The game of chess is a person to person game or as the case may be in online, a computer/casino to person kind of game, the only way I can get involved in this game on a casino is, if the casino will make it available as an in-house game where I could play against the house, just like we do with dice, blackjack and the likes.

Playing chess against the house would be a great experience, but this would only be possible if the casino is trustworthy or reputable enough not to try to cheat on the game, so if any casino would build and onboard chess in their platform, and allow winning to be fair for both sides, it would be great.

I wonder what kind of doping can chess players use?

Chess games are very demanding and (paradoxically) they should be fit.

For the beginning you may read that paper:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/280741588_Doping_for_Chess_Performance
Sound seriously, no?

Let me quote part of abstract:
Quote
An illicit improvement of brain performance for chess playing may be achieved by several measures: 1. Increase of O2 supply by therapy with erythropoietin (EPO) for chess tournaments at high altitudes and for chess players with lung diseases 2. Increase of body glycogen by therapy with insulin 3. mental stimulation by caffeine AAS, anabolic agents, amphetamines, nicotine and cocaine have no proven effect on quality of chess playing. Many steroid- and proteohormones such as cortisol, testosterone, ACTH, EPO, GH, hCG, IGF-I, Insulin, LH, present positive effects on brain development and cognition only when present in natural concentrations during development of brain.

When it comes in betting it is an advantage to know who is the players and to whom we are dealing our money with. Im not aware in Chess gambling in real and online casinos but in our neighborhood and in school before some small betting were made depending on who we give our supports and it's more into the one we're familiar with. There is popular show now in Netflix Queen's Gambit that attracts more gamblers to try chess betting and like other sports gambling this requires us knowledge in the previous games of the players unless they are both newbies then we can base on luck.
Same with other sports or any other fields I.e singing, dancing, gaming, which has an upcoming contests and tournaments on them, there will always be a curiosity to check your opponent and you will try to watch their previous games/performance on youtube so that you will know how they play/perform and you will do some preparation but I think some contenders will try to change their playstyle because they are also aware of this.

Is the Netflix show about chess new? That's great then and I hope it gets popular so that chess sport is also going to be popular as well as this sport is slowly being forgotten anymore. I know a lot of chess players are so disappointed about it. Some of them also want to test their skills and bet on real money but it's hard for them to find a betting site which supports it.

I cannot remember betting on a game of checkers, although I also played a lot of it when I was a kid. What I can only remember is betting on chess games. Chess was a good pastime game when I was younger, way back when there were no cellphones and computers to kill your time. I have made bets on chess games with friends. Those were the good old days. Many of my classmates before knew how to play chess. Today I notice that many kids don't play chess anymore. They're mostly glued on their PC or smart phone.
Yeahhh .... You got that perfectly old boy.... Way back in those old days, we will all gather around in a local joint ( gender wasn't segregated), and we will show our expertise outrightly, that wasn't too hard to figure out who makes the best tag team together -- or prolly, who knows the intricacies of the game. These days, those juvenile would do nothing better than stick to their PCs and Tabs; I don't even feel surprised when they get their chorse done for 'em by their moms or a maid.
Quote
But if there's a PvP platform today for betting, I think I don't trust my chess skills anymore.
I won't even try betting on my first trial after a long time ... No!! That'll just mean throwing away some few bucks carelessly; but I think I won't have much difficulties when trying to get my skills back... I think it's way more easy for someone that has some gaming IQ.

The only names I cannot forget in today's chess are Magnus Carlsen and Ding Liren. So I won't bet on chess tournaments these days only because I am not so updated as to who are the top players these days and their playing styles which matter a lot when it comes to betting.

Besides without knowing players on chess. The main factor why chess betting is not popular is because upsets rarely happened on the regular chess games since most of the game is always calculated by the higher tier grandmaster. Obviously if bookie add this sports then the odds will surely be one sided and no one is interested on this kind of odds.

The only time most upset games happened is on the different type of chess which chess piece is place randomly or the fast phase version with low time frame to think.

That's right. People who are very good stay good. From time to time they lose a game but in general the top GMs stay top GMs until they retire. The only thing you can really bet on is a draw because draws in chess happen more often than in any other game. Usually each player has at least 30% draws in all their games. This makes chess betting pretty unique and unpredictable since you have very high probability of a draw, unlike in other sports like mma or boxing where draws almost never happen.
I wouldn't bet on chess because I don't know enough about the game but it has a large community of people who might be interested.

