I am a newbie looking for some info on demo coins. The only information I have been able to find is on the website coinfirm.org and in the 'Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies'

I purchased one of these coins many years ago and would be interested in selling it, but I have no idea how much they are worth. Anyone interested in making a reasonable offer or giving me some idea of value?

I have pics for anyone interested. Unfortunately I cannot post them here

You can post the links and someone can repost the for you.
Or even post the 1st-bits or full address would help as well
Happy to take a look and give you a price range for it.
Seemingly enough, they are decently rare. Cheesy

Thanks very much for your reply! The public key that I have is as follows: 1E562iYs
The coin is in excellent condition as far as I can tell with the exception of a slight wrinkle in the honeycomb pattern on the reverse.

Very good.
Indeed, a demo coin:

I am pretty sure one of these popped up on this fourm maybe half a year ago and it sold within a few hours for around 5k if I remember right

Cool to know..thanks bro..Would you happen to have the link to it?

No, I know I didn't post on the thread, I might be wrong about the price, but I remember the OP asking for what I thought was some really really  ridiculous price and than like the 5th post down someone bought it.

Good to know regardless...they are a piece of history and are worth a lot. For the collector that wants to have all different varieties in the their collection, this will be needed too!

I think roadkill72 is thinking of the Void coin which sold here on the forum.

When did this new slur of my name come about?

I believe the cow was referring to me...

A coin just like this was recently listed for $8000 on Ebay...It recently sold for a best offer!

Found that ebay listing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Series-1-Casascius-2011-ERROR-1-BTC-USED-CASACIUS-RARE-BITCOIN/222652428722

Looks like someone bought it pretty recently.....   iirc there was a "Best Offer" button... wonder if they got the $950 they were asking for??

Does that seem like a lot for one of these?

How would you price one of these? Huh

It looks like the seller was not even aware this was a Demo coin.

He mentions it was redeemed when in reality it was never loaded to begin with, like all Demo coins.

Not sure how to price these but they are rare as many were probably discarded since no digital value was ever loaded in them.
