hey now guys, dont forget - OGNasty is a millionaire - all the funds he made from his fan club, using forum funds for airdrops/forks, selling insurance for a ponzi he promoted - that is some hard work right there.

Great write up Otoh. Dont think anyone here would be sad about you not peeling🍻

GrtzTnk

On the contrary, I think everyone in the Casascius community and Otoh himself would have benefitted greatly from them being peeled. Everyone is free to do what they want. It’s just odd promoting your sales in someone else’s thread after leaving more money than most of us could ever dream of having on the table to enrich an auction house.

This is bad form, even for you.

I couldn't agree more.

Obviously he's jealous and picking an argument with a legend who even stated that he's

What have you done recently with your money Mr nasty to help others? And if you mention your "fan club" or your recent "big purchase" of your Cybertruck, which I'm sure earned you plenty of signature reward payments in your never ending thread about a car,  I may vomit in my mouth along with anyone else who reads that garbage.

Bad form indeed.

You lack the couth to even be speaking to @OTOH (who is on a different level than you could only hope to attain one day) in this manner.

Get a hold of yourself nastyman and show your peers some respect!

We'll see if he is man enough to leave my reply up, or if he will delete it in fear of being called out for the person he is.

Thanks, and thank you @OTOH for your contributions to helping out your fellow man.

I knew you'd delete our posts - only a person scared for others to see the truth would do that. Congrats nastyman, you just proved that you are a shady sham
Most of us already know this, sadly any newcomers will find out the hard way.

Bravo!

How much more money would you have if you waited til now to peel your collection instead of using an auction site to sell?

Obviously with a 130% increase in the bitcoin price over the last year the peel value now is much higher, just as the auction value is as well where I'm guaranteed the current spot price plus half of the buyer's premium, but what matters is that I used a good portion of the proceeds to buy the Blackrock's iShares BTC ETF https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/IBIT/ which is up by about the same amount, and my prime motive was to preserve those coins, and to get them listed in nice catalogues for posterity where I can still enjoy them, but without the needs and risks of physically holding such a large stash, plus to help to kick start the nascent main stream physicals crypto auctions market, Heritage reported to me this about my latest sale:

"As per the last sale we’ve just had on Monday, it was definitely our smoothest and most profitable crypto sale we’ve ever had, so I consider it a great success."

I had other uses for the proceeds as well last year which were more important to me than maximising the amount that I, or my estate, may get at some point in the future, I've waited well over a decade before selling and this is now an opportune time as far as I'm concerned.

I have taken on some costly philanthropic commitments which are making a huge difference to some people's lives and have being doing this for some time now, I've also diversified into many non crypto fields and after having all of my eggs in one basket for so long this gives me more security and some very nice places to live in around the world, this is the stuff that I enjoy spending my good fortune on now rather than trying to maximise my net worth beyond my needs.

You've stated that you don't care for auction house sales and that is your prerogative and choice, but it isn't mine obviously and I have no regrets about my auction sales to date.

I have sold off the St.Petersburg Bitcoin Bowl Coin that was made by Casascius. I don’t believe it was ever pictured on this thread, nor does it hold actual BTC, but I wanted to update anyone that may be watching this thread. The brass coins are still available for sale if anyone wants them individually. Happy coining!

Hi OG...anyone know the last known sale price for the St. Pete coin?

I had an auction in May for one on here... went for 0.036 btc which was about $2400 at the time of sale

Mine sold on June 5th of 2024 for 0.0363 BTC, which was $2,500 at the time of sale.  Seems like that is about the going rate to expect.  Perhaps a little higher in USD terms and lower in BTC terms compared to today's price.  I think a fair expectation would be to pay somewhere between 0.023 BTC and 0.036 BTC for one today.  Who knows though.  Not a ton of these were produced.  It may be hard to find one in collector condition these days.

I've got one I never took out of the original packaging. There were 2 left for sale, and I'm kicking myself for not buying both. But I legitimately thought to myself "hey, I should leave the last one for another real collector to get."   Cheesy

Absolutely...as an investment and hedge, not sure anything will outpace BTC against fiat...and at some point, fiat valuation won't matter anymore once the economy moves to the Bitcoin Standard. From a collector's perspective, it's interesting to see these cool BTC-related pieces appreciated by the market. Been out of the collector loop for a few years...have other high-level collectibles of note emerged at the top of the market? The Allen & Ginter trading cards seemed promising. Any other cool items you all like? Guessing Casascius are still the benchmark collectible...

I am personally and admittedly biased with this question, but I think that NastyFans Minted Seats are going to shock and awe some people with their price appreciation once they sellout.  There are a few hurdles to get over currently with the organization, but once a permanent and sustained donation stream is established and buybacks begin accelerating, I think people who have held onto their coins for years are going to be very happy.  Knowing what I have planned, I'm excited to watch the narrative shift over the coming few years.

You can still buy them at retail price (which is a steal given the current seat price) here: https://nastyfans.org/mint

This is helpful...thanks much. Not bad considering they originally cost ~$200 I believe, and only 2000 produced according to Mike (SOURCE: https://casascius.wordpress.com/ casascius · December 23, 2014 - 7:51 pm · Reply→ 2000 total.). Guessing far fewer exist today.

Kind of depends who you ask whether that is bad or not. Some people irrationally expect things they buy with Bitcoin to outpace Bitcoin’s future gains (even though nothing will), otherwise they call it a scam. For the rest of the world though, yes, this was a nice return on such a cheap item to purchase upon its release. Still, Bitcoin would have been a more profitable buy.

Only 800 passed QC.. the other 1200 were returned to the mint.

And there you go! Casascius coins generally seem destined to be the benchmark physical BTC collectible long-term...along with Bitcoin Magazine #1.

Still interest in these rare, if obscure CAS issues it seems then.
