Well, I did take a while but my account is verified! And off course all my BTC are DIRECTLY moved to paper wallets!

They really did get me nervous, I had more than 25+ BTC stalled in their online Wallet.
Seen the amount this was actually -dumb- to do and I had all paper wallets all ready printed and laying around...
Only had to transfer them to the paper wallets (but that is done right now!)

I have seen much complains about Xapo and I think just locking an account is complete WRONG!
Off course I have lots of friends using Xapo and guess what they have done Wink

Going to run the QT client for direct importing the private keys so I am not depending on those "regulated" services.
After import, direct spend and the rest to a new and clean wallet, only using the paper wallet once.

People, stop using services like Xapo or Coinbase these are just the same as banks!
(What I found out the hard way, but should have known this upfront)

Never think you kept so much bitcoin on XAPO wallet, but we glad to see you can take back your bitcoin.
I hope with this incident, people will realize that they shouldn't use centralized wallet and realize the power of decentralized wallet Smiley

Also. Did you mean bitcoin core(QT client is older version)? Actually, you also can use SPV wallet such as electrum which is decentralized and you don't have to download whole blockchain.

Yeah, I did mean core. Electrum is also an option, but I don´t mind running the complete bitcoin core.
Thinking of running as a node also.

glad that you managed to get your money back!
as I predicted the "verification" was due to the big amount of btc you kept
XAPO just could not resist an opportunity to try and lock you out....
never keep large amounts of bitcoins online! use online services for sums under 1 btc only, send btc back to your wallet after you've finished trading at any exchange, even the most relaible(remember MT-gox,Craptsy,Bitfinex),
keep  rest in a safe hardware or offline wallet

25 Bitcoin is a lot, you should not keep so much Bitcoin on online wallet, it is good you got your Bitcoins back.

You risked 25 Bitcoin online. I am glad you have it back.
Warning people is important, online wallets get hacked often.

Learning from your experience be evidence for all if using the online wallet is very bad at this time, so risky and every time can having a problem with the providing and they can do anything with your wallet/account or amount in your wallet.

xapo also make me confused, because if i login always need sms verification:

Device Verification

To ensure your security, we need to verify your device via a 6-digit verification code. Learn more

We just sent an SMS to + ******** 123.
6-digit code

and something i'm not received sms verification and must try again

I don't trade, only use it as a "saving account"
Did someone tell you yet how stupid that is? You have to trust a third party with something you could have under your own control.
Only if you own the private keys you own the Bitcoins.

Give them what they want, get your money back, close your account.

So Just provide your driving license and a proof of where you live to them, I don't think Xapo will scam you, they have been around for a long time and have a good reputation.

I think they just need documents for their admin process

I've send them the asked documentation, but still received no further info from them after 24+ hours.

I would like to contact them about this, but on their site they mention I can send them a message...
However I can't find this? Anyone know how to contact them?

Site info:

" How do I contact Xapo customer support?

If you have not found what you were looking for after you have asked your question on the Xapo support page, then a "contact us" section will appear in which you can write to us and usually receive a response within 24 business hours.  "

- I cannot find this page Huh

Oops, just found it! Just had to check better...

Please update if they have unlocked you account after providing more documents, I know there is more and more attack on legal exchanges to do more KYC/AML info to assholes in USA/FBI, etc

But some firms might use that to lock and steal from people, any update is welcomed

Thanks for the reactions!

I will provide the needed docs en then move away from them to paper wallets.
Have them printed and laying around, wish I have done this earlier...
well. when you do these things. then you don't need to move to anywhere else. xapo is secure enough and it's vault has insurance.. if you decide to move to paper wallet is is good. but xapo also good.
just prove your documents..
(BTW it proved that bitcoin is no more anonymous)

Locking of account are seriously happening at XAPO but i think those user got locked their accounts are doing some bad thinh that against the TOS of Xapo, so for now the best thing to do is to send aome ticket to their support and wait for them to reply and so by that your issue ill be solve and you can use their service again, so for now its very advisable for anybody that do not store huge balance in that wallet provider since sometimes they are locking some of it maybe They detected it as malicioud balances.

it must have been big volumes or/and lots of transactions
you never know what kind of coins you receve,so there could have been some red flags raised by XAPO security
and they asked you to verify your identity and send photocopies
to be fair many people send them fake names and addresses that even do not exist
but if they did this to me I'd simply let them have the 0.002 btc of mine I keep there and tell them  goodbye

I'm using xapo from long time but never faced blocking issue. you should contact through xapo support but remember their support sucks. Xapo should provide live support for users and such kind of issues should be resolved quickly within an hour.

Yup Xapo requires users to verify account since a few months ago I do not know for what reason they did it so contrary to bitcoin without identity
This time I did not use their services since my account  locked but do not worry if you have the funds there they will return it via email