Chess tournaments as well as checkers may be a good sports field for the betting industry. I know I would bet in a chess match as I already did that against a friend. We have gathered a group pf players in my neighbourhood. Thrn we started with a betting game where we could bet on the winner ot we could bet on first player going for a check. Ithe experiment worked out fine. So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?
That's equally a nice idea, but before I begin, I will love to ask one question. Do we have any Chess tournaments televised live just like we do have for soccer, MMA and Basketball, played weekly or daily where people go bet on/predict who is going to emerge winner of the tournament?? Do we? Because before thinking about integrating that into the casino,  it must have been something that is already in place physically, played on a regular basis.

Maybe for me not all the time even though I know that game but still it's hard to predict who will win it because in the chess game mind is your weapon once you have a mistake then there's a 50% that you can recover as we all know that your opponent take that advantage to win the match and also nowadays I don't know the background of the players who played in the tournament so I decided. To not bet in chess game maybe I'll do some research before I bet.

If it will be held online, no but it will be held face to face  but through online gambling site why not right? I really love chess since birth and we often make bets during weekends, there's a place in here where most of the people are old we always makes bet with them sometimes for food or small amount of money since we're just too young to make bets we will be reported to our school if they will know. So if there will be an online betting for chess I would love to participate and bet with it.

I played chess a lot when I was a kid but I stopped when I entered college. Last year I tried to follow it again with the purpose of betting but then again life became busy and I really do not have much spare time for it. So I won't bet on chess tournaments these days only because I am not so updated as to who are the top players these days and their playing styles which matter a lot when it comes to betting.

If there really is a gambling site that offers chess games for betting, especially if it is on the same level as a soccer gambling board or other sports, for me this is difficult to analyze to conclude the statistical ratio of wins, maybe that can only be taken from the history of the player's wins and losses. just chess without any other calculations.
This game is also easy to modify by bookies, where they can easily arrange who wins and loses because what we know is that chess doesn't have many management teams, so it's easy for bookies to intervene in players to make profits from gamblers who bet on matches chess.

I don't think I'll be betting on a chess match.

Therefore, the game of chess is not adopted by any gambling platform to my knowledge. the reason is, this game is not as interesting as other types of sports, especially those related to gambling. and usually the betting of this game, is carried out by the people who will play it.

I'm not sure the same as you, if it turns out that there are casinos that adopt it as one of the features they offer. we don't have knowledge related to the analysis of this game, and how we will do the betting. and what is the difference with other sports betting, such as football betting. based on this conclusion also i feel, that gambling platforms are not interested in adopting it. also, as you said, this game is also easily modified by bookies. and most importantly, will this game have a strong appeal for gamblers to bet on it. I'm pretty sure, no.

Probably won't. In the first place, I am not into Chess and other board games. Second is, not to conclude but is it not something to be easily manipulated regarding results? Unlike with fighting games wherein fighters would need to be serious of what they are doing because they could endanger their lives, I cannot see anything of a downside to a chess player if he'd manipulate resulta regardless of who'd win. But I won't be trying to set a boundary against those who are into this kind of 'sport'. If it is profitable, then ofcourse there will be people to admire its idea.  But in my end, I'd probably stay with the sports which I enjoy watching to atleast disregard match fixations.
I also have the same doubt. I used to play chess during my high school and college days so I know how the game works so I also believe that it could easily be manipulated which is a huge risk for us bettors. Unlike other sports games, chess is a mind game and we couldn't predict what's on the players' minds so it's hard to make our analysis.
There's a possibility of having a cooked chess game just like any other games out there but I agree that it is somehow easy for chess players to throw a game. Though it is different when professional chess master are playing the game. I'm not fond of playing chess but It's obvious that achieving a chess master title is hard and throwing your title for such money isn't likely to happen. But at the end, I'm not fan of chess and I don't enjoy watching chess game so naahhh, I don't think I will bet on chess games or being interested on it.

Sites like betnomi allow us to bet on chess matches as you can see in the next image:

Some weeks ago there was a nice match, Nakamura VS Magnus. Nakamura was the underdog, he pays something like x4. I bet on him and win, it was just a bad day for Magnus.

Chess is a weird "Sport" to bet on, and most of the Master Vs Master matches end in a draw, so, is not the most exciting "Sport" to bet.

I agree. Personally I feel something is wrong in that connection. I know players are people like any others, there are cheaters and people who use doping, but I do not want to see chess games at the same pages as soccer betting etc.
Probably sooner or later we will have bets on chess games because if anything may make money, we will see that implemented.

It always seemed to me that if a tournament is held under the watchful eye of observers, the success of the chess player depends only on his skills and mental abilities. In my opinion, cheating is only possible if the tournament is online and we can't see the chess players.

Magnus Carlsen kinda hinted that it's better to play online than OTB because the latter does not do any strict checks anymore unlike in online tournaments wherein they will thoroughly scan your computer and will ensure that you will not have anything to use that will aid you in cheating. It's not only him who voiced this concern but also other GMs playing at the highest level of chess. I remember Anish Giri once commented about how lax the security measures are in OTB chess compared to online tournaments.

