I have an MS64 Casascius 2011 Series 2 that I would let go for 3 BTC.
Was it loaded in 2012 ?

No.  It is this coin: http://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1CAeNDcBJ2qUkdJpRSv4P2oCh2qayFdGHr

Here is mine

http://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1CaVqf2ZwobgCsZJrTUvYsszKozpsZhpC9

Maybe one could find in the blockchain the number of coins in the package sent to france loaded at the same time?
(I could ask the reseller for this one, but it would be publicly known if it's easily readable in the blockchain)

https://blockchain.info/fr/address/18HurfxZS18CeW4TRcS3223sopTSY7d81K
(might be this, so around 50 1ca... address  an half roll)

Or Mike would remember sending a late roll to france? (if you read this Mike, and have an idea of 2011 V2 loaded 2012, I'll take it)

EDIT : I looked the wrong coin (OgNasty's one)
And strangely uberbill show 2011-12-13 for is coin
and the tx to is coin address in blockchain.info shows 2012-03-13 03:08:21
https://blockchain.info/address/1CAeNDcBJ2qUkdJpRSv4P2oCh2qayFdGHr
(Have I looked something wrong? I'm tired)  Sad

My coin show 2012-02-19 for uberbill and blockchain.info

https://blockchain.info/fr/tx/bbf281895b4ac867e0b0c46a97aa5890642f89613e08b3df94b8b01cf7187514

Outch, it's a more bigger load, it will be hard to know what is what in this transaction.  Tongue
I see a bearer bar, some coins. where there all for france, I can't say

I will link this topic to my reseller, if he want's to come in or reply me privately... or not reply  Cheesy

V2 sticker, 2011 coin, loaded 2012

I think it was sent in late 2011 by mike, probably stuck at customs, and finally loaded when the reseller confirmed is arrival. I think all the coins in this shipping order match those criterias (I think mike has loaded the roll in one shot), and know a lot of coins from this roll have been used for educational purpose and where scratched and touched by a lot of fingers.
(brrrr poor coins)

Thoses coins have a fucking good history  Smiley

Mike once wrote to me that he would never ship "unloaded" coins for fear of having "loose" unloaded coins in the wild if the recipient did not confirm good reception.
He said also that he was loading the coins only a short time before they mere ready to ship.

I believe the 2011 coins were shipped until the spring of 2012. At that time, the supply dried up and he started shipping 2012 coins.
However, for the reason stated above, the last 2011 coins were loaded at the time of their shipments i.e early 2012.

For reference:
I sold a 2011 S2 MS65, July 2015, for 2.7.

But much have happen in the Casascius market since.

Indeed the prices have tanked a lot.

I have been watching here for a while but I have not seen one come up.

Does anyone know of one for sale?  I know they are the rarest of the 1 BTC coins but surely they are not all hoarded yet.

Are you looking for a raw or graded one?  I have one of each if you are interested.

Either at the right price, how much do you want for them?

PM sent - make me an offer Smiley

Last deal I'm aware of is from summer 2015 @ 2.6 BTC for an MS65. More lucrative than the silvers at that price.

That is a steal at that price, someone got a great deal.  I cannot wrap my head around why these sell at such a relatively low premium given their rarity.

Shhhh you.

A bit of a joke by me as i bought one on these forums around that time for 2.6 btc graded MS 65.

My biggest success on eBay was luring a buyer here to complete a deal  Grin

Watch out for bogus sellers, I've had thousands of $$ tied up in eBay for WEEKS because of Casascius coins. I've had many more bad experiences than good selling and buying these things on eBay.

I have bought and sold on eBay with no issue.  That said, I will never buy or sell (regardless of price) to anyone without significant feedback that is 100% positive.  I swore it off because of the 13% take that eBay/paypal charge (combined).  This forum is a much better and safer place to buy (if you use escrow).

The eBay prices are becoming more realistic as the price of bitcoin increases. An $850 price makes more sense when the BTC price is at $415 than when it was at $250...but you're still paying the same fiat if you need to buy bitcoin first before making the transaction.

I agree with others that BTC2-3 is fair. You'll often find good deals on the 2011 series 2s because many people still prefer the series 1 error coins, even though the series 2 coins are significantly more rare.

I believe I bought and resold both for between 2 and 3 BTC. Would have been within the last year, year and a half tops. If you obsessively pore over my post history you might find it.

Same with my posts...probably here somewhere. I agree with nubbins though on prices between 2BTC-3BTC. Good luck on your hunt to locate one!

The one on eBay is a good deal tbh..

I had two, MS65 and MS6? (4 or 6, memory fails me).

Do you mind telling me how much they went for/how long ago?  Even if you can't say exactly can you ballpark it for me?

I also notice you talking about PGP chains, I take it they wont apply to these because they are pre-2013 when he started doing PGP sigs.

Part of my problem is I have no idea how much to offer/pay.

I have sold several of them over the years. The last couple I sold were MS-65 and went for 2.65 and 2.75. For some reason they always go for less than the Series 1 even though they are much rarer.

Fun fact: I did a search on my feedback for the word Casascius (seeing if there is a link) and it has 69 mentions of Casascius...lol.
