When you say 1GB, 2GB, etc., is that disk space? Memory? Bandwidth?

Would the server come with the Minecraft server installed and ready to go (maybe after some config) or would we have to do that on our own? I used to enjoy running a server for some buddies and I'd love to get back into it, so I might be willing to try this.

From what I've seen, Minecraft servers are measured in RAM, but other specs can be important.

Are you offering the standard Multicraft and all that gibberish along with the order?

Alright, so if I had enough investors to help share my cost to get the memory needed for the server of $200 in pre-orders.  I could then do this for pricing:

1GB - $6.95/mo with dedicated IP included
2GB - $8.95/mo with dedicated IP included
3GB - $11.95/mo with dedicated IP included
4GB - $13.95/mo with dedicated IP included
5GB - $16.95/mo with dedicated IP included
6GB - $18.95/mo with dedicated IP included
8GB - $23.95/mo with dedicated IP included
10GB - $28.95/mo with dedicated IP included
12GB - $33.95/mo with dedicated IP included

How are those prices?  It's not making barely any money at all, enough to make it worth running and give me some profit, so it's worth running to me, granted I have enough pre-orders to order the memory, again.. through PayPal so you know you can get your money back if I do not follow through.

What do you think?

Additional edit:

I'd discount web hosting on top of this, so you could have a website/forums for your server if that would be of any interest.  So if you got a Minecraft server, I could also provide web hosting for it at a discounted rate on the Basic Plan for an additional $2/mo.
I think the 12 gb plan is actually a pretty good deal.  Pm me if you ever get it down to that price, and ill consider buying it.

Another thing to consider is that we're offering static IP addresses with ours, where as in the case of competing with ShockByte, they charge $5 for static IP addresses on top of their plans.  So really, we're cheaper.  Not by much, but we are.

I hate to burst your bubble, but shockbyte hosting is much cheaper.  I personally use it,  and while I'm not a affiliate for them,  it works perfectly at a much lower cost. (Hell,  my mcprohost server went offline and crashed more then this one does.)
Anyways,  Yes.  I would be interested in buying minecraft server hosting for bitcoin,  but not at these rates.

Ah, okay!  I'll look around for more providers.  I might be able to compete with them.  I'll get back to you.
Good luck mate,  I think you have a good chance, but I also think you'll need to either
A. Find a way to convince people your services are better then the rest, which wont be easy as most people see mcprohost as the best,  and it costs about the same amount...Or
B. Find a way to get your prices down,  possibly combine that with A.  Tongue

Really, someone putting scam?  I hope you're joking. Tongue  It's to be funny.  I hope you don't really honestly think this is a scam being that the initial investors to get the server up and running would have to pay through PayPal, which there's security to get your money back if I don't follow through. Okay, so I have a way to keep Minecraft hosting down to a minimal cost.  However, I don't want to foot the money out on a hunch or a possibility when I have no idea what the market is like for this around here.  (Obviously, I'd accept PayPal as well.)

I can offer, (still up in the air) between $6.95 to $7.95 per GB per month for initial investors. Then regular prices would be more like $8.95/$9.95/mo per GB for anyone who comes along after.

There is some start up costs with this.  I'd have to upgrade a server of mine which requires a few replacement parts that could support 64 to 72GB of memory which is currently sitting around right now, in good condition we've just had to pull the memory from it for a different server and there was no immediate plans for this server right now.  It would only take about $200 to meet me half way on the memory costs, so I'd be 50% invested and any initial investors would obviously receive a life-time discount on the services for the first people help us reach that $200 goal to get this server up and running.

I'm really trying to expand my hosting company in a lot of ways.  We went from dedicated servers only, to now web hosting and we're now looking to get into possibly hosting Minecraft servers.

It's an idea.  I'd like to get some responses on it and if we get about.. 25 people that would want a 1GB server, or 13 people who want a 2GB server or 8 people who want 3GB servers, or 6 people who would do 4GB servers, we could get this thing up and running in a few days or less.

It's just a thought.  I'm still working on getting a Bitcoin gateway implemented on our check out system.  So for now it'd have to be done through PayPal, which in all actuality is probably the best/safest for both you and myself until my trust level is built up on here.

Look, I'm not out to scam someone out of $200.  I'm just looking to expand my business, add services and more options for Bitcoin usage to the community.

P.S., the "Scam!" option is just for fun and also for the people who will ultimately consider this a scam, which, I honestly hope doesn't happen.  I've been very honest, upfront and very active on the forum to hopefully show that I'm not about to run off with $200!

Vote, vote, vote and I hope there is enough interest in this, because I'd love to get this going, especially with EXTREMELY reasonable prices!  (Possibly even lowered after a few months of running to recoup some expenses!)