I wonder what kind of doping can chess players use?

That's a good question. Pretty sure they are allowed to drink supplements for memory enhancers at the least. Not sure about other drugs but IIRC microdosing of shrooms and ecstasy is being used by some elite businessmen to keep their mental alertness at its peak during their work hours, so maybe there's that.

Chess became very popular during the pandemic as many people were looking for games to play online from home during the lockdowns. Especially speed and blitz chess saw a real boost and can be played now at any time online against thousands of other people. There are also a lot of smaller tournaments happening now more regularly. Just last month we had the Speed Chess Championship Main Event 2022 where Hikaru Nakamura managed to beat Magnus Carlsen in the finals. I am pretty sure there are already quite a lot of opportunities to bet money on the games. I never really bet money on chess matches, I only follow the matches for entertainment. But I am sure that I saw all the big bookmakers offering quotes for the Speed Chess Championship finals. As for checkers I never really played the game myself and didn't follow any news about it. Are there even any big tournaments happening? If there is no media coverage of it and not many players attending than I don't see a market for betting on it.

I don't know if I will bet on chess or not because I don't really like it. The game of chess is really a game that uses the brain to be able to beat your opponent and maybe not many casinos provide this game as a bet. But if the chess game is played in my neighbourhood, maybe I would bet on a player who I think has good skills in playing chess. But the chess game was not very popular in my environment and the young people near me played basketball.

I have seen many types of games in the gambling world where I have not seen any gambling site with chess. Although it is also a more exciting game. But what I think is that the casino or the gambling company cannot make much profit by conducting these games. Because chess games require extra time. Gamblers or gambling companies can be boring for everyone as there is no fixed time. Another big thing is that only those who are more intelligent can win here so the gambling company cannot profit from running this type of game. No one is encouraged to play games that do not depend on luck. I love this game but haven't found any platform to play it.

Chess' bets aren't taken in consideration by most gamblers, because they can be easily cheated by third party softwares when played online. There are several stories exposing that, some involving famous players of the industry and personalities of the internet in general.

Exactly, it doesn't even rule out the possibility of cheating in real games, especially if the party behind it is involved in betting where game scenarios may be pre-planned to win one of them. Then the title of champion is no longer a serious object if the winning money from the bet is even bigger. Maybe I'll just bet on my own matches.

I will love to see it in an online casino but I don't know if there is any. I can bet on it if I know the capacity of how good the person playing is but this game has a lot of cheat in it,I guess that is why it is not in an online casino.

On the online casino, how can you know the capability of who is playing? possible, unless you have known a person who is good at playing chess in your area; that's when you can speak of capabilities. But on the online casino, how do you tell about capabilities?

@libert19 just said you can bet on chess in the Megapari Casino; maybe you should take a look if you really love chess.

Will always have this urge to bet in Chess specially if this is PvP because I love playing this board game, and I must admit that I am good at it lol.

but there are no sites that I come across offering this kind of gambling , but will not rely in other playing for me instead will only bet when i am the one playing.

It's some kind of friendly betting. For sure, most of us bet on things when we are children, and this is one of them since chess was very popular. Though I haven't bet on myself when I play chess because I only know the basics and it is a mental game for me, so it is difficult for me, there have been tournaments before in our school in which we will be betting players to see who will be the champion in our school, just a friendly bet like others bet food or other items or money. It was fun to gamble with your schoolmate, and we are laughing that none of our bets won.
yeah this would be a friendly Betting , but depend in whos who are playing against each other.

Yes, chess seems to be in in 80's with the like of many Russian grandmaster rising like Karpov and Kasparov. And recently if I'm not mistaken, there is a Netflix series about a lady playing chess, so just imagine that time that some lady will disrupt the industry (I forgot the title).

Betting? sure, there are only 2 players facing each other and so like the odds could be 50/50, of course there will be a draw in between.

Lately though there is some controversy regarding some GM accusing of someone of cheating though.

So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?
Of course OP and why will I not bet on it if possible. It is a game/sport that can be bet on just like almost any other competitive sports and I will not mind betting on it even if it is an offline bet between friends. I think good analysis about a player who will win in a Chess or Checkers game to know who to bet on can be made by analyzing the previous recent results of the players and the experience they have because it experience counts a lot in Chess or Checkers. If people can bet on the weirdest sports, I do not see any reason for common chess or checkers to be left out.
If we know some chess players, we can try to bet and vice versa. But whatever you choose, you should not use a lot of money, especially if you are not good at it because it will carry the risk of losing money. But if it is just for fun, it would be okay to do but always limit the money you use to bet. But it's rare to see a game of chess available on a sports betting site or me not to see it available there. And even though there are, maybe not too many fans compared to other popular sports.

