology and Bitcoin to scam innocent victims.

The leader of a prolific cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme, OneCoin, was arrested and charged on Mar. 6th. OneCoin Ltd. claims to have 3 million members—or victims—worldwide and has generated over €3.3 billion in fraudulent sales. In reality, the OneCoin “cryptocurrency” did not use a blockchain at all while it scammed investors out of billions.

I remember that one of my facebook friends wayback in the years which she tries to convince me to invest with this scam coin. When she tried to explain at first i know this is already a scam/ponzi
yet you can able to see that their token is growing its price overtime plus having no blockchain which is a guaranteed/absolute thing that it is totally a fraud and im surprised that
there are millions of people got fooled. This do only proves out that lots arent still aware on how blockchain/crypto works.

I saw this news a little while ago.. I think regulations are really required in the crypto eco-sphere before we can ever boast of mainstream adoption.. Investors really need protection

these are the biggest scammers in the Crypto world because thousands of people have supported them and they have a huge army of shills after this I'm 100% sure that no big cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme will come again because they will end up in jail.

It's been a long time since OneCoin was declared a scam. It was probably one of the biggest scams in the history of cryptocurrencies so I am glad they caught and arrested the owner of it. Tens of thousands of people got scammed and some of them lost their whole life savings on this thinking about becoming rich. I all hope that is that he will get a dozen of years in prison.

What's worse is that some people are still getting into obvious scams and not doing their research first. Maybe they know how to present and encourage you but that's the problem with it, it's the people who don't know about it are the ones who easily get scammed. No matter what you do, there would be people doing it.

They are exploiting the lack of knowledge of the society towards cryptocurrencies and other stuff. The scam has been on for a long time but taking advantage of the technology that is new to the people, is hurtful.

Add to that one of the means of rhythm of the victims are
the big and fast profits
These false promises help to make the victim feel confused
He does not conduct impartial research on the project.

Though onecoin has been on for a while, I think bitcoinnect got so many people fooled. If I remember very well, it even reached about $400 coin and it was listed on coinmarketcap too  Grin

Of course those that were smart enough, could immediately tell that it was a ponzi scheme

I am surprised that these guys are still running Ponzi in USA or other countries till now. They were declared Ponzi in India in 2017 and founder is also charged in India.
www.coindesk.com/indian-police-charges-onecoin-founder-ruja-ignatova%3famphere is an existing Wikipedia article on One Coin that clearly says it is Ponzi and wanted by many government in world.
Million dollar question, will investors will get back their billion dollars
This happens, and with cryptocurrency lost is lost forever. If we're lucky, we might get it back. Onecoin is completely a proven ponzi, getting back the investments isn't possible anymore as the founder himself is missing. Recently saw an article about a person who was into tax evasion, escaped to another country, undergone plastic surgery and changed his entire look. With the money he has made himself the citizen of that country. Till now the other country where he did tax evasion is in search of him. Upon the same if the founder is being arrested investors might get back a part of the investments as majority could've been spend.

There is a strong reason why scammers and their big supporters should be weeded out of this industry once and for all as these people are exploiting many victims who are only dreaming of a better life and yet robbed of their hard-earned money just using flowery words and promises of great returns. Though we can also say that victims can be partly blame for this whole thing, the full responsbility lies with the perpetrators and they should be brought to justice for the crimes they made so that we can be dioscourqaging others planning to do the same to stop what they are doing and just do things legally and ethically. I was actually one of the many victims of Bitconnect but I never joined OneCoin because I alreay heard many warnings at the time that it was so popular. These scammers are destroying the whole cryptocurrency industry as victims generally are shying away even with legit platforms.

In my opinion, such a fraud model is one of the causes, people's skepticism towards bitcoin or cryptocurrency. There should be an effort to provide understanding to the public, about blockchain and cryptocurrency. So that in the future there will be no more victims

I found very little news about bitconnect, despite it is some of the most notorious scam, any addition would be most welcome.

Investors and contributors alike need to be aware that they can take legal actions against any scam attempt made in the guise of an ICO or an STO.
This does not protect against those countless projects with little planning and poor execution.
Exchange scams are now more rife and there needs to be a tighter clamp down on all exchange owners.
