So you can show off to other people that you are the Bitcoin Professional? I think it's not a good idea, but for some people who wants to search for fame and popularity, they can join with that. It's better to stay behind the wall while we can do many things than to get expose from media.

Hm, somehow, I feel it strange because it is written in that article that:

Quote
The following careers would benefit from certification:
Accountants and Controllers
Sales & Marketing professionals
Professors, Teachers, and Educators
Entrepreneurs
IT Professionals
Call Centre Representatives
Project Managers
Anyone who uses Bitcoin in their daily lives

So, I feel that the government is involved in this certification because all of the profession is in real life. Besides that, I feel that soon the governments will announce something related to that certified.

Why should anyone need those certificates? What kind of services are opened for owners of such certificate?
For now it seems like I can issue my own certificates and give them to everyone I want. Ofc if the purpose of them is just to show someone that you poses some specific knowledge about bitcoin.
Reading this forum may give even better knowledge then your certificate.

This is about getting certificate so that they can incentivise their teachings to people.  With the certificate, they are able to tell that they are professional and knowledgeable about Bitcoin and then can organize seminars and other stuff regarding Bitcoin and charge people.  They can also offer their advice services in exchange of fee.  This is all about business and getting reward on what you know.  Which I think is reasonable since you spend lots of your time learning stuffs.

I think this is a bit of a crazy idea. Whether this is just a scam and someone wants to simply cut the dough from the people. I do not understand why the certificate? You either understand cryptocurrency or not.

That's true, I mean, most of the time, "certifications" like that or "licenses" are needed to be paid, or you may be required to do something to get it like attending stuff or passing and qualifying on examinations, which most of the time, are not free to do. Therefore, if it would just burden a cryptocurrency user with no clear use for it, I don't think it would be that useful. If it can help you gain some edge over other cryptocurrency users on your selected field, then on that note, maybe some would see the good side of getting one. But, if there is none, then most like no one would bite one it, unless you can really get some valuable and sort of inside knowledge that you can at least use as a tool to make your transactions and investments more prosperous.

Any certification must be backed by some credible institution for it to have some worth in the industry. Bitcoin has only been with us since 2009, so it is fairly new in the industry, so most people will not have more than 10 years experience in Bitcoin.

A Certified Bitcoin Professional qualification will not give you any advantage over someone with no certificate. Experience in the industry are just as valuable.   Wink

I didn't quite understand. By which authority can they issue such a certificate? Who does this Bitcoin Professional give to the class? It's kind of silly to me ...
Bitcoin is a currency, so there is no certificate of any kind to a currency, like a dollar that is also a currency but does not need any certificates, because each country has different rules for each.

Some people were against certifications. Or against paying for them. I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that Andreas M. Antonopoulos and Vitalik Buterin are on their Board of Directors. So it's not some scam IMO.

It's not about scam, it's about wasting your money. Users have suggested you to learn by your own as already everything is available online and absolutely free, so why we need to pay for this?
I don't have any doubt on the learning process provided by that particular organization/website but the certificates they are issuing (Certified Bitcoin professional) have zero worth in the market.

Hi, I'd like to become a "Certified Bitcoin Professional":

But I've been putting it off, so I thought I'd try to find someone to take it with me. The idea is to study for the exam together (the idea is *not* to take the exam together; just study for it). I can put in 1 to 2 hours a day.

Looks like there are 33 topics so it'll take 1 to 2 months to study (just a rough estimate).

Anyone up for this?
And this would prove what?
Could we use it in real life?
We would receive a certificate then what's next?
If we really want to we could just learn it we don't need certificate or anything.
After all certificates could be faked out we could make it by our own.

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who has replied!

Secondly some of you have pointed out there are free courses, too. I decided to look at them first.

And then some people also wanted to join this study group. I tried to DM you but I couldn't (not allowed since I'm pretty new here). Please DM me.

It's pretty interesting, but I wouldn't be a part of it. It seems to me that I am not ready to pass all these exams to get a certificate. In addition, it does not give anything and is just a piece of paper.

Of course every body wants to be a bitcoin professional. But I think that time of that study 1-2 months is too long especially for those people who are not doing or working bitcoin as a full time job.  As a narrative or writen report I think this is not worth it. But if someone teach you in an actual strategy I think this is more effective way to be a bitcoin professional.

I don't get it. Why do we have to study bitcoin just to get a certificate? And does that certificate of being professional will give you income? It is just a piece of paper.
What makes sense here is that, you study because you are willing to learn and being a professional in this field means you are gaining and winning and you know meaningful things about bitcoin. Experiences makes you a certified bitcoin professional.

In fact, there is nothing here to you should understand. There is no platform that can give to us or anyone any certificate.

But it is not enough only get experience. We all have to learn how system is working. What is mining? Why we have a scalability problem in here? Why are they create so many project and cryptocurrencies. Which one is real or not real.

There are a lot of thing to learn. Just want it. Don't believe anyone which tell you anything. There is no person who we called Bitcoin expertise.

Bitcoin was a way for individuals to show that they don't need the government to tell them what is money and what is not. I think it's ironic that the same people would rely on a specific centralized institution to tell them whether they're competent or not.

Of course spending money want make anyone learn bitcoin in th right way the only effective learning method is self learning and that is something anyone can start from this forum because there are so many essential threads that can educate a newbie to become a bitcoin professional and I doubt any formal education can provide that kind of knowledge these days so at the moment the cheapest path what I have mentioned is the best way to become a professional

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
Why pay that much to learn Bitcoin when you can pay little to nothing to learn both Bitcoin and cryptocurrency combined. You will also need to learn the more difficult stuff like coding solidity, and  virtual Machine based cryptocurrency.

We are as it is having trouble dealing with speculations and opinions from bitcoin 'experts' we do not really want to add professionals to the list.
There is no legal backing for that organization to certify anyone in the field of bitcoin, and the fact that it's a paid service makes it more shady. Concentrate on learning and applying your knowledge for profit or the betterment of the lives of others.

I agree with this comment, especially with the last paragraph. That definitely needs to be widely recognized first so that it works. A lot of that knowledge is something we already have even in a basic level and that is all we need to use Bitcoin only.

Now, i personally want to learn how to be a Blockchain developer later when i can be in a environment that will allow me to be as productive as i know i can be. Because i believe Blockchain is the future, it will be another language in the list of the ones i already know and especially will learn in the future at a production level. The funny part will be finding ways to integrate it into companies and different types of organizations.
