It'll take an Avalon about 2 months to break even at that price at the current difficulty. Sounds like a fair price.

If you're offering 10k plus for one I'm going to assume this is most likely a scam

http://www.bitcoinclassifieds.net/ad/3601_Avalon_ASIC_Bitcoin_Miner__65_Ghs_Speed_Guaranteed/

Me and my brother were considering purchasing one off him - using paypal for added security but now I'm thinking probably not the best idea, they did seem a tad cheap

I think those are a scam. Those pictures aren't even their unit. Can anyone confirm that ad is a scam or not?

Edit: nvm just saw the price, mega scam.

if I had one and actually believed that bitcoin prices would continue to increase, I'd probably try to get you up to ~15k, then use that 15K to purchase bitcoins.  the second option would be to reinvest that 15k in even more ASICs.

i don't think they're going to keep going up, but apparently some other ppl in this thread do.  so, what's so bad about the offer?

There is still value in having that $25k right up front, all at once.  Money makes money.

In theory, I will have an Avalon in-hand next week.

If it were purely a business decision, I might offer to sell it the same day for $25,000.

But emotionally, I really want my Avalon.  I don't want to just sell it right away for fiat.  I took the gamble of ordering it almost 6 months ago, and paid 114 BTC for it.  To sell it now for sure and easy money would be a cop-out.

Honestly, I want you to get what your looking for.   Its just with even the conservative calculations I have done.  $10,000 is not a realistic offer.  I would match and increase this offer right now, just to put it to fact.

Seems like there is no winning this argument for me. When I first made my offer, someone calls me a bluffer. Now after BTC price skyrockets, my offer has become a lowball. I am OBO for anyone that has one in-hand to sell. Grin

I don't know if this thread might interest you.

I don't think he is selling, just a feeler. Thanks for your help.

Bitcoin is a bit of an ugly audience to play to.

And you can't forget that we don't know if the price is going higher.

BTC price going up is uncertain, but difficulty going up is certain.

It might be, but you are talking about an IN HAND unit.  We know what the difficulty is now and we can estimate reasonably accurately what it is in the next cycle.
