* Can you keep the physical check after redeeming?

If you deposit a check electronically, such as using mobile deposit, you will still have a physical copy of the check. Your bank will process the image of the check as if it had the original.

Is the name of the beneficiary on it? Is there no way for me as a buyer to check if it has been cashed? Can it only be cashed by the person mentioned on the check?
Someone could endorse a check to you as a third party payee. If you receive a check that is endorsed to you, the original payee is probably going to have to be present for you to cash the check due to the high risk associated with accepting these checks (it is difficult to verify if the original payee actually endorsed the check to you, or if the check was stolen).

It is very difficult to verify if a check has been cashed or not because of the possibility it has already been deposited electronically.

IMO, your chances are better of being able to buy one as a novelty versus being able to buy an uncashed check. Most banks are waiving check cashing fees to cash these checks, so whoever the check is made payable to has no reason to accept anything less than face value, and you would have fraud risk in buying one of these checks.

Here you go.  Someone wanted The Orange Panda's signature.  Here's his B.S. letter which just arrived for my dead father.  I'm sure he'll appreciate it!

Can anyone post their check without any of the private information? Does it mention coronavirus or Donald Trump? France and the UK are the only European countries where I've seen them still being used somewhat frequently.

This was sent to my deceased (2 1/2yrs ago) father c/o me. Ours was electronically deposited.   I scanned it as a souvenir before sending it back. The orange panda doesn't sign them.

Where's Trump's signature?  Tongue

He can't sign it by law, not that that hasn't stopped him before, and didn't sign it.  He "signed" the asinine letter that came 3 days later.

I understand.
That makes it much less rare... assuming most people will cash it electronically. Would still like a cashed one - make me offers Smiley
Shipped to US.

Seems to me that xPPx has already offered to sell you his check that he is saying that it is already going to be cashed by the time that he sends it to you.  You could probably work out the details via PM with xPPx, presuming that he does not want to publicly share any of his personal details, such as name and address that would likely be on the check.

You should be able to get a lot of these kinds of checks, if you were to want them, and the ball seems to be in your court, el_rlee, regarding how much you would be willing to pay for such an already cashed check...

Sure, such checks may have some collectors value, even if there are going to be a lot of them, but presumably only one per USA individual citizen who had received such paper checks.  Many of the folks will cash them in and the banks will have them, and some of those checks will be retained by the records of people who had cashed them through electronic means.

Some banks send cashed checks back to the individuals, though most banks don't seem to be sending cashed checks back to individuals these days, even though maybe they hold onto such checks and probably if individual account holders requested such check(s) back before they are destroyed, then they may be able to get back the original cashed check.  The cashed check will likely have marking on it, from the bank showing that it had been cashed, but the electronic ones, might not have anything more than a signature of the cashing out individual on the back.

I can sell you mine. It will be signed, tho. How much are you offering?

I don't really know to be honest - there are many unknowns for me...

Is the name of the beneficiary on it? Is there no way for me as a buyer to check if it has been cashed? Can it only be cashed by the person mentioned on the check? Could somebody sell me the check, then cash it? Will it void?

Thanks!

Unless its different than any other check, it will have the beneficiaries name on it. To cash it, you'll have to sign the back of it and write other details on it, "for deposit only account # signature" and I suppose with electronic check cashing it might be possible to cash it after selling it. And yes, all checks void after a certain amount of time.

I'd guess your best bet would be to buy one thats already been cashed so you don't have to worry about the other details.

Apparently there are letters that DT is sending out with his facsimile signature on it even if you did the direct deposit so that might be something you want to collect instead/in addition.

So apparently Trump insisted that he have his name on the checks ( which ticked a lot of people off because it'll like hold checks up a few more days/weeks ).  I don't believe there will be any picture of him on it.

I dont think anyone has got the physical checks yet. If I'm not mistaken, two days ago was the first batch of payments and that was only to people who had direct deposit setup (money sent directly to bank, no mailed physical check).

Will it look like that? Will it also be valid for a year? Guess there is no way of telling if it has been cashed after a year?
