Tenner says Knowledgeable got pissed off when we slagged him for his 51% thread and thus DDOS'd everything.

Price looks healthy, I think this all was just a blip in the litecoin rocketship exiting the atmosphere

Notroll is accepting shares, but website is still down.
Wonder what will this do to the price.

I think that it was just a free DDoSer services test. They will back soon, when attackers will be paid for the real attack. So, switching to solo or p2pool is recommended as soon as possible, for the next few days.

Can such a thing happen to btc? Why (not)?
yes. bitcoin is atleast theoretically even more vulnerable to this due to all the centralization and fewer and fewer pools and people having bigger and bigger share of the total network hash rate. all it would take is a few pool operators colluding (or even a few pools having their systems compromised/taken over) to potentially 51% the bitcoin network.

ltcmine.ru is up, been accepting shares throughout the attack too

Someone's trying to game the difficulty, looks like it's not working all that well as many pools are surviving, coinotron and notroll are all still accepting shares, all the other pools are still giving/accepting work

yes, read the OP. they are accepting some but have a lot of long pauses , up to few minutes.   and even when accepting the rejects rate is really bad.

coinotron does appear to be processing shares now, but the website is up and down.

This looks like a major coordinated attack. But even if we all have to solomine until eternity, they cant stop the Litecoins from flowing...

no it means someone can pump and dump  or double spend.
no.  pools being ddosed !=51% attack being successfully pulled off. pools have been ddosed before, this is not the first and will not be the last pools are ddosed. people should always setup automatic failover (even to solo mining). the network hash rate does not seem to have been affected, as far as i can tell

I have a failover and its not working now, also I just finished pool testing so i have 20 configuration files for many combination of pools and... cant find working one.

I'm on ozcoin now, which is under attack for a long time now, and getting 7% rejects + 4% fee its a drastic 89% efficiency.
