Really don't see the point when you can already tip members with their profile's btc address (assuming they've got one).

Not against it either, good if there was an option to hide Changetip if implemented. At the very least it would give people a choice.

I think the problem is that some people want an user-friendly system, like changetip (this is the unique reason valid).

What is un-user friendly about copy/pasting someone's BTC address into your wallet and sending them a tip?

I think ChangeTip is great for Twitter and the like, but totally unnecessary here.

The part in bold is what I'm meaning when I said "not user friendly". Not for me, but only for a lot of people that "want" an immediate and responsive software (I hope you understand).

ChangeTip is more than just tipping as well, its a public show of support. "I like what you're doing, here is a token amount of btc, I hope others do the same".

Changing avatars is currently not possible.
No. If you want to receive tips, all you need to do here is post your address at your profile or signature. So ChangeTip would be useless and inconvenient here (because you would need to register with them to receive the bitcoins)

There is now even 2 places to add the addresses in the profile

I prefer Zakir over Muhammed when mentioning me!

I am gonna tip this guy some. Great post! This blew my mind! Cheesy

I don't see anything wrong with it either if it's implemented properly, thing is though, most of us all know how to use the Bitcoin client and we all end up posting our addresses at some point if we want to receive money, I don't really think something like this would be such a big deal.

If this won't act as a "money transmitter" like theymos said, I am okay with it! Smiley

I'm sure it can. Someone above mentioned getting it in a PM, though maybe a small/unobtrusive little note under the post would be best.

The problem with that little note is that it must be integrated deep into the forum software then.

ChangeTip is so extremely annoying on reddit. I don't understand why this can't be done via PMs....
I hope it dies and doesn't reach BTT.

Personally I like seeing who sent who what but PM-ing may be a good option or the ability to turn off seeing the notification for those that don't care about it.

There must be a way to achive that without it being a post (like on reddit currently).

Yeah I understand that, it would streamline btc tips between forum members. My main gripe would be all the changetip payment spam posts clogging up the threads, find it annoying on reddit when you're trying to read all the posts.

It's not a massive deal but it's still a bit of a faff copying and pasting the address then booting up your wallet just to send some dust which likely isn't worth it given the transaction fees. Changetip just makes it convenient.

As per title question... What is your opinion? Would you like to see ChangeTip working here and in forums generally? Do you think it will happen and if so, how could it be implemented?

This is the reply of theymos :

I've thought about that before, but I think that there might be legal problems with that. It might make the forum a "money transmitter".

I think that was regarding this forum implementing their own one, not a third party one like changetip (though I could be wrong and he was answering to both options, but if Reddit has no problems then hopefully this forum wouldn't either).

Either implement changetip to the forums or create an internal changetip function. Would also be great if it supported like the top 20 altcoins.

You are right, but do you really think theymos will implement changetip (a third party site, not an internal one)? I hope he will add this feature in the new forum software, I do not think it is difficult or am I wrong?

Very interesting. Didn't think about this point.
