Can anyone comment on how loud (or quiet) these fans are when used with a fan controller?

I got mine in yesterday, they were packaged nicely, arrived in working order, and sound like vacuum cleaners (and move about as much air!).
They are awesome, and for the price can't be beat.

allright, im going to pass then
had this idea of using some wide tubing + that fan to make an air duct for fresh air
but if it would mean even more noise than i have right now i'l pass

quick question: how would this fan compare to a reference cooler on a HD5870? can anyone tell me how it compares to that?
in terms of sound production ofc
would it be louder than that cooler on 50% speed?
reason i'm asking is becouse i'm mining in my bedroom, and 50% on that card is really max for my comfort

No, it'd be louder. I'd say it's about 80% fan on a 5970.

I just ordered my 12th fan from sc8nt4u. I will say that his fan keep my rigs running at 53-58 with 6x5830s, side-by-side for 48 cards. Shipping was near instant as I ordered late one night, and go it the morning of the day after. How loud are these fans? I was just about to order 2 120mm fans from newegg, but these push alot more air...
48dB, about as loud as a 5970 fan spinning at 85-90%. The fans need to be tied down or they'll move by themselves.
