The Standard Protocol - Solving Inflation
There have been debates like the on between Peter Schiff and Erik Vorhees and I like those debates a lot. What's important is that the debaters are strong or otherwise it's just boring. Vorhees did so well he really nailed it and you had the feeling all the time that Peter Schiff couldn't really counter his arguments. Schiff had to stick to his guns as he is fully invested in gold.

I think any news and mention about bitcoin will bring more investors to invest in cryptocurrency. That is such as free advertisement. And if that is happen in TV then it is the best because television is wide spread media. This is good technology and if there are some people who explain bitcoin more details then mass adoption will be happen.

I don't think that it may affect too much some investors, for sure a lot of people who watched that debate has already held one of the assets and it won't change their mind by a debate, they have their mind, they have the capability yo think and for sure they already made research before they choose to invest between gold and bitcoin. Some invest in both assets which us a good decision both are good for a long-term investment.

If we are talking in general then it will still be a publicity, and it doesn't matter if it is a good or bad publicity because the end result is that it will make people curious. And with more people on the Internet rather than the television, I think that we will get more publicity online compared to televised debates.

The difference is that especially when talking about big channels like CNBC, people will watch it regardless what the topic is about. As for something just uploaded on the web without a huge public backing, the chances of people finding it(without actually searching for it) would be kinda low.

No, hasn't there been a lot of debates about Bitcoin vs Gold already in the past few years? I'm pretty sure you could already look up a lot of arguments when comparing the two from multiple perspectives. A debate would indeed put crypto and gold into the news for a bit, but that's it. I'm pretty sure those who know of Bitcoin already know of its pros and cons after all.

Plus, investors look at the money or profit side and just seeing what you could've gained from Bitcoin in the past decade, that speaks volumes for itself. It's still quite dependent though since we haven't seen what Bitcoin could do when its supply is maxed out, and we can only wait and see until then.

Not really. There has been a good number of debates concerning Bitcoin already in the past that people could easily access if they'd just search it up on YouTube.

It completely depends though, on how much publicity it would get. If it was something that would be live on television(probably on the likes of CNBC), then maybe it would gain a bit more traction than your usual YouTube debate.

Not at all, trust me when it comes to gold people who have believed the value of it won't get easily influenced by such debate and instead it would just brings up different opinions and probably just trigger some chaotic discussion but that's it. No matter how much saliva coming out of our mouth to explain why bitcoin is better than gold or the other way around definitely won't be impactful to people's opinion regarding gold or bitcoin, the gold investors won't be convinced same with bitcoin investors. Just let the people decide what's good for them by their own judgement.

The debate will just divide the two types of investors:
- those who are in favor of gold vs in favor of bitcoin.

But this literally help them decide which one is better as the debate will gonna state all the possible cons and pros of particular type of investment. Perhaps, those who arent aware that bitcoin can typically consider as an asset value will now have an idea to pursuade it and to accept all the circumstances given by the volatile market. At some point, the debate will attract new investors as they can weigh both advantage of these two types of investments.

There already was a debate between the two. I did not finish watching the whole debate, though. It was kind of long.

Anyway, a debate would benefit the crypto world if the debate is widely watched, shared, and cited around the world and that the one who represented and argued for Bitcoin's position is obviously the winner and the one who represented gold is the loser. In other words, if Bitcoin is clearly arguing for its case being clearly much better than gold, then a debate would be of help. It might bring a lot of investors' money into Bitcoin rather than gold.

However, it seems this is not the case. It seems debates on this are always a fair match and there's no clear winner. Nobody seems to be ahead. Only the avid fans and supporters would think their side prevailed. But both make relevant claims and arguments and it seems the ending is that both are of value and better than the other in different respects.

I lost interest in watching because its not really a popular person on the Gold side. If it was Perter Schiff I would probably finish the entire debate. It's still going though, I think there will be more episodes of this debate hosted by Stansberry Research. It's not however whether someone will win or not both are actually a good investment but I would look at it as meant to educate people.

I mean, they aren't really that influential outside investors who are probably already aware of Bitcoin and Gold. It'll be pretty hard for the average Joe go get attracted to Bitcoin from this debate alone. To be honest, It's not even necessary to have this debate since Bitcoin fulfills a different role from Gold.

I will echo the sentiments of most posters here, no need for debate.

As bitcoiners we know that facts already, bitcoin has been the best assets in the last 4 years already, we don't need to rub it out to those gold bugs. And I doubt that we can change the mindset of old and traditional gold investors, they will remain as gold bugs. On the contrary, we bitcoiners are open minded, we might or might not see gold as a good investments. But in doesn't matter and this kind of debate will not help bitcoin's cause. Let people find out about bitcoin and let them decide for themselves.

I don't think that this debate will have any impact on Bitcoin. How can someone compare Bitcoin to gold, in what terms? These are two completely different entities with different purposes. And this call for debate looks more like a concealed wish to prove that crypto is shit and gold is the best and he (Giustra) knows better.
Anyways, I expect this debate will be rather interesting to watch, maybe I'm wrong and this indeed will have a positive impact.

However, this news isn't that new, because apparently there has already been this debate a week ago, feel free to check it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coHC_9ApBdg

It will be a great event, even there’s no guarantee that it will bring more crypto investors but the intent to educate more people could be the right purpose. Traditional investors are probably already diversifying their portfolio by adding Bitcoin and Altcoins those who don’t wanna miss the opportunity.

I don't think he is the right knowledgeable person for such a debate. If he has any disagreement with Saylor's statement, he can call a press conference and refute the argument  Lips sealed . Only time will tell whether Gold is good or Bitcoin as an investment, there is no debate here. Already the big companies like Tesla, Paypal, Bank have realized how quickly and reliably Bitcoin is coming to investors with a Return of Investment. Moreover, Bitcoin is not just an investment asset, it is a medium of decentralized currency transactions, So in all cases the comparison of Gold with Bitcoin does not work.

Do you think such a debate would bring more investors into the crypto world?
Anything that will give positive vibration or even negative is advertising. Everyone knows gold but still there are people in many corners do not know about crypto industry. So anything helps of course.

Why do people keep on comparing bitcoin with gold?
Because they are none sense LOL
I guess gold is the most valuable asset in physical form. This could be the reason to compare the most valuable asset in the vertual world.

I feel like it wouldn't be able to convince people to choose one over the other but it would give bitcoin some more presence in the media which can't be bad.

Maybe some random people will click it and watch it out of pure boredom and one day decide to get some bitcoin because why not? If you skip a few bottles of alcohol a year or a few packs of cigarettes and put that money in Bitcoin you can't go wrong!

I saw some news article on kitco.com (video interview) titled "Frank Giustra challenges Michael Saylor to gold vs Bitcoin debate" and from the video interview kitco had with  Frank Giustra who happens to be a gold guru called out Michael Saylor who happens to be a crypto to a gold vs Bitcoin debate.

Do you think such a debate would bring more investors into the crypto world?
Nah, I don't think that we need this kind of public debate.

Everyone has it's own, gold or bitcoin. It wouldn't attract more on either assets if there is a debate and there's no net to compare both of them. So I would say stop this s**t, and stop comparing the two. Both are good investments to be honest, and it boils down what the person wants, the debate won't settle anything.
