I thought the whole idea of BQC was that it's a fun, low-difficulty alt to screw around with. It's obviously never going to be used for any real commerce. The only purpose of an exchange would be to scam noobs out of their money.

And that doesn't apply to other minor altcoins (FC, MNC, BTE, .. ) in exactly which way ?

The original creator and now the current active maintainers directly claim that it's an entertainment coin. From the bbqcoin.org:

"BBQcoin (BQC) was originally created to be a “fun” crypto coin (Cubox making the initial public release post) and something that users could experiment with and get enjoyment out of."

I mined thousands of them and gave them away so other members of the community could enjoy them. Now the community is awash in noobs and BQC is suddenly real money? It reeks of opportunism. As I've said before, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I read, a long time ago, crypto currencies have value only because people want them to have value.
 Cool

Indeed. Same for anything else in the world.

Demand/Supply = Value

If no one wants it or is willing to pay for it, then it's crap, no matter what it's called, what it's made of or what anyone thinks of it.

If people want it and are willing to pay for it, then it has value to the point of Demand/Supply.

I think one purpose of exchanging BQC is to let people know that even if they create the coin, they can't dictate what owners do with it.  If people want to use it for commerce, they can, and will.  It's a good coin, quite suitable for commerce, and I believe it will see some use.

People will speculate/trade on anything that has a potential for profit. People seem to like BBQCoin and are willing to pay for them, if people want to trade them I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean Bitcoin IS open-source for a reason, right...?

For the record user "mrbrt" has offered me 100 PPC for 3,200 BQC which is a .22+ BTC value.

On the BBQCoin forums the asking rate is MUCH higher and there are rumors of a couple of exchanges which are soon to be carrying BQC, gonna have to try a little harder than 30,000 DVC (less than 0.04 BTC value)...