First I checked at the casino that I was promoting in the signature campaign and it turned out that chess is not on the list of sports betting, maybe because chess is not a sport that has a lot of fans who are interested in betting on existing matches or it could be because there are not as many tournaments in this sport other sports where every day or week there are always matches being held.
I don't think I will bet on sporting events like chess because of course the type of bet will be different from other usual sports where I bet and don't really follow about the world of chess, so I will have to adapt which chess grandmaster is superior and so on to be able to win the bet or at least more familiar with this sport.

So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?
back in the days when I was in college? there is a place near my University where Tables are set up for Chess gambler , I mean in that area chess lovers gather and make a Bet against each others.
Chess is skill based and I'm not that good in chess. These kind of P2P games when played with friends it'll be very interesting. Maybe I'll try with my girl, because she's better in chess and have won in her college days. If I was to play against the system, then I won't prefer it. Because for every move we do, the system is assigned with specific moves and the match can't be won.
maybe lets bet together in Online chess ? me and your GF for a friendly match  Grin

kidding aside , most of us being a chess player since childhood as my father is also a chess player .

Not at all, and given that chess games can go on for a long time, even less so. You could play the variants that put a time limit on each move, but even so, the guessing game is much more difficult if you are dealing with players you don't know.

If it's about players you know, as you talk about your neighbourhood, it doesn't make sense, because if player A knows how to play a lot and player B doesn't, everyone will bet on A, and no one on B.

Well, I guess Chess doesn't get enough market in a betting platform and that explains why we rarely see a platform that accepts betting from a Chess game.

If there is no offer there is a reason, typically because there is not enough demand.

People or bettors always love to see and bet on a sport with an actual action, like football, basketball, and MMA's.
Chess on the other hand is kinda boring to watch and to put a bet on, but of course not for those who love the game.
Not unless if you're the one playing and placing a bet, you'd for sure enjoy the betting experience.

And if I'm not mistaken, there were a thread in the past or discussions as whether if chess is considered sports as there are no actual actions. Just two players sitting on opposite side and moving the pieces.

But in any case if there I will only bet if I know the players that are going to the match. Sort of analyzing which one has the better numbers in terms of winnings. Yes though, I see this kind of games in the street here and it involves money.

And then when I was in college I will frequently see checkers game, you will be given 3 moves to win and win some money.

Maybe. But only for known tournaments and not exhibition matches because that is prone to cheating.
When I was young I use to bet against my opponent in a game of chess. Just a little amount to make it more competitive as many of my friends don't want to get serious with matches when they think it's just to pass time. Put a dollar or a couple in the bet to win the match and they will change the way they will play, it gets a bit intense and I can see them thinking harder.  Cheesy
Chess had a hard time getting viewers even until now but if it's available then it can be considered.

But if there's a PvP platform today for betting, I think I don't trust my chess skills anymore.

Why not? I'd 100% vote for Magnus Carlsen in matches with him though, mans a beast. But well, I do enjoy a match or two of chess every now and then but at times it's pretty predictable, I'd actually much rather enjoy someone who does a twist mid-game, even if a mistake. But well, blitz exists anyway so I'm mostly there most of the time. Fun and fast-paced without any double thinking most of the time, especially in the end when most pieces are dead and the setups required are limited to only a few pieces.

It is reasonable though why it's less famous (imo) compared to other sports like basketball. Adrenaline rushes through you in those types since it's pretty obvious, unlike in chess where it's mostly a mental battle (and where players are already fighting in their brains a few moves ahead).

I love board games, especially those that require more reasoning, obviously Chess is one of my favorite sports.
In my school days, chess was a frequent activity, while most of my colleagues preferred to play ball between classes, some friends and I would go to a chess table.
However, I never bet on Chess, it was always just a very fun pastime.

Currently Chess betting games seem to be in decline, I looked around here and didn't find anything that was interesting or reliable to bet on, and I believe that the trend is for it to become increasingly scarce.

Currently people prefer to bet on a game that is faster and has more action, unfortunately bookmakers follow this trend by increasingly eliminating bets on games that are less popular.

I personally wouldn't be betting on chess matches at all because I am not any good at chess.  Now if you're asking if I would bet against say professional chess players facing off in some sort of tournament, then if I got really bored I might be talked in to putting a few satoshis down on a game.  However if you mean like placing bets in favor of you/yourself facing someone else or a buddy, I wouldn't just because I'm not any good, but if I was I sure as heck would.  Why not.

