Yeah, it's a big problem here. My roommate bought some motorcycle parts online from the US for $70 and UPS charged him $120 in non-specific "customs brokerage fees". FedEx charges these fees here, there's basically a shipping cartel up here as far as getting stuff across the border is concerned. The only company without charges is USPS/Canada Post.

I apologize, it was never mentioned to me by UPS that they would charge a 'fee' for getting it across the border when shipping the package, all that was told to me was the rate to ship the box. This is my first time shipping to Canada, now I know too I guess.

As for the condition of the box, this is the second time (just this week) that UPS has destroyed a box with electronics in it on me. Let me know how things go with the drives and if it doesn't work out well I'll make it right the best I can. Thanks.

1) UPS charged me an extra $45 for brokerage fees at the border (should have mentioned to never ship to Canada with UPS, was partly my fault. For future reference only use USPS to Canada).

I bought them at the end of April of last year (all at the same time) from a local Microcenter.

From what I recall they came with 3 year warranties, so yes they should still be covered. I do not know if these warranties transfer to a new buyer though unless you know more about the subject?

Thanks Chance, I appreciate it! Chance was a great buyer who was super easy to work with and was very fair with his pricing USD / BTC, and this was my first escrow experience which seems to have gone very smoothly so far.

Still looking to unload some more stuff so I can build up my savings

All this volatility in price has caused people to really hold on to their BTC. Here's to hoping it gets stable again soon..

But most importantly, the product (1.5TB Samsung drive) was packaged superbly. You guys have no idea how many times I have either seen or received expensive computer hardware without anti-static bags, or bouncing around inside the box. This drive was in an anti-static and VERY well padded. I asked for escrow, and I know now that if I ever need to work with him again, that won't be necessary. Great seller here, folks.

I only ran it using WHS 2011, and for that (I used it with Flexraid and all these HDDs I'm unloading) it worked perfectly. I don't have any experience using it with Linux.

None of the drives are new, I should have put that in the original thread. The seagate ones are about a year old (bought them for my media server from Microcenter, have since upgraded to larger drives). It was used in a large flexraid array, so it didn't get spun up much (I'd say it likely averaged out to two or three hours a week of use, excluding the day I loaded it up!). I am open to escrow but have never used it before through this site so you'll have to bear with me as I figure it out.
