Ignore the naysayers and just do it!

You have almost nothing to loose.

If you do it nicely you will attract some customers.

I think I would consider doing this as bit coins become a lot more popular and powerful. As of now I find them really interesting, but I do not think I want to jump in enough yet to start making purchases in bit coins, or as I heard another company gave the option to its employees, taking my salary in bit coins. If I really wanted the bit coins, I would rather get the cash, and pay for it myself.

Would anyone be interested in buying home made dried apple/banana/strawberry/pineapple chips for Bitcoin?

I probably would not buy over the net, but if my local greengrocers accepted Bitcoin that's how I would pay them.

I'd probably be more interested in buying some beef jerky.

Who doesn't love beef jerky?

I'm not opposed to dried fruit but BTC is slow for in person transactions.
Again:
That is entirely up to the seller, he can decide how much confirmations are necessary before processing your order. For something like dried fruit, I'd say zero confirmations would suffice. Just the appearance of the tx in the network is enough (plus not seeing other pending transactions from the same address beyond its current balance). Successfully pulling off a double spend would effectively cost way more than some dried fruit.

I'm not opposed to dried fruit but BTC is slow for in person transactions. I don't think I'd buy many food products over the Internet. But I'd love to pay for in person products with a fast mobile payment system that is secure. CryptoCurrencies have that potential market--they just have to pin it down. They have the Internet market because we don't really care if it takes an hour for 6 verifications. We just care that it happens soon enough so product can be shipped timely.

I will not. Because bitcoin transaction takes some time to confirmed
Huh

and I do not want to spend too much on transaction fees to buy dried food. Maybe something else more in value...
Huh
YOU decide how much transaction fee you want to pay. Transactions with fees as low as 0.00001 BTC are processed pretty much instantly. And lower (or even free) also works fine, although that may take a few blocks before getting included.

And besides, got any idea how ridiculously expensive the current transaction fees are with paypal, credit cards, and wire transfers? They're like 1000x as expensive, compared to Bitcoin.

I love dried fruit, but I would hesitate to buy any food that requires handling and processing that can go wrong (i.e. moulding, bad quality control, etc) from a business that isn't already working with regular currency.

If you had a cool web storefront I would totally buy with BTC. In theory I'd prefer to buy most things with BTC if possible, it's just not really practical without established storefronts like Amazon (where you know pretty much what you're gonna get via reviews etc...).

I'm not interested in buying with Bitcoins things I can buy with cash.

yeah same here... SOMEDAY we will but right now i'd rather use it for things I cant get elsewhere

now, if you sold them for 75% off then yes.... (which would be smart to do since bitcoins will easily go up 75% in the next few years)