Edit: though there is some concern about players cheating of late..so that gives me some pause.

do you really think that cheating scandal is true? or the other veteran player was butt hurt that he was beaten by a younger one? though i don't know the truth about that situation, and  won't bet in professional chess matches. hard to wait who will emerge as winner.or if you are rooting for certain players, maybe. but not betting with big amount of money.

as far as I know, they are already doing this. there is even a ranking for the best chess engine out there.

Of course! There's the FIDE rank, and there are sites that match you online with others based on your rank. That doesn't mean it's safe from cheaters.
huh? the part you quoted is an answer to goldkingcoiner interest in AI vs AI chess. I am just informing him that developers are already making matches between two AI chess engines to know which one is better.

Chess is a game based on skills not luck. This makes this a game not worth betting on in our AI age. Even back when AI did not exist we had computers who could easily defeat world champion chess players using simple lines of code with a well defined algorithm.

In other words, I am saying its a game in which it is too easy to cheat, if your opponent is human.
I think OP is referring to "over-the-board chess tournaments" and not online.

Rigged and fixed games happen so yeah it is easy to cheat in this game.

that is basically almost every sport. anyway, goldkingcoiner is talking about cheating by using AI against a human.

^ Yes of course.
This is my favorite game before when I was in college but now, it is occasionally I played once I have a vacant time together with my relatives.
But it is different in gambling casino that has this kind of game, probably in live betting but it is hard to find someone online that we don't know if our opponent is a bot or an areal human. Chess tournament is very common now if they have a live online sometimes it is good to place a bet especially if you know very well the player.
When im still on college then this is a game where i do really have the fun the most and now when i do already have my own family then i did teach my son about it.Yes, its entertaining and enjoyable but not

something that would really be fitting out on gambling field or industry or on casinos. Most users had already mentioned out about its disadvantages and for sure it wont really be that a main choice
for most casino platforms.

It would be great if there's someone who would really be offering but im not really that expecting much because it would be always basing up with the demand.

I used to play chess with my friends and often times we bet on the outcome.  Bettin on chess isn't new to me so whenever there is a site where we can bet on checkers or chess, I would go and bet on the upcoming matches.

if there is a large number of people who are going to bet on it every time there is a tournament, maybe. I've noticed bookmakers usually only post odds on sports that are very popular and have a very large community.

Well for bookmakers its all business so rather than booking a less popular event for betting, they will book the one that they thing will gather more profits.  Besides, they don't want to saturate their listings making the bigger event to be missed out by their client.

It's something sweet to bet on but it's somewhat impossible to set that up -- Cus who's gonna play against who? Or better still, it could be arranged in a way the bettor wagers and play -- out of his built-in passion for the game in question -- with another bettor,....when any of them gets to loose eventually, no one gets the blame....lol
Employing AIs to play against themselves would also be a good option as goldking proposed... Another important thing to consider is; how often would bettors get to win on this?? Since it's pretty obvious that the whole thing would be programmed?? ... secondly, if it were to happen (cus I know we're merely assuming), don't you think the casino that'll have this options for it gamblers would also suffer the risk of running a business over a huge uncertainty?? Just being curious though

So far I've never understood how to play chess let alone bet there, but I thought was this kind of gambling safe from the mafia who could arrange winners so that people lose at this gamble, I'm more interested in soccer or basketball matches because it's easier to get to know the players and the club

I have gained my interest on chess upon seeing those grand masters playing against each other. And I've seen threads in here that have also discussions about chess.

As for betting with chess matches, honestly, I don't want to see it added with some bets. But as we know, every sport is just too good to have that thrill with betting.

Of course, it's all about the professional matches and not with the AI/computer matches, who would bet with that?   Tongue

I don't know much about chess, although I know how to play it. I probably don't need a chess betting site. In my opinion, chess is unpopular with those who like to bet. If you want to bet on the victory of your favourite chess player then that's your choice. But I prefer more dynamic sports.
There are some that are still willing to bet on a game like this, personally I prefer to bet on a more active sports so with this, I will also not place a bet on a chess. This mind game is quiet not my type since I’m also not familiar with the players which I think is more complicated if you will place a bet. If there’s a site offering this kind of bet, I think they should market it more so gamblers can have interest on that.

Chess is a very skillful game which I love playing with my husband till date,he taught me how to play and very funny sometimes I do win him with just some moves. As long it is a game betting must be at stake,I will love to see it in an online casino but I don't know if there is any. I can bet on it if I know the capacity of how good the person playing is but this game has a lot of cheat in it,I guess that is why it is not in an online casino.

I would bet on a P2P game and not computer chess games,in 1996 we had the Champion of the World beat by AI at that time and it was one of the biggest surprises so I am never betting on a computer controlled chess game, the AI has become super powerful as of lately so I can only imagine what such a computer can do even to the World Champion.

