I have tried the method. It is lengthy, but pretty detailed. I'm pretty sure I messed up the process along the SSN area, as I got an email saying "possible delay" because I didn't insert a fake one (not sure if that's what we're supposed to do or not). So some instructions could be clearer but at the end of the day you'll probably get your EDU address. It's essentially applying to a college, just with fake info, that he tells you how to get and use for free. Fairly time consuming. If you know how to use EDU emails for money it would be worth it. I can't say what websites the EDU email works or doesn't work for.
