You are a geek if you are too early to the party!
I thought people knew that Satoshi was just a pseudonym for a group of people?

Its not one person, its a collection of at least 3 people.

That is why sometimes there are differences in how the text has been presented, which, if it was just one person, would lead to a very interesting mix of circumstances!

To me, its really not important who came up with the idea, because if it wasn't this group, it would have been somebody else.

However, the number of stories I've read seems to suggest that bitcoin certainly has a British connection, and possibly no Japanese connection.

I think Satoshi is who created mt gox as well, Satoshi sounds like japanesse and is where mt gox is from, mt gox keeps the bitcoin as the unique crypto coin on his exchange. maybe mt gox the first exchange was in the plans from the begining.

Unlikly that Mt.Gox was planned as Bitcoin exchange from the very start.

You are aware that Mt.Gox stands for Magic The Gathering Online Exchange?

It's also my favorite success story, think about it, they now handle Millions daily.

Antifragile
Has anyone considered that Satoshi Nakamoto is a government?

What about a government that is sick and tired of the Hegemony of the USA? And of course, due to the nature of BTC, this government would have to be willing to see their own currency go by the wayside. Perhaps BTC will exist just long enough to crash Fiat money's of today and then just go by the wayside? I mean, money as we know it and even BTC, is going to be a passing thing. It is just a pointer, to get us going in the right direction.

I am not a coder, but the more I read from coders about the incredible code in BTC, the anti-fragile nature and it surviving years of attacks, one has to wonder if it was a team effort of the highest levels.

Now, if some variation of the above is not true, then perhaps we have a prodigy on our hands. You know, the kind that comes across only when the Universe and Mankind need it.

Who knows, he wanted privacy for a reason though and we should all respect that.

sure, as long we trust he or they aren't CIA or something - would suck to find out we've been promoting the new global currency for the bilderberg group.

I know that nobody knows for sure ...

But say estimated at a reasonable chance e.g. over 50%?

Is this our best guess so far?

Maybe his GPG key will reveal something:

I dont know if Satoshi was a common man who used his knowledge of maths and finances/ economy with his programing skills or there is a powerful man or group behind him, maybe the stablishment itself.. i think we will never know

Finding Satoshi
When Bitcoin really makes it big, I wonder if they'll write a book on Satoshi. Half of the book will be all of his posts on this forum. That would be interesting.

I'll be damned if he wasn't in every economics textbook by 2040.

Or science-fiction, or philosophy, or political science, computing-science.... the genres that Satoshi could fit into is literally endless.

If Philip K Dick was alive today, I wonder what interpretation he could make of Satoshi.

S/He always used two spaces after the ending dot of a sentence. That's something only US people do.

For reals?  I thought everyone did that Shocked

Let's assign to Satoshi a nationality. Of all nations, China is most populous. Therefore, it's most likely Satoshi is Chinese.

How about an occupation? The most common occupation is a retail salesperson. Satoshi should therefore be a retail salesperson.

I've got it, folks: Satoshi is a Chinese Retail Salesperson!

Close. Satoshi is actually a Chinese Relic Collector.

I doubt there is such a thing as a mathematician that knows how to program in C++ so well.

A professional mathematician does probably not have time to learn a programming language as complicated as C++.

Also, maths in the bitcoin protocol are not really advanced.  It's easily comprehensible for any software engineer.
