concordeSST - are you able to get more of these?

Yes, I should be able to. I don't know if there are any purchase limits, but it appears to be easy to order more.

awesome - I would be interested in a set - what would be the cost to get one from you? will check back with you in the AM - on the way to bed atm.

thanks for responding!

I will need to see what it costs when I ship ChiBitCTy's as I've never tried to ship outbound from China yet, but it's likely around .002 BTC for an unloaded set if shipping is what I expect. I do have another set on the way, so I can reserve it for you.

Edit: Actually, there is a limit. The maximum I can buy is ten sets, and it remembers previous purchases.

Finally got my hands on them! I have an unopened set with your name on it ChiBitCTy. They are unloaded, though it appears possible to buy them loaded (50 RMB for an unloaded single, 250 RMB for an unloaded gift box of the five pictured, 750 RMB for a loaded gift box with 100 RMB on each card). The cards link to the e-CNY app on iOS and I assume Android. You tap via NFC to connect it to the app and then you need to load it from a Chinese bank account. I was able to load mine, but without a Chinese National ID, I have daily spending limits and load limits for an "anonymous" card.

Man so cool !!  DM sent. Will make a great addition to my collection! Smiley

Bump

Haha, I still remember. The problem is, I can't get one myself yet. My bank won't allow me to use it without a Chinese National ID...for now. I know they were used at the Olympics, but I don't know how and if that was a special case or not.

I don't know what you're willing to share and what you're not, but are you saying that you'll be getting a Chinese National ID and once you do, then you'll be able to get one of these?

Do you know if there's only one version of these cards being made?  Do they all have a name on them?

Would be awesome if you were able to talk someone in to selling theirs.. I will pay up Smiley   I appreciate you keeping this in mind still.

Oh I mean the ID number given to Chinese citizens, like a social security number in the U.S. I'm not a Chinese citizen and never will be, so there are a lot of things I can't do as a foreigner. I think they will eventually expand it to everyone but right now it's still kind of an experiment. I don't even know if there are physical cards. No one here uses physical cards for anything. Everything is done with apps on their phones and mini-apps through WeChat or Alipay. I've never seen a physical card used to pay anywhere besides a hotel. I want to ask about it, but it's complicated with the language barrier. Most Chinese nationals I've spoken to are completely perplexed when I mention the digital yuan or the e-cny. They have no idea what I'm talking about. In their minds money is already digital with WeChat and Alipay. I see the logo for it at some stores but it's very rare.

Bump - still in search of one of these cards ( I do not care if there is actually any digital yuan on the card or not, of course it would be great if there was ).

I'm still working on moving there later this year, visa approval is complicated due to COVID. I haven't forgotten about your request!

Isn’t this just a Chinese Yuan debit card? Don’t you need a Chinese bank account to load it or am I mistaken.

I’m not looking to use it, I simply want it as a collectible.

I gotcha. I think the coolest part is the digital display of funds so I was thinking even as a collectible would be tight to have funds on it.