I don't know such site exist and chess is not a popular casino game from what I have seen from almost all the casinos that I have played so the only way I can bet is in a chess tournament to people playing there, kinda like PokerStars in Tv,you can bet on them as far as I know.

As long as it's properly moderated and managed, with a decent competition build up to knock out any lower quality players, then it is as likely to be a fair sport to bet on as any other. However unless someones reputation and a long winning streak is on the line, it is possible for one of the two players to lose by choice quite easily with just one move. You also have to remember that these might be some of the most intelligent people on the planet and might be very tempted to fix a match if the right sort of money was on offer. It is not exactly a thrilling spectator sport for most people compared to other more adrenaline filled activities or even just the very visually stimulating game of football.

Personally I would, but knowing that the top chess players are very predictable when it comes to their circles, I wouldn't really risk it not until it's in the championship game. Magnus has already expressed his annoyance about GMs continuously using book moves just to win, and with them knowing a lot of these moves, progressions, and all that sort of stuff, it's just a matter of who really read the theories more and who has a lot more creativity in their positions.

In the lower elos, say 2400 - 2700, it might be possible to bet on those GMs but they're very unpredictable compared to the GMs in 2800+. As what Hikaru Nakamura once said in his streams, those in 2400 - 2700s are still playing "unrefined" chess and they can be very unpredictable, and are more prone to errors compared to the 'refined' GMs in 2800+.

Of course, this is only if we're talking about betting on professional chess players. But if I were the one to play chess against other enemies? Hell no. I can't even surpass 1800 in online chess even if they say that it's a relatively easy elo to get through Cheesy

A draw is the most common result between top players in the world. Soon the tournament will start in the Netherlands, Tata Steel chess tournament. I would never bet on blitz games, those games can go in any direction. At a classic pace of play, the better players generally emerge. There are also often games that quickly end in a draw. You should think of games between compatriots or that they can secure a shared tournament victory in this way. There might be some value in that.

True. Playing for draws is what the current meta is for chess, as most grandmasters are very familiar with endgames and such that it's only a mix of creativity to play from whichever position. In blitz, these GMs need to think 4 or more moves ahead in order to keep up with the pace of the game, whereas in classic they can employ their own thought process as if they're solving a chess puzzle online, which results into good moves and better plays.

I would never bet on blitz games, those games can go in any direction. At a classic pace of play, the better players generally emerge. There are also often games that quickly end in a draw. You should think of games between compatriots or that they can secure a shared tournament victory in this way. There might be some value in that.

So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?
personally i would not bet on a chess match, its so complicated to predict the odds of winning.
I myself am not very happy with chess betting and if I see there has never been a bet on an online site about chess gambling. If there is, I probably don't know.
For me, a chess match is very annoying, I have to always think about a very complicated strategy, and sometimes a chess master can lose to a new player. so I don't really like chess bets.

Chess is something an interesting game but making out bets would be only be possible or could really be seen locally or physically but not we can able to see up online.
There are several factors which would give out some hindrance for people to play, one is fairness which they would be that mindful whether they are fighting with a bot or a real person.
Next, the house or a platform cant really make money much on a long duration type of pvp game which means that it isnt something or doesnt look interesting for any company
or would consider on adding it up but rather they would be adding fast pace games like dice and other casino games.

Chess event = YES

PVP feature CHESS = NO

Better to risk money on chess events if bookies will list it instead of playing directly a chess match in an online gambling platform.

Since chess, if we played it online against an opponent, can be subject to the use of bots, our skills are all useless against the bot's algorithm.

This is true.

Did make some research and we should at least know the standard time for each game.
Casual games usually last 10 to 60 minutes; tournament games last anywhere from about 10 minutes (fast chess) to 6 hours or more.

For Chess enthusiast then having a betting site or something you could play against with other players then it would be a nice add up or advantage but
pretty sure that only a few whose really interested on this one.

Cheess is a good game that few people only knows how to play. If there is a sirmte where we could bet on Chess game and winner then that would be fine but what would make many gamblers not to consider that as an option is because there may be no individual chess player record where we can check and guess a winner based on there precious history. Of this would be available for gamblers just like we have in football matches where analysis are based on the club formation and different past matches to compare what would be the outcome on the future in current matches.

Chess games is believed to be a kind of game that requires experience and lots of calmness and thinking to strategies the pattern to use in playing, it also help understand the process one van safeguard himself against any intruder, but it surprised me why many casinos are not including this into their list of acceptable games to gamble with, also maybe it's a kind of game that is believed to be commonly played by the rich men.

hard to really analyze the skills of chess players when they get to thier career where they are both known in chess. with only one false move, they could just surrender in a game that started less than a minute.
I would say it's hard to analyze them from games because they are so much more better then me.
I can analyze athletics even if they are better then me but when it comes to brain work, how can i analyze someone who thinks 20 moves before me.

I's say i am pretty smart but when we talk about genius level players, i completely lose the scale on how smart they are compared to each other. I might bet on some low level games though.

We have quite a number site offering chess betting opportunity, the issue is just that it isn't that popular because the sport itself isn't very popular to encourage gamblers to try their luck. Chess is a skill game as such anybody betting must have the skills to understand how the game is going. It isn't a luck based game like many other betting opportunity that gamblers rely on their luck game for them to win.

Chess betting won't have many gambling participating as it isn't a common sport so I see no point of it been on every gambling platforms to make it popular. I have played chess once and it was too calculative for me to love it. I don't think I'll buy into the idea of relying on players that I don't know their ability to win the games.

Coming from a country where chess is one of the sports here that has a chance to compete with dominant countries, yes, I would like to place a bet for a chess match that involved our representative. Asia's 1st Grandmaster was also here in our country, Eugene Torre and there are lots of current GMs here that are working on their ELO rating.

Unfortunately, because of the poor handling of some athletes here in the country including the sport of chess, the famous Wesley So who is a product of our country decided to switch his country of representative several years ago or I think almost a decade now.

Anyways, sharing a chess-related thread here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/chess-fide-candidates-chess-tournament-2022-5404544

I don't think people would make bets on a game that bores them... and we all can agree that watching people playing chess has zero entertainment value. Checkers ain't any different. It is just another boring board game.

I think people rather would bet on e-sports  like DotA, CS, LoL etc. These games provide more entertainment to the youngsters especially.

And old people who like playing chess are usually wise enough to not make a bet on anything.

I have heard from friends that the game of chess is one of the best. They say it is a game for the wise and royals. But I wouldn't bet on any game that I don't have any experience in. I don't know how to play chess, infact I don't have any interest. The only way I could try it is when I learn about the game or at least have foundational knowledge about the game. Including it in gambling sites might be a good idea because gamblers that are well grounded in the sport might find it very fascinating. After all, having many sports or games on gambling sites makes betting more interesting.

As a chess admirer , I would prefer this sport to be outside of betting because Chess was not meant to be for betting.

Chess is a game and any game can be used as bet since it involves different party or persons involved in it and competing to win against the other person for price or position. So it won't be taking outside of betting. I foresee a time that this will be added in the betting option like the popular games we know.

I have been playing chess since I was in my elementary days so I know how the entire game works. It needs analytical skills and strategy to win. It's good to include it in gambling but one of the hard factors that could affect our decision is the struggle of choosing players to bet on because it's like a mind game so we can't determine their capability easily. It could only attract gamblers who are also into playing chess.
I also understand that playing chess used to be often played with friends to hone my mind and skills to build strategies in this game but I have never bet and don't know how to do it, if this really existed?
I just enjoyed the game first while for other bets in chess I didn't really pay attention and if it was in a casino maybe I would try it to bet.

Well, I actually do not know if it really exists, but this post is just for that. For anyone who knows any site offering this sort of bets to post here. As for betting in chess, I actually think that it could work like any other sports, hence my post.

I, like many people, used to play chess and I think this game is very good, but personally I am not interested in betting on chess tournaments as well as watching other people play. In my opinion it is much more interesting to play chess yourself, but only if the game was not online (without the ability to use artificial intelligence).

I think I would give it a chance.
I am not well informed about chess as an intellectual sport but sounds like something I could get used to after a while. I would not watch the matches in live time though, I would wait for the results too come out and then watch the replay at high speed.

I used to play chess myself, but I was never good enough to be competitive.  Tongue

Due to how fierce and fascinating checkers and chess tournaments can be to watch, it's feasible that some individuals could be interested in placing bets on them. It's crucial to remember that gambling may be risky and addictive, thus it's crucial to play responsibly and stick to one's budget. If you do choose to gamble, it's crucial to make sure you are doing it on a respectable and reliable website.

if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?

Indeed, I can bet if I will participate in the game. As for the bet on others, of course not, because I do not know much about the famous people of the game

I understand the basics of Chess but there's not enough coverage for this game to spark more public interest. Even some of the biggest crypto sportsbooks don't offer a market for them.

Only big tournaments should be allowed to be bet upon, that would reduce the cheats.
The scandal involved chess grandmasters, including the current world champion who felt cheated by his adversary, so big tournaments aren't a guarantee of legitimacy after all.
libert was quite clear that it would reduce the cheats. No sports are exempted from controversies no matter how big or small the tournament is but I agree that cheating in big tournaments is harder to pull off. You have the world watching with the help of videos that can be reviewed to help in the investigation.

It's hard to analyze the game of chess like other sports.

I know how to play chess, but not in terms of analysis for the Grand Masters who are competing. it seems, this option is not very attractive to most gamblers because this game really plays on the skills and strategic intelligence of the two players.
even if crypto casinos adopt it, it will likely be a gamble between players and players. however, I don't understand how the mechanism works. actually there are many chess game applications, which compete players around the world. there are also many game platforms that adopt it, but usually only for entertainment without betting involved.

So, the most ideal option is what you do with your friends. I guess that bets involving chess games can be played just like traditional bets, by getting several players together like tournament events and such.

So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?

Yes, definitely I will consider betting on chess matches, if available. Although my selection is limited only to my known chess players.

I love playing chess and not bragging about my chess skills but during my school day, I'm one of the representatives of our school in a competition although didn't experience being a champion because there are really lots of good and skilled chess players here. Whew, I missed my trophies but nowhere to be found now due to several house moves.

Back to the topic, I'm sure chess matches are being listed by some bookies. I'm not just sure if there's a regular listing since if I'm not mistaken, chess competitions don't have regular matches like a season in any sport. Chess matches are mostly done thru events like Asian Games, SEA games, and World Chess Open Tournament.

I don't think about the type game/match.

Any sporting-bet question is always, did you know anything about the game or match ? If you know or have some information about the game and then the answer is "YES". Asking people who are don't know anything or without information for doing the bet their answer are gonna to say "NO".

Main things about sport-betting is always, we have some information/knowledge or not.

I've made a few bets between friends of mine over who will win in major chess tournaments a couple of times already. So far I'm yet t0 see an official casino preceding bets for games like this but speaking as an avid chess enthusiast since time immemorial, it would do the chess community great service if it could get all the popularity it could. As it stands today chess is far from a dying sport, I would even argue that it will outlive every known sport and game in existence. But the utter lack of public attention and acclaim is saddening sometimes, especially considering how great the game is and how high-level yet beginner friendly it could be.

If a casino site can place bets on chess games, will it make users interested in betting.
Chess is an individual game that is only played by 2 players and spectators who watch a chess match cannot predict the game correctly, because chess is a game that relies on ingenuity or brain intelligence in strategy and steps to play it.
So it is very difficult to bet on and only a few people will be interested in betting in a game of chess.

I probably wouldn't bet on chess tournaments because I'm not interested in the game. But some gamblers who regularly bet on various sporting events would probably be interested in such bets. It seems to me, though, that it needs some kind of big championship, not a neighborhood competition. And yet chess is less popular than other sports.

I've seen here several communities that discuss about: Topic: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022, unfortunately at this time I have not found an online crypto gambling site that features online chess games, what I see is still a physical tournament, where we do betting like traditional betting, I mean real betting with real people, not with crypto online.

Maybe, if there is an online crypto gambling site that makes a chess betting feature, I will bet on it, because I am also one of the hobbies of playing chess in the real world, I am happy to place a bet if there is a crypto gambling site that offers that option, Like live betting or robots.

It is not strange to bet in such. I think it can be referred to as table game and I have seen different neighbors who do such betting, I mean off line betting. Some schools organise such as the end of year curricular activities where students are levied/ contribute finance for the end of the year party and they enter for any of the games including chess to compete with each other or one another as the case may be. To compete is of course a kind of gambling because there is something at stake and the price won by the winner is to show better performance. So chess gambling is not strange and people will find it easy to also bet on line and it will involve different options with the king, Queen etc.

News are recent, from last year. I remember it was even noticed on a channel from my country, during its main newscast.

The supposed cheater, Hans Niemann

Besides this case, there was another involving one of the biggest youtubers from my country, who was caught cheating during a chess session as well. But I don't have a link in English to share with you.

Why not? Wherever there are two players/teams competing against each other, betting is possible.

Chess' bets aren't taken in consideration by most gamblers, because they can be easily cheated by third party softwares when played online. There are several stories exposing that, some involving famous players of the industry and personalities of the internet in general.

When I was still a little boy, if I'm not mistaken during the height of chess in the mid to late 80's, it was huge in every country. So I would see parents of my friends, their uncles and everyone in the neighborhood will sit down and have this sort of chess tournament that will start late morning that will go up to the afternoon and evening and all they do is play chess and bet against each other. I'm seeing this kind of setting in the last couple of years though, but not sure if money is involved or just friendly matches in between. So yeah, why not? I would bet on it, but I wouldn't play, I know how to play it but I don't like the pressures of it, hehehe.
